CW for Life: The Max George NG7M Ham Radio Story
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 вер 2023
- Max George NG7M has many, many pursuits within ham radio but there is one consistent thread - an abiding love for CW. He can’t explain what it was about this mode back in his earliest memories of ham radio but his passion for morse code, and the thrill he gets from running stations, drives his choices. Whether learning contesting under the tutelage of W7CT, setting an Expedition Single Op record in the 7QP, honing his contesting chops at the famed PJ2T station in Curacao, or earning his DXpedition stripes on the J28MD Djibouti effort, Max is usually running CW. Watch this episode to learn more about Max George and his NG7M ham radio story.
Max is a great guy. Always helpful!
Great interview. Very motivating to improve my CW skills. N7TEI
Max is a great member of the Ham Radio community. He has been extremely helpful with his videos and with education on the K4D!
I got the pleasure of watching my 11 year old son pound out 20 POTA Cw contacts yesterday for the first time. Super cool. I however, cannot. He’s being taught by the LICW club. Great group of people there for sure. Thanks again for the interview. All the best!
Thanks for watching and weighing in!
Been watching Max for years with his CW videos. Max's background in the video is epic!!!!!
Funny timing, your interview with 4Z1UG is background music in my office today. 73, KT
@@w1dedworldwidehamradio LOL...I'm not sure I"d call it music...more like rambling....
Max is a member of the W8S Swains team. (October 2023)
I used to contest at Alan Brubaker’s (SK) place in Draper too. That’s where I met Max. Alan’s shack was rustic to say the least. It was in a block building in the middle of his urban farm in Draper Utah about 20 miles south of Salt Lake City. I recall operating with the low light, watching the spiders tend to their webs on the corner of the desk. Out of the corner of my eye I suddenly spotted something that made me jump. It was the small horse from the yard staring me in the face. Yes it really was a farm.
Alan’s place really wasn’t the kind of place you hung out to chat with the other operators. It was not heated except for whatever stove he had out there and the lights were pretty low. I used to come in for the late night shift and Max was frequently the op I relieved so we kind of did a simple shift change and that was it. But I’m glad we have managed to stay in touch via email since I moved away to a Florida. I watch all his videos and still learn much from him. He always says hi when we work in contests too.

Good job! JF9JTS
Great Interview.
Thank you! Second one for Max. He'll be back again!
@@w1dedworldwidehamradioI have been “aware” of contesters and Dx expeditions. I became aware of Max when he did a an Interview on AA0Z’s page where he mentioned you had interviewed him. He gave a very casual 10 minute Master class with live demonstration on working split and working the pile up from both sides, Mind Blowing! I had no idea there was Master Jedi level “stuff” going on with these guys and he “Just hopes he can contribute to the group of much more experienced guys he is with” I may have had a mini stroke trying to wrap my head around the level of Operators that are wondering around out there pretending to be normal humans.
@@w1dedworldwidehamradio So I was "Aware" of CW contesters and DX expeditions. I became aware of Max when he did an Interview with Kyle AA0Z in which he mentioned your interviews. Thanks I subscribed to his channel with your reference N7ZXG
Careful with the drone footage stuff if you don't have your 107. The FAA is being a bit silly with it for recreational fliers and what might constitute commercial "in pursuit of a business" use.

How much can you make as a CW operator?
Good luck with everything Max. Thanks for your generously sharing your knowledge and expertise. 73 de Ady G6AD (K4D #482)
