    Do you think GoW Ragnarok's story is as good as the last?

    I’m gonna disagree with you on this one. I’ve not finished it yet but I’m finding it phenomenal so far, it’s bigger, better, faster, more characters, more story it’s everything I’d want from a sequel. There’s some shocking backstory to loved characters that I was like WTF, there’s huge emotional moments especially at the beginning with the wolf that had me in tears being a dog owner then again later that I won’t spoil. What they e squeezed out of the ps4 as technically it is a ps4 game is incredible

      In regard to this bit "I’ve not finished it yet but I’m finding it phenomenal so far, it’s bigger, better, faster, more characters, more story it’s everything I’d want from a sequel. " - I felt the exact same 30+ hours in, I was exploring, taking my sweet ass time with it and having an absolute blast. I've finished the game a few days ago, and believe me when I say many people a year from now will be looking at this game rather critically and after the honeymoon fase is over, the critiques will begin.
      This game lacks both the epic scale of the old games, and the narrative focus of the 2018 reboot. It offers no replay value, and given how they switch back in forth between multiple characters, it would be boring to begin it anew once you're done.
      It's the first time I've felt a GOW game had a very weak late game and a terrible final sequence. So manage your expectations.

      @@SimpleArt93 sorry but so far I feel like it’s captured the epic scale of previous games from the Greek periods ones, bigger bosses like back then, crazy action sequences and camera moves like back then, kratos fatalities like then. How’s swapping characters make any difference to replying it? Of course there’s reply to it to get to areas you couldn’t cos you never had certain weapons the first time you passed through

      @@superstew79 I'm glad you're enjoying it.
      I wasn't reffering going back to previously explored areas to get items you couldn't access before.
      I meant replaying suffers when you have so many boring and extremely controlled sections with Atreus, and his combat isn't deep enough to carry those sections not even the first time around compared to Kratos.
      And again, no spoilers ahead, but:
      If you told me it paid off in the end once the story wraps up, I would have appreciated it - but it never does. The finale sucked hard for this series, and as a tribute to what is described in the sagas, even worse. Very underwhelming stuff all around.
      The ending itself where it sets up the future of the franchise was neat, but what preceded it was so bad I couldn't even properly appreciate it when it happened and only kind of enjoyed that ending cutscene after thinking about it later on.

      I'm enjoying the game, but the pacing seems off and Kratos getting all emotional is out of character. The story doesn't gel for me. I agree on the PS4 front. What they've managed to do there is a technical achievement.

    I agree . Gow Ragnarok is in no way a bad game . It's a good game but it doesnt come close to the last iteration . The story telling was ok , the combat was great ,and imo the gameplay could've been implemented more creatively . You're just going from point a to b while the game throws waves and waves of the same types of enemies with little variation , it can be mindless fun but I was expecting little more then that. But I don't think this game is a dlc. I've only done the main quests so far and I didn't have time to check out the side content so i got around 30 hours and if you call that a dlc then every aaa game rn is pre alpha or is in preproduction lol .
    And yes people will like this game because everyone else likes the game😂
    Imo Ragnarok is a strong 7/10. And the prev gow a 10/10. It's not bad but it's not as great as people hyped it up to be imo.

    It feels like you’ve missed the goal of the game. The depth in dynamics and characters and story is amazing. It’s showing Kratos after all these years of being in a constant state of torture from his own decisions, learn from his son and this new world to be a god that is worthy of worship and love. He finally feels deserving of love, not just from the world but from his own son. It seems like you just wanted the same thing over again in terms of story. Also, combat, weapons, and the excitement is renewed and in a different format. Kratos isn’t fighting with blood lust anymore, he’s fighting for to protect the ones he loves. He finally has depth. He’s finally whole.

      I understand what the developers are trying to do, but Kratos is not a feely feely type of guy. I certainly don't want more of the same as before, this is partly why I feel it's just ok, because, aside from a weaker story, the journey from one set point to another, literally feels laboured and a bit tiresome.

    I disagree. Saying that GoW Ragnarök feels like a DLC is like saying, The return of the king and The two towers feel like DLCs or spin-offs of The fellowship of the ring. It's just a story divided into three books, and God of War is also divided into a first and a second game. Therefore it makes sense that the second part is not as innovative as the first one in any way, really. It's just a game divided in two. Ragnarök just brings each storyline to its end, except Krato's storyline, so we can get more games, and maybe Atreus. And I do think that the part of the story that Ragnarök tells is as well written as the one in the previous games. I'm not saying that the game is perfect, nothing really is, and tastes are subjective, but I think that the game lives up to the hype. But it can clearly not stand on its own, as the return of the king cannot stand on its own without the previous books

      I get it, I do. You can certainly see that they're lining up Atreus as the lead in future games. Talking of which. For whatever reason, I cannot like or connect with Atreus. The acting seems off. And, what the hell was that segue with the young girl and Atreus. That was all very painful.

    • @javio3086
      @javio3086 Рік тому +1

      @@BitsBytesBobs I get what you mean with not connecting with Atreus, Kratos is a far more interesting character, but truth be told I cannot connect with the Kratos from the original games either and I love the current one. I think that some characters need to go through that first awkward phase. Atreus might become more interesting in the future, if they choose to keep going with him. At the end the game was about Kratos, not Atreus. Maybe you just don’t like teenagers hahaha

      @@BitsBytesBobs I’m not a fan of Atreus bits either, they very lacklustre but for story I get it. I can’t see me liking a game with just him, there’s just something about kratos that’s unlike any other character in any other game

    I get what this guy is saying, but to say Ragnarok was "Ok" in any means with the kind of crap all these other developers are crapping out, its almost disrespectful. I get you're just saying you're opinion and theres nothing wrong with that. But to me it just seems crazy to say anything about this game is just "ok" when you have companies like Gamefreak, EA, Ubisoft, Respawn, Activision, Blizzard who can barely seem to make functional games.

    • @BitsBytesBobs
      @BitsBytesBobs  Рік тому +1

      How is awarding a game an OK, being disrespectful of all other developers. It seems that you believe, that I should award a developer for simply developing a game. Much like a child being awarded a certificate for just turning up on sports day! Business, development and genre defining gaming doesn't work that way. If a game is great, I will shout it from the roof tops, regardless of the developer.

    • @GaryGlass1
      @GaryGlass1 Рік тому +1

      @@BitsBytesBobs because 80% of games now a days are half baked or just not finished and companies are out here charging full price. It’s literally so easy now a days to see who’s actually trying and who isn’t, so yeah I think it’s a little bit of a kick in the teeth when looks and plays this well in less than 4 years of game development when you have other companies like CR Projekt Red doing the exact same thing but releasing games in a broken state.
      Comparing a child to showing up for sports day and developers spending years on a project are 2 completely different things so that’s a poor analogy.

    • @BitsBytesBobs
      @BitsBytesBobs  Рік тому

      @@GaryGlass1 The game plays well, as I've said, it's a good game, just not great. Why don't you feel the analogy works? The other poster suggested I was being disrespectful to other developers because I didn't feel GowR was worthy of more than an OK. That is essentially rewarding someone for turning up and developing a game.

    • @GaryGlass1
      @GaryGlass1 Рік тому

      @@BitsBytesBobs maybe disrespectful is the wrong word, but I just feel like they put more than a “ok” amount of effort into making the game. Even if it’s not as good as the previous game I think it’s still nothing short but an amazing game. But if thats how you truly feel about the game then who am I to tell you to otherwise.
