I was there ,it was a balmy night in Sydney around Nov 1973 .I took my girlfriend at the time and wasn't so sure to make of it all at the start,Billy with his short hair ,clean shaved. It went into the war set after the acoustic set , then they came back for the second half and it was Bill and the Aztecs as we all knew them.I have never been back to the Opera House for a concert but was thinking of doing so and it lead me to this site.
We miss you mate, saw you dozens of times and wished I would have had a chance to shake you hand ,but never did.He had an aura and a bit of arrogance ,
but that was just him ,and Australia loved the guy.We just all wished maybe he could be a bit more accessible after his gigs. There was only one Billy Thorpe and there will never be another one. Thanks for the great memories.

@@philipcarey2721 It wasnt the only time I saw him. Maybe the last time I saw him was in Gladstone Qld, early 2000's. Cried like a baby when he died as I was never going to see the best live performer ever again. He was a real showman, it was like losing a brother.
