    To people who have confusion:-
    Distance:- the total path covered by an object.
    Displacement:- the shortest distance between the starting to the final position

    Distant traveled basically indicates the amount of travelling distance, such as, "to get here to there, i travelled 4 km, so the distant traveled is 4km". On the other hand, there is straight shortcut to get here to there which is around 2 km, so ultimately, the displacement will be 2 km",,,,,, I guess🤔

      When you go Southeast, it makes an isosceles right triangle (45-45-90). To find the legs you divide the hypotenuse by Sqrt(2) [the square root of 2].
      The Easterly travel is canceled out by the Westerly travel. So the net displacement is:
      (20 + (2 x 8 / Sqrt(2))) km = (20 + (8 x Sqrt(2)) km = 31.3137 km South

    The narrator got a key part wrong. He said that if someone said sheep travelled 5km it would be valid. It wouldn't be valid. The sheep travelled 25km. Travelled means distance covered. The sheep covered a distance of 25km. It doesn't matter that it ended up only 5km from where it started; that part is only relevant regards its displacement.

    Is this the only difinition you have for displacement Because I see the definition of (position , coordinates , displacement) To be , and to mean Not what one does to itself But what something else does to it What happens to you as a result of An action from something else , that inturn Changes your position From where you were , to where your are now (from where you were before) This is my definition of Distance , displacement , and position !!!

    BUT HOW DO YOU FIND THE DISPLACEMENT? HOW DO U KNOW ITS 5KM SOUTH ?

    • @trixia1692
      @trixia1692 6 років тому +1

      JellyKookie Displacement = change in position. In the example given, the sheep travelled a total of 25 km. That's the total length it travelled. However, the CHANGE in POSITION the sheep has done is only 5 km from where it ORIGINALLY is. Hope this helps! :)

    • @bronzeshroud2349
      @bronzeshroud2349 4 роки тому

      displacement means shortcut. the sheep could have only traveled 5km to that position it ended her journey.

    • @johannysjimenez2625
      @johannysjimenez2625 3 роки тому

      If you observed the second part of the distance travelled, is 5km South. You just use logic and correlated the data.

    how do you know it's 5 km south

    • @sippypepsi3023
      @sippypepsi3023 6 років тому +3

      The reason why it's 5 km is because displacement is a straight line from the initial position (starting) and final position (ending)
      So its like a bridge. It connects the begging point and end point.
      Hope it helps!

    • @emikeenaife8495
