Busy First Day of Dry Bean Harvest

Sorry folks, no mud here. The rain went on a vacation this fall and it was wonderful. Beans were dry, the soil was dry, all was dry; nothing more delightful. Other than the fan belts and a bearing needing fixed since the end of last season, the combine repairs were minimal. In season fixing has been limited to a connector link for the unload auger chain. I'm telling ya, dryness make everything better. Which, I want some insight on the tip of the wet kernel staying on the cob and how that plays into yield loss. - Наука та технологія
Jacob, it's all about the numbers. And with the very tight margins we have in farming today, you have to squeeze every penny you can get. The inputs are so high and yields unpredictable we have to control as many factors that are within our ability. If you have to combine beans later into the night to pick up moisture, that's what we do. You're giving the elevator money when you ship them beans below 13%.
I always enjoy your planting/harvest videos Jake. Old school are always the best.
Beans ,Beans, the magical fruit.
It was a nice dry 6 weeks or so. Here's to a great new year.
I solved a similar problem with the chopper by raising the pan under the rear beater at the back of the rotors up one hole. That way everything got thrown to the chopper. Looks like part of your discharge is falling out before it gets to the chopper.
your farm is really cool with all the old equipment
Nice combining Jacob have a great day.
This combine is turning out to be a good purchase.
Love it
You should make your own extensions for your combine
Good looking beans! l love that bean dust! The feel and smell of money!😃
Looking good jacob and brennin
The gift that keeps on giving. Thanks for the videos Happy new year 🎉
Enjoying these videos 🙂
Me to. Very nice to see and follow the operations
Great awesome video Jacob
Good gob
Good video.
You're doing fine with the stalks--it's that coupling with the bolts flailing around that cringes me, and I don't cringe much....
I for one would love to see more of your vegetable production.
Mulch layer, transplanting procedure, propagation and so on.
P.s. keep up the good work!
Very nice video
Nice, we had bean harvest in October 15th to the 21st
Good stuff
That spread pattern would work nicely for what we do. Rake 2 passes together and round bale it for cattle roughage and bedding, the manure gets it back to the field.
We have a 2x12 on the shallow side of our smaller gravity boxes. That makes us unload on the door side of the wagon (You must have edited out the first dump that ran out on the ground?) and cures the distance problem without over-filling the heavy side of the wagon.
Tilt the chopper up to get a better spread, should help
So, I've been catching up on your entire channel and am curious. Who is Brennan? Who was, and what happened to Brad? Brennan seems like a decent guy with a good head. He definitely tries hard. Nick seemed to be an interesting touch of entertainment but less than beneficial to the operation.
Great videos as always. Hope that new camera keeps working. Looking forward to more Boehm Farm action!
Brad is driving semi now. Brennan, I met from UA-cam. He knows how to many things.
Nick just showed up.
@Boehm Farm Thanks for the catch up.
What happened to Nick?
There will be a video eventually. You're not going to believe it.
Jacob one of these days you’ll have to get a drone.
👍👏👏👏
How many bushels are the wagons? And what's the bushel capacity of the combine?
I was wondering if you have set chopper to high speed for beans? And adjust feeder drum for direct cut crops ? We ran a tr for many years before we got the cr .
🇨🇦
I've been away for a while. How is Brad and where is he these days?
Brad is driving truck
Question, do you ever round bale the bean straw?
We did that once. Thought about it this fall, but always a scramble.
@@boehmfarm4276 depending on organic matter in the soil, could lead to a good bussiness venture. But only so many hours in the day.
Is That big Ford parked there from planting or what
Hope we see it cruising soon …
Hey Jacob, i have dual spinners on my TR75, not sure if they will fit your 86 but if you are interested in them let me know.
Definitely interested. I need to see if they'll fit.
I don't understand people that harvest at high moisture, unless it's going to a feedlot for cow feed. Did you sell the grain truck?
Yes, didn't use it enough. And I bought a 300 bushel box to put on the flatbed if needed.
What do you consider high moisture?
@@jaredmoorman1300 anything over 15. But traditionally here they harvest high moisture for grinding between 20 and 30
@@koryleague8833 we couldn’t wait til it was 15… to many acres to get over. Corn that dry shells bad at the head so there is also more field loss. Also look up studies on phantom yield loss… we start when moisture is it the mid to low 20s here
@@jaredmoorman1300 never had a problem with that much head loss. Besides most elevators dock it to 15 so when give the elevator free grain
were did Nick go, never see him anymore in your video s
Lol, I'll make a video eventually, but he's been getting himself into some real trouble.
@@boehmfarm4276 oh oh naughty Nick :)
You run a 20 foot bean head?
Yep
@@boehmfarm4276 oh ok 👍
Where’s Nic been?
That'll be a fun video eventually. You're not going to believe it.
