Any suggestions or thoughts on lab created diamonds, I know there are no flaws or inclusions in the lab created ones. Thanks! btw, I absolutely enjoy your show, it is informative and entertaining! thanks again
+Mickey Crisp Actually, lab-created diamonds can/will have "flaws", because they are "grown" from real diamonds. The tell, in most cases is, that lab-grown diamonds must have a laser-inscribed, maker's mark, and be fully disclosed as such pre-sale.
I agree but there have been cases where some non reputable companies have mixed in cut lab created diamonds in with natural ones, and the only true and sure way to know that there lab-created or natural diamonds is to take it to a gemologist or the GIA ( Gemological Institute of America ) there in every major city around the world and they will be able to test and cert it for you. They have the right equipment for that. and there is no way to tell if a diamond is synthetic or natural by touch or eye.
I agree with abraham. It's very difficult, or nearly impossible, to certify real from some good fakes. The laboratory can 99.99% assure genuine from fake.
I tried that once with a man made moissanite diamond I got on wish for 40.00 it’s real had to take it in and get it tested but was just curious and it’s only worth it as a gift not accrual price value which I was ok with gave it to someone for Christmas in a necklace
Once you know what to look for, you can. Moissanite is double refractive; diamond is not. Look for the railroad tracks at a 45 degree angle into the facets, it's a dead giveaway for moissanite. And, moissanite will usually display some pink and lavender fire that diamond never will.
I'm friends with a Gemologist. He confessed the only way he could discern the difference between a real diamond and a fake is to examine them under a microscope. He's been a Gemologist for at least 40 years and owns a family jewellery business--and he was born in Switzerland....so...I don't know what this guy's talking about.
Holy christ is that like a watchologist? A cockologist? Wait kinda like a vaginologist. Did he tell you that over the phone or in person. How did you get it outta him did you waterboard him with a torturologist?
I like Rick. He's a businessman and the cards happened to fall in his favor. He's living the dream. Instead of hating we should be takin' notes. I think he puts up with the idiots around him too much. It scares me to think one day the heirs will sell the shop for pennies and put up a bowling alley.
So you're fine with price fixing? Everywhere diamonds are mined in large quantities, slave labor is being used. Workers were shoveling diamonds into containers. When only 10% are let out on the market, I don't think they're not rare. /watch?v=_wJYkWpd6OY /watch?v=aaqQjIzIbiY /watch?v=uRGp0x8ZE8w
How do I spot a fake reality show with STAGED bargaining? Funny how none of the people on these shows never (and i mean NEVER) mention how much money they are making per show. BTW the answer is $10,000 to $20,000 an episode.
that is a yes and a no there but your on the right track there... if all depends if that piece of coal has enough of the elements required and has a high enough content of carbon in it ^^_ but your on the right track of thought there... and speaking of 3D printing there is a company working on Printing in Platinum and gold so I think its a few more years before there can do diamonds ^^_
If it's Corey, he'll add, "Look...I can give you $202 if it helps you out my man..." Then the old man will say " Just give him $185 and be done with it"
As I noticed at least one person mention in the comments for this video, rick is only partially correct which really makes his entire answer/assertion incorrect. The girdle of a diamond can actually be 3 different types: Bruted(rough), Polished(smooth), Faceted(Teeny little facets going around the girdle). Not trying to be a snob but if you take his word as fact then in the future you may dismiss a real diamond as a CZ simply because of his incorrect information.
The flush test works every time. Flush the rock down the toilet. If it floats after the flush it's a diamond. If it isn't a diamond it gets flushed away like the crap it is. Try it.
Geologist here. Fluid inclusions are the only real reliable way to tell with the newer higher quality fakes out there. Cheaper ones, he is right on the money here. Buy fake.
Correct. This is because most modern "fakes" are in fact not fake at all. There is a difference between a synthetic diamond and a fake diamond. Both are relatively worthless compared to natural diamond, but synthetic diamond is none the less "real diamond".
I’ve been getting those man made diamonds from eBay. They sparkle like crazy and I don’t care if they get lost. They do cut glass, so they’re pretty hard but not diamond hard. Pretty close. They fail the news print test though. Everyone thinks they’re real so that’s fun.
You can learn a lot from this show. I'm amazed at how knowledgeable Rick is in so many areas. Unfortunately, my teenage boys are addicted to a show call "Hardcore Pawn". It features a father, son & daughter team that berate and mock each other as they interract with some of the most hopeless souls imaginable in the burnt out city of Detroit. The show teaches & promotes disrespect in it's rawest form and I curse the day my kids stumbled upon the program. Les Gold & his kids are true Gavones!

I like the diamond cut at the base explanation.I don't buy diamonds, but at least I have an idea of what is and what isn't real. This was worth the time to watch.Thanks.
I saw someone try the water test if it sinks it’s real if it floats it’s fake but with that guys video he used the whole earring so you couldn’t really tell.
@@SilverFox_82 bro those test useless who the hell buys a diamond 😂 people buy jewelry with diamonds already mounted so best way is diamond tester or that little scope he got
If someone was trying to sell a diamond for $50 bucks and it was really a moissanite, hey, I might take them up for it, considering that moissanite sells for more than $500 and more. Depending on size, they are in the 1000's. $50 bucks is a steal for moissanite. And seriously, with the price of things going up, even QVC has jacked the prices up on their Diamonique, so stuff I used to buy for $20, 30, 40 or more is now close to $70-100, so again, a steal. JMHO.
Rick always uses that same gesture with his hands when he talks! And that fake laugh. I mean I guess I like the guy. His son, Big Hoss, is so disrespectful!! They both need to lose weight before they drop dead from a heart attack. I enjoy watching the show but, in all I like the Dad. He's the wisest one of all. I can hear him saying...back in the day....

I was busted in Vegas one time 1994 and had to pawn some diamond earrings and a necklace. I believe it was Rick who helped me at the late night window. He told me about the diamond scam industry and gave me $15.00 for it all. Lol! I wasn't laughing then though.
I should have known some idiot would make a senseless reply! I don't like some of the things about these guys but that doesn't mean I don't like the show all together. And what do you think I can do about it!!?? Geez! Some people! What you said doesn't even make sense!!??
The way to tell if a diamond is true diamond, or manufactured cubics zerconia (aka a real diamond, BUT made in a lab under artificial means)...is to check to see if the cubics is TOO perfect! Real diamonds are not perfect. Not even close. A cubics is manufactured and is pretty much a diamond, but not one mined, and is thus not authentic.
Don't buy drugs on the streets of Las Vegas either. I tried buying some weed, and ended up with popurri inside some toilet paper. I smoked the popurri anyway, hoping it would get me high. Didn't work, and my breath smelled like burnt lilacs.

Someday, we might be able to make diamonds on 3D printers.
but it won't be made of diamond
