That part made me tear up. I'm a mother of 3 and I'd never deprive my children or their friends of food. I grew up poor and remember what it was like not to have much food in the house and always being hungry on Saturday mornings with nothing to eat. Just breaks my heart.

Made excuses, kept quiet, even enabled and protected my abusers. Every single adult should be a mandated reporter of child abuse. If they knew it was happening and did nothing they should be held accountable. Even if it's a stranger seeing it happening. Every adult is responsible for children because children have no rights and they can't be their own advocates. Same with the disabled and the elderly.

DCS can't just take kids or they will get accused of being child kidnappers. They have to do due diligence and substantiate accusations and follow state statutes which give Arizona parents a lot of leeway. Because of those factors it is very difficult to remove. There has to be very dangerous immediate threats to safety (needles on floors, guns laying around, etc). If you want different results give them more funding so they can reduce their caseloads and change state legislation.

@@allaboutroofing2 There are a lot of bad people in the foster system and a lot of ok people are are just insincere. Plenty of people trying to make a buck off of fostering and a lot of investigators with the state know this and are generally harder on foster parents or adoptive parents than they are on genetic parents or relatives. The issue is that the child to caretaker ratio is so high and until Arizona dedicates more resources to supporting parents in general (drug rehab, therapists, financial support, educational support, etc) the issue will prevail. Arizonans want to cheap out on issues and hope it will magically take care of itself.

The system fails alot! Me and my brother went threw in our home mental and physical abuse. As well as emotional. To this day my mother will always try to remind me as a 36 year old woman that no 1 can stand me, no 1 wants to be around me. While I attended school, the staff wasn't of any help either. If anything I was condemned more so by the attendant of the high school office. My mother bullied me alot, in every way just about. This woman at school reminded me that there was no help for children "like me." She hated me since I was gradeschool. I went to school with her daughter and she didn't understand my home life, and why I'd come to school acting the way I was treated. She was a woman who was constantly involved in school and became a employee when I got to high school. Never gave me a benefit of a doubt nor help! I covered my bruises and more than half the time, didnt show up to school! I can honestly say the female principle at that time, "was the only 1 to ask questions and investigate." After she realized what kind of parents I had and what I was going threw...she didn't report it but no longer tried to have me treated differently. She worked with me to finish schooling and get out of there! Thank you, Mrs. Meade if you are reading this. I have not forgot you!! 💜💜

The Foster parents couldn't have kids and just wanted kids of their own to love. Of course this isn't at all what happened here but in most cases there needs to be hard proof of abuse or else any kid can cry wolf if they have a tantrum to get the parents or Foster parents in trouble.

He was always screamed at, never spoken to nicely, he was allowed to play with broken glass outside in their yard. The parent never cleaned it up and told him to "go play." Their house from what I was able to see was atrocious to the point where when they moved out, the owner of the house actually did a full demo on the inside and sold it. There were other things too that I won't discuss. Anyway, so I called about him and they never came to check. No report was made and after they moved I lost track of him. So sad.

They had an income incentive for each child they adopted and would make us eat less, wear our clothes inside out and share each other's clothes (I was a boy and had 3 sisters) to save them money so they could afford 2 brand new trucks and their toys. I use to resort to sneaking to food and risk the beatings as I was growing fast and my stomach would be growling during school like a lion.
My social case workers were amazing, but I too was intimidated by my parents and I know they saw things but their hands were tied on being able to help us.

My “mother” was tremendously abusive. After losing custody of their first two children my parents went on to have 3 more. We were constantly starved, beaten, screamed at and tortured. After my father left, things got worse. She would find some guys who couldn’t stand the way she treated her children but lucked out on one guy in particular (Dave) who took great joy in handing out punishments to 3 small children. DCFS visited us several times a month, we were removed multiple times, but handed back shortly after only to be beat again for telling the authorities anything. It’s a sick joke. These people are collecting a paychecks and could care less about children. I’m a mother of 3, 2 are adults now. I just can’t imagine my children living a life like mine. I made sure they didn’t.

As a former employee of The State of Arizona that has been on field investigations, I can confirm this. I later had a foster child illegally removed from my home by a AHIT worker. They lied and said I tested positive for cocaine. I immediately went down and paid out of pocket for a hair follicle test to prove they were lying. I had every bit of evidence that my foster child was probably cared for and loved and that their allegations were false, yet they were never held accountable. Meanwhile on a field investigation there were children allowed to stay in the home of their mother without food, diapers worn for more than 24 hours. Destroyed home and the children were in physical danger. I will never understand why the department or DCS workers are never held accountable. We need to implement change like YESTERDAY! No child should ever have to experience abuse by the people that are supposed to love and protect them and it's a shame that so many endure years of abuse within our foster care system. Unfortunately, so many Foster Care/Adoption providers are only in it for the money.

