Brilliant !!!! I’m so pleased that your video popped up. The saying you’re never too old too learn so at 83 I’m real excited to sew these strips asap. Thanks once again 🌻 calling from South Africa
Your're so good at the technical details of sewing, which make such a difference when we understand what we've been doing wrong. Thank you for sharing your gifts!
Drinking wine and listening to rock n roll! This newbie 'not-yet-a-quilter' loves this :).
Well, you said slow down and that’s what I did to see this. An incredible tutorial ! Make more tutorials on the basics. I think the great material makes the visual part so enticing. As a retired high school science teacher I would give you an A+ on this video! 😊
Thank you for taking your time and slowed down for those of us that move at a slower pace. xoxo
you make everything seem so easy for this 84 year old beginner. Love You
Congratulations on starting, you will enjoy
You and me both! I'm 67 yrs old!
78 here. Same. Rob great teacher
New quilter here! When I saw your project at first...I thought can never putt that quilt together! You made it so simple and fun. Thank you so much and will watch it often to get things down and make my quilt!!! Yea yea yea!!!
I Love This video, I have been quilting for 50 years, and I still learned 3 new things from watching your video, 1. Leaving the fabric to cool after ironing it, so you don't put the wrinkles back in (brilliant), 2. A better way to sew strips sets (shortening the stitch length), and 3. A wonderful new pattern ( I Love It).
Thank You for sharing Your Time, and Your Talent with all of us. I always enjoy your videos. It's always a good day when you learn something new, Thank You.
What Sabrina Said!
You can't even keep count of the number of tips and tricks he gives you! Simply educational, Rob Thank you!!!
Rob, I love it when you explain what happened and how to adjust when things don't go perfectly. It give me a chance to learn how I made the same mistakes. Thanks for the tutorial and making quilting more fun! Happy Quilting!
I am already hooked on this expensive habit.
Me too. But I get everything on sale, or with a coupon. It helps. Then I give the darn thing away! lol I always check out the Daily Deal at Missouri Star Quilt Company, and the Flash Sale at Fat Quarter Shop. I go to store sales, and peruse clearance racks. It is fun!!!
You want to try it in England - we don’t have as many stores so choice is restricted (and expensive) and no coupons here 🥺
@@jenniewren9351 Oh man, I am sorry!! I guess you will have to rely on sales, or internet prices.
@@jenniewren9351 like in Germany, too
I have been hooked since 2013! Haha! I am loving every minute of it! Since December of 2019 I have been working in a local family owned family Quilt shop that is a Bernina Dealer! It’s like working in a candy store almost! LOL! I am studying and taking courses to become a certified Bernina Saleswoman.
Rob you are so awesome! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and humor. I appreciate when you explain why you are doing something to help us understand and build our skills. 😊
Wow what a beautiful post I love it , how are you doing doing and I hope to hear from you soon🌹🌹🌹
Love, love, love this lesson. And I can't wait to make the design.
DUDE! My mind is blown!! I cannot believe that is a strip quilt!. Wow! This has opened my brain to a whole new way of designing easy quilts using fabrics I have that I could not figure out what to do with. This is AMAZING! Thanks, Rob!! You rock, as always :)
Thank you! Especially for the tip about shortening the stitch to lessen the pull of the feed dogs. Love all your videos, especially this series for MM Fabrics.
Wow what a beautiful post I love it , how are you doing doing and I hope to hear from you soon🌹🌹🌹

Thank you Rob you are such an inspiration love watching making it fun 🤩
Thank you so much for this video. I got so many ideas from it and can't wait to start my next adventure in strip piecing!
I love you and your style! Uplifting and fun. (duh!) The SLOW DOWN and make the stitch length shorter hint is brilliant. Without knowing it, I have actually been assembling that way for years. Maybe it was a zillion years of garment sewing. Who knows. Have the bulk off to the left of the machine just makes sense. Thank you again for your fun lessons. Have already with shared with two new quilters. Learn it correctly from the start is my motto!
Great video again Rob. Thank you!!!!!
I'm glad you mentioned pre-washing. Many people don't but it is part of my fabric prep. Thanks for an informative video.
Love this pattern! I have become a real fan of strip piecing. Thanks.❤️
This way of sewing those strips together is great because of the fabric saved. It might not be much but sometimes you on,y need a little extra. I have never heard anyone say to shorten the stitch length when sewing strips and I have been quilting for years . Thanks 😊
Lol, listening to Christmas music, drinking tea and eating chocolate! Always great.
Thank you another project for me. Love it.
