Hello, I'm Lea, I'm a full time home educating mama to Elfie, working from home in a rural creative cottage industry. I'm a textile artist, and love heritage crafts, and history of crafts, and I'm passionate about helping to keep the old skills alive and growing.
Me and Elfie spend lots of time crafting together, we spin yarns & art yarns, weave on rigid heddle looms & tapestry looms (& I'm just setting up new work on a table loom) Elfie also tablet weaves on a backstrap loom. we sew, knit, crochet, paint, print, make jewellery, do pottery, wet felting, & needle felting, & I whittle wood, & have started learning basketry.
I started this channel to share our arts, crafts, vlogs, natural living, and I'm neurodiverse so I also share my videos about autism / aspergers and adhd as an adult female, to hopefully help other autistic people, and raise awareness, acceptance and self esteem.
The shawls and scarves are exquisitely beautiful! Your way with texture and design and colour blows me away! And the way you've styled them is just stunning. I love the mirror-work clothing you are wearing with the natural coloured big shawl/blanket,

I love all the Earthy colors and the textures...the video if your environment, the kettles of boiling water and onion skin dyes ...all so relaxing. Great carding machine..will last for sure. Love the beautiful happy sheep too...

Dear Lea - I feel like I am watching myself, 40 years ago! I studied for my degree in Textiles - Woven and Constructed Fabrics at WWU in WA. I had always been drawn to hand spinning, weaving and COLOR. There is something absolutely magical and satisfying about making beautiful, woven fabrics from my own hand-dyed, hand-spun yarns! I have never lost that deeply rewarding experience of creating useful textiles from my own hands. Watching your lovely video warmed my heart, because it means these essential skills are still alive. I share with you one of my favorite quotes about the textile arts:

Great video and lovely work, those colours and textures! I used to hand spin many years ago and enjoyed experimenting with natural dyes - onion skins , lichens , and elderberries amongst others. Brings back happy memories ❤️

Thank you so much! We live in Wales, but me and Luke are from the midlands of England. We have a flock of Shetland sheep who's wool we spin, and I also buy some fleeces every year of other sheep breeds, and some fleece from the farm nextdoor to us too.

Question : does the wool reek of onion ? How do you remove the scent ?
Thank you very much! I thought I'd already replied your question but I don't think it had sent because I can't see it now. I wash the skeins after dyeing and I hang them outdoors on the line to dry in the fresh air and they're always fine.