This is also why it is so easy for a viscous custodial parent to keep the non-custodial parent out of the lives of their biological children.
Children have become chattel in the DCS system.
The more dependant on social services the children and custodial parents are, the greater need for DCS.
Doesn't matter if the custodial parent is male or female, with the help of DCS the non-custodial parent can be kept away almost indefinitely.

I had him for 6 months or so and his mother took back her signed agreement to let me keep him because I wouldn't let her just abandon him with me .. She had only been to see him 4 times the whole time I had him ...
Hendersonville NC dss took custody away from me and put him in foster care ...
I find out that his foster parent is a higher up dss worker for our county and she was now getting $2400. a month for him and has since put him in a group home after only 2 weeks in her care ..
I did get ebt and child support for him from dss but nothing else ..
When we went to court before they took him the presiding judge gave me full custody of him but that evening dss found a judge to sign off on taking him from me ...
The only thing dss could prove I did wrong with him was we didn't have a fire escape ladder from his window to the ground ... We Don't need one because thare is a roof under both windows in his room ...
I believe that ALL DSS across America are taking kids faulsely and banking government money to put in thare pockets. ..
It happens a lot her in Hendersonville NC and All Dss workers and thare workers should be investigated deeply from top to bottom supervisors to case workers and beyond if need be .....
If that ever happens come look here bet your gonna find out about a lot more than just greed that's a 100 % fact .....
I got people who can and will tell what thay themselves have gone through trying to get help from them or trying to get thare kids back ....
And don't get me started on SC !!
They lose thare foster kids and either they are dead or dissappear. ..
And dss offered me the same $2400. a month to take in foster kids .... this was after they took My grandson. ...
If I was such a bad grandmother then why ask me to do it ...

Absolutely. Random (possibly) disturbing and unnecessarily lengthy story: My sister was diagnosed with the most painful neurological condition known to science, which caused her to have constant, unrelenting hell-like pain in both of her legs from the time that she was in 5th grade. From that point onward, she was constantly recieving treatment -- often in crutches or wheelchair-bound. Treatment hardly helped at all. There is no true cure. My mother went with her to Pennsylvania to have her stay with the top leaders in treatment for CRPS (Her condition). After months of staying there, and countless hours of daily physical therapy, mental strengthening, etc. she was able to stand and walk. A sort of "remission." After being home for a short while, her condition relapsed after a blunt strike to her leg(s?). Long story short, she took her life freshman year of high school after enduring years upon years of unimaginable pain. (She described it as though someone replaced all the blood in her legs with gasoline and lit it on fire. This was constant.) The CPS agents that are dispatched mandatorilly after a child commits suicide had the _AUDACITY_ to say to my mother's face *"You are a terrible mother."* -- After all the _years_ she spent fighting so hard to keep my sister here. To get her well as soon as possible with the most specialized medical professionals for this field. To care for, and raise me and my brother on top of all this while being a single mother. I can hardly fathom that someone is able to say something so *evil* to a mother, who not even a day before just lost her daughter.
This is why I hate cps.

These systems know what they are doing. True story, a mother was able to kill two of her daughters, chained one underneath a kitchen table for two years, after being shot by her little sister because the mother told her to hold the gun on her, the CPS came to the house after the second daughter ran away and told the authorities CPS shows up interview all the children right in the same room with the mother. After CPS leaves she locks the second daughter in a closet until she died. What's really messed up is a lot of kids think the behavior of these abusers is normal and it's happening in every home.

My heart breaks for you. Sadly, there ARE wonderful people willing to be foster parents, but they are simply screened out! We were one such family. We bought a house with an private bedroom and bathroom specifically so we could foster to adopt. We are white, self supporting, loving parents who, even before we married, knew we wanted to foster. The case workers would come in and say things like, “those are the wrong bunk beds “ or “there needs to be a lock on this cupboard.” Hubby had the locks for the detergent cupboards right there, but they would say, “No, you have to make another appointment.” They would “reschedule” or not show.
This went on for 2 years! We ended up meeting other good families and a widowed, former principal who was told her house was “too clean.” Yet, welfare families in our class were immediately given FOUR kids at $125 PER DAY ($50 for the first and $25 each for the other 3) These families put kids in basements and attics without outside exits. That requires a judge to sign off on in my state. The foster care system is designed to perpetuate welfare, traffic children, fill state coffers and protect abusers! We switched to a private company, but they were 2 hrs away and had a huge turn over of caseworkers d/t lack of pay and huge case loads of the least placeable kidsI We received a call, like clockwork every 6 weeks to tell us the name of our new caseworker. Not one ever scheduled a visit. I’d pull out my paperwork all the time and pray for children to love. After another 2 years hubby said to put the file away. I cried for years.
We were blessed to be able to have biological children, despite fertility issues and losses. Here it is 18 years later and as I type this the tears flow. I thought I had healed from this, but I guess not. I am still heartbroken, angry and frustrated. I want to see the animal foster parents treated like the kids they abuse. I want to see neglectful/criminal CPS workers and cops jailed, but most of I want all of those precious children loved, nurtured and thriving.