I just watched the strip sewing tut. You just jade it easier than I thought. I will be sure to see more. I have been sewing for at least 10 years and have made 35 quilts and other craft projects with fabric. Thank you !!!
What a great idea and fun to watch!
"Waterskiing" omigosh I will NEVER forget that visual! Thanks Rob, you have a new fan :)
Hi Rob, I use a 5lb dumbbell to hold my ruler down on long cuts, it works great! I learned this from Donna Jordan, my other fav!!!
When my bird joins me in my sewing room he perches on the dumbbell and watches me if he's not trying to supervise! 😂
Don’t birds poop without notice. 🥴
@@karencooley6723 LOL no he is on a schedule, I have his number and hold a paper towel under him every half hour or so, we have had accidents though but not in my sewing room. 😆
Kinda wondered that myself...
Me too
Wow! You make it fun. I just started quilting and working on a sampler pattern. So many things I have done wrong and grateful I have come across this video. Thank you Rob.
Whoa! Welcome back Rob!!! I just stumbled upon your video and I am thrilled that you are back online.
Thank you, Michael Miller Fabrics for adding Rob into your team! I'm subbed up, with a happy face today. Looking forward to to all the wonderful teaching and creations he will bring into my sewing room.
Happy Spring!

Love your videos!!! Thanks for creating!
I keep wanting to PLAN too much! The excitement comes from the surprise - thank you!!
This is great. I bought this pattern and was afraid to make it. Now that I’ve seen this I think I can try and succeed! Thank you so much.
I'm so glad I came across this video! You are amazing and an awesome teacher! I'm still fairly new at quilting but I'm enjoying the learning process! It helps tremendously that you make learning fun! Thank you! Stay Blessed in love and light! 💜
Thank you for new lessons learned, reinforcing skills, & an awesome new pattern! It doesn't get any better. 🌟
Awesome tutorial! Love all the tips! Thank you!
I love the 3 Dudes pattern! Made it last fall with the Jade Ombre Borders fabric... thinking I might need to do another version!
I really like Michael Miller fabrics. I enjoy watching you too Rob, your enthusiasm is catching! Sew on brother!
Wow what a beautiful post I love it , how are you doing doing and I hope to hear from you soon🌹🌹🌹
This was brilliant!! Solved 3 of my problems right here thank you!!
Learned a bunch and you validated a few things I already do as a beginner! You’re awesome!
That’s so clever. You make it look so easy, thank you.
Love your quilting classes.
Your videos are informative and FUN to watch! I love that you find alternatives to how quilts are made and that you sometimes use construction terms helps make it clear to me!
Wow you are a appreciate woman wish all would be like you well I hope we could be friends and get to know more about each other if you don’t mind
Although I took home ed in HS way back when I never got into sewing machines until the face mask crunch. LOVE your attitude and your clear explanations. You're techniques make my fingers itch to retry quilting. Looking forward to seeing more of your online journey. Thank you!!
GREAT instructional! Thank you, I really needed all those extra learning tips.
Rob, this is amazing. You're tutoring is clear and easy to follow. The length is worth every minute. You're so funny. And your block is waww...unbelievable great. Thank you so much for this very unique block. I ❤ it.
i learned a lot from this video - lots of good tips - I like how with your system, you always know where you are by pressing and sewing to the next piece; thanks! (plus that fabric line is so fun)
I am so thrilled about what you shared. New quilter who's head explodes when I see all the complicated designs. I will use this as my next and only my third quilt. Great presentation!
I love your tutorials, it’s so much fun, thank you from Innisfil Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Awesome video, thank you! Love the resulting pattern. So glad to finally hear and see someone who admits the problem of strip sewing by sewing up and down. I've struggled with that method, especially when it leaves me just that little bit short. Sticking with what works for me, which is how you sewed your strips together. Thank you, Rob.
FIRST TIME!! OMG thank you!! I am a brand new sewer of anything. Thank you for going slow and explaining everything! Thank you for explaining pressing. No wonder I have quit even trying to sew. Now I am super excited to try again!!!
