    Thank you for sharing this with us! It's so interesting to hear you talk about being able to see points in the sketchbook where things weren't going well for you or when you gave yourself permission to start having fun with it again. It sounds like it might feel a bit surreal or like looking at a time capsule, but looking at the sketchbook as you flipped through the pages, it looks like there are some really neat concepts or sketches there too! I like the several pages where you created a sort of peekaboo type frame for the sketch beneath, and the roll for tiny drawing is an AWESOME idea! I could really use something like that to get me sketching more! I look forward to seeing whatever you share here again, whenever it is :D

    It’s okay. Your healing takes the upmost place, so it’s fine if you can’t uphold everyday. I rather you take care of yourself first before doing anything else. I’m happy that you’re back. Oh This Talie by the way.

    Just sat here adding some of your teacup dragon washi tape to my little brother’s 18th birthday card (I watercoloured our cats on the front ^w^) when this vid of yours popped up!
    I’m sorry to hear you’ve been struggling with your health and your desire to create, but I am so very glad you’re coming back and there may be a video to consume and devour now and then! :> Of course I’ll still watch your Instagram updates too and love seeing your art on there as well.
    I’ve been feeling a bit similar recently, for the past few years, desire to create art waxes and wanes every few months or so.
    Which isn’t much good as I’m on an Illustration course at university and you kind of need to be working all the time, like with your full time work I suppose

    I’m not even a professional artist and I feel the pressure sometimes just thinking about having to create work on demand. Even if it’s fun and you love it, if it is work, a demand, something you must do, it can create stress. Which of course leads to burnout too
    This sketchbook is wonderful and feels so real. I love the messy pages, the beautiful rendered pieces found throughout. It’s all just so wonderful to see.
    Whatever work you put out next I’ll be looking forward to it for sure! Hope you find that fun side of art again :D
    Ooh, streams! Your streams are the only ones I join in on. Time doesn’t matter. Just to hang with you and everyone in chat live is always a good time.

    I've been going through burnout the past year as well, watching this video was such a comfort. I can relate with the perfectionism and anxiety with creating art and the frustration. Thank you for sharing this with us. I hope you keep taking care of yourself!

    You got this! I see creativity in you every day, burn out sucks but you're coming out the other end of it with a spark behind your eyes.

    I've been following you on Twitter for a long time, but didn't realize you've been making UA-cam videos for YEARS until like... I just stumbled here last year. It's nice to see a new video pop up and it's so nice how candidly you talk about your experience with burnout and the struggle to make sketchbooking and drawing fun again! I haven't touched mine for a while due to being so busy with work recently, but I feel inspired to try to work in it in little spurts more proactively again.
    Your sketches are like SO beautiful! Thank you for sharing them!

      Thank you. I really appreciate it. It's one of those I was still producing work that's cause I had to in the end, but my sketchbooks definitely showed the process was affected

    Beautiful sketches as always. The burnout is for real! Btw am I right in assuming this sketch book holds up to a few mediums without bleeding thru?

    • @sophiralou
      @sophiralou  7 місяців тому +2

      It's a struggle for sure. From what I tested it with, it held up pretty well. Now markers will bleed through, unless it's like Bristol board, marker paper, or thiiiiiick paper it will bleed through. I've just been using jelly gouache on the opposite pages to make a new piece, haha. Wet mediums held up okay, too. Honestly, it's a pretty good sketchbook