Never give up! Use mistakes as learning opportunity! Mistakes are best teachers,as more we mess up,loose time and even money, more we learn at the end and more lesson stays with us...especially when picking up new crafting technique and when don’t know almost nothing about craft, know ahead you’ll make ton of mistakes, accept them ahead of time, embrace them.more you will value every lesson, every wow moment when you realise how to avoid problem and when you’ll become grate at what you do you’ll know you got there cos of you’re persistence and ability to observe and learn...sewing really just looks easy, but it’s quite complicated craft, craft where devil is in detail and every tip and trick matters...Give you’re self time to learn all about machine, fabrics, problem shooting with bad stitches.Hope you gonna have grate time and gain loads of confidence in nothing of time and create beautiful things, get satisfaction of all process of learning and just doing, just wish you and every new crafter in any craft best of luck and best energy through hardest time-when you’re still learning and gaining experience and confidence,so yeah, never give up on you’re dreams and ambitions, keep in mind that in a year if you keep doing whatever you choose,if you’re persistent, you’ll be grate! 💐🤗🍀
So glad you are back Rob, I enjoy your tutorials ,I love the design the strips have created.Iooking forward to seeing more of your designs,
Rob..... thank you again for being YOU and teaching a lesson or 10 also!! Luv MM Fabrics now because of you
Beautiful, I will try making it. Thank you for sharing.
Lots of great tips. Thank you Rob.
Hello 👋
My friend brought that block in yesterday to our quilt group a lot of the ladies are going to be making that Thanks watch you way back when!
Resting the fabric...I never thought of that but what a great idea. By The Way, I wash all my fabric first, just a preference of mine.
Thank you
Good job Rob. That pattern is cool.
Thank you Rob... awesome job.
Awesome, Rob - so enjoyed this!
Love the pattern and your choice of colors. Thank you for the tips too.
😍😍😍😍😍Wow what a beautiful post I love it , how are you doing doing and I hope to hear from you soon
I thought that pattern looked so complicated until you used those strips. Thanks Rob, for show us how simple some quilting can be!
Wow you are a appreciate woman wish all would be like you well I hope we could be friends and get to know more about each other if you don’t mind
Thanks Rob. Great tutorial. Love them all, have been watching you since you were Man Sewing
Really liked this video. I sewed my strips just like you said and they came out beautiful. Ty.
You made a complicated looking pattern possible. Thank you Rob for all your advise. 💕
Wow you are a appreciate woman wish all would be like you well I hope we could be friends and get to know more about each other if you don’t mind
I am so happy I chose this video to watch today, I have been sewing a long time and thought I had covered all the little tips to make life easier, I will now keep track of how I sew my strips, so I am not always looking at the back to see which way to iron, my to have them all going in one direction, thank you so much for that little tip and also I agree with being careful not to stretch your fabric when you iron and to let it cool down before sewing.
How cool for you that you got this Michael Miller gig! I love MM fabrics and your vids as well!
Great video. Great lesson... One of your best
I like your voice. Very easy to listen to you. I am 80 years old so hearing isn’t the best and I really like the way you put those blocks together. Thank you so much tonight it’s the first night I’ve listen to you Arnold Schwarzenegger says I’ll be back.
So glad that someone credited Donna Jordan with the tip of using the weight. I actually use that with all my cutting unless it's a really short cut. Picked up a couple good tips from this video, thanks Rob! Just found out my niece is having another baby soon and love this pattern for a baby quilt! Will play with strip width and # of strips to get a good size. Thank!
😍😍😍😍😍Wow what a beautiful post I love it , how are you doing doing and I hope to hear from you soon
So glad I watched your video. The block is beautiful.
WOW! Love it. You're such a Great teacher. Thanks so much.
Love this quilt! Thanks Rob!
Thank you for the video. I'm a beginner and this helps. Stay safe and huge hugs. 🤗
Great job Rob. An easy quilt which looks difficult.
Well Rob you did another wonderful video. I have been kind of stuck in a rut with 2.5 rolls. This is great seeing the variation of widths then making the half square triangles. Great new look.
I found this tutorial recently, liked it and filed it away in my head. Today I rewatched it cuz I found some fabric in my stash that would really work for this project. So....thanks for filming & sharing. I'm excited to get started
Rob this was totally awesome!!! Thank you for teaching this block.
Wow what a beautiful post I love it , how are you doing doing and I hope to hear from you soon🌹🌹🌹
Thank you for this! It is very helpful!! I started a strip quilt after watching your old video on the # dudes. My strip sets were bowed slightly. I went to the alternating direction method, but you're right, you lose length. Slowing down and shortening my stitch length have straightened out my strips. Can't wait to get to making blocks! (I'm long winded too! LOL)
Wow!!! I learned so much in this video - thank you Rob . I’ve made many very beautiful quilts for 7-8 years now , and your teachings definitely got my attention . Thank you ! Will always follow you !
As many strips as I have sewed, there’s always room for improvement, and this video helped a lot! Thank you.
Great pattern. I am into quick and easy right now. Michael Miller makes the best fabrics. Big fan of the Fairy Frost line. You do the best videos.
