I had the same bike for 3 years only 600 L5, and did a cat delete... With M4 slip-on my ears were ringing after 15 min, it was intense even with db-killer insert. I would say it was sounding perfect before the cat delete with the M4 slip-on, and that slip-on suit the bike very well! Agreed 100%. on my L6 GSXR 750, I have not even change the stock can. The exhaust is titanium, light and sounds pretty decent. "No power commander, no bazzaz and it's not running lean" you got dyno stats to prove it? But I'm glad I ain't alone who feels cat delete isn't really necessary. Great content overall. Thanks for your inputs.
The bike is running lean from factory. It won't change much at all with this slip on but no tune don't expect any power gains at all. Plus do NOT buy bazzaz unless you are actually going on the dyno. I've tried it on several bikes on the bazzaz tune and they are sooooooo bad and the bikes runs like hell
I watched a youtube video a guy named More Mafia he had a GSXR 750 stock it had 123 horsepower ..he added full exhaust and then he ECU flashed it and it made 133 horsepower on his dyno ..i have a 2017 GSXR 750 and thats the mods i am doing ..sounds better and i just think its safer to have full exhaust cars hear you coming ..it also helps a tiny bit in the handling and stopping from less weight
16:18 This is the sound that I love, I've listen to them all, this higher note inline 4 sound is the best for my taste, a lot of inline 4's sound more like V twins to my ears, they just don't get that cool GP Formula One sound, like the difference between a V12 Ferrari and a Detroit V8.
Hey man, When I had my L7 GSXR 750, I had a cat delete and Woolwich Racing ECU flash. Every gear was super smooth from low RPM to redline and the bike gained 9.6bhp. Personally speaking, I felt no power gain and wished I hadn't wasted money.
That’s the problem for me, you got a bike that puts out ~130hp and at best might get 5-10hp gain, in reality you’re never going to notice the difference. For most people it’s in their head, they want to justify the money spent lol. Honestly just gearing the bike -1/+2 you’ll notice more of a difference that anything else, just my .02 😄👍🏻
Depends on the model. No bike is equal. 2011 FZ1 I had, full exhaust, K&N, airbox mod, Ivan's Performance ECU flash and custom fuel mapping, and it picked up 21 horsepower, eliminated all torque dips, make the throttle so much more controllable, engine lost a lot of vibration, and all original fuel economy was retained. Every bike will have different results because every bike is restricted for emissions and noise differently. These are NOT "power mods" they are restriction-eliminators.
I got to agree, you don't actually always need a cat delete as the bikes mostly are designed to run with this setup, i personally do need a cat delete on my R1 as the bike tends to run hot whenever the temperature rises north of 20°C( sorry, i don't know how much this is in fahrenheit), this and the fact that the runs lean from the factory make it "kinda" mandatory, else i will probably be overheating the engine one of these days... But that's a personal idea
So your reasons are warranty and "engine longevity". I'd suggest doing a tune once your warranty is up. You might think your engine is running "perfect" but it is most certainly NOT. These bikes come from the factory VERY restricted. Air/fuel is off, ignition timing is off and your secondary throttle blades are electronically controlled and are RESTRICTED. Getting a tune or an ECU flash from a reputable source is not going to cause you any damage, it will actually have better air/fuel ratio, so your logic is completely backwards. It blows my mind that you post UA-cam videos, own a motorcycle, and can't take the time to do simple research before telling people wrong facts.
Had a 2008 GSXR 600 and I did the cat delete w m4 slip on. Never got it tuned and it ran strong for the 3yrs I owned it. I did feel lag at low rpms from dead stop tho. And honestly after awhile I got tired of it being “too loud” 😅
Listen to this guy, this is exactly how I think. I had the L8 Gixxer 750 left it alone and was all good. Now I have a L0 Gixxer 750 and will leave it alone too! Good work mate 👍
Fact check : TRUE ! U should have a brand new bike Dyno-tuned also because every motorized product that comes out of a factory is tuned LEAN because of EPA Regulations for fuel mileage and pollution. U have more air than fuel flowing thru the motor when running lean and that's not good and will destroy your motor. Delete the cat and that also adds more air flow. Gas is oil and a lubricant also. So if want it to last a long time get it Dyno-tuned even with the cat still on your bike you won't regret it 🏍️ Go fast be safe 😜
Obviously you have not had experience on a properly dyno tuned catless GSXR. Buying a pre loaded generic PC5 is not ideal by any means as many different variables such as full exhaust, slip on, any combo with a baffle versus without. You are better off buying a Dobeck fueler which is easily adjustable.
Your absolutely right about the subject. Our modern sport bikes run lean from the factory. Euro 4,5. You start deleting cats your asking for a way too lean condition. I don't care about making more power myself. I'm more interested in a clean well running machine. I know you can put a ton of miles on these machines if there properly maintained. I have this 2018 gsxr 1000r. I was curious about a flash to richen it up some. I think your bikes fuel tables are much closer to a proper air fuel mixture. I actually might benefit from a ECU flash. I would certainly never ever delete the cat without that. In fact I won't get it flashed unless I decide to buy a full high quality yoshi, akrapovic or M4 system. Take care and safe summer
A lot of people on the k6 k7 and up 600 and 750 remove the cat,and replace it with short midpipe, and exhaust. Therefore they lost power somewhere compared to the stock map..If you delete the cat, your new exhaust must be so long, like the original gas route..then you dont loose power somewhere..you win ewerywhere..for example: the k7 750 have a very short catbox with a little exhaust tip in the end,but the gas route from enter to the exit, somewhere 105-110 cm..now you can understand why yoshi make this curve under the bike..
I was thinking of doing a full system but decided against it and just went with a slip on. The bike makes enough power for the streets and like you said, if I did anything it would be changing the gearing before anything else. Nice video.
The engine is happier not breathing through a catalytic converter. Adding fuel to the map is literally the most basic aspect of a tune, whether it be canned, or IRL on the dyno.
Its not "breathing" aka sucking in air through a catalytic converter lol. It only goes out that way and actually creates a lot of back pressure to help with torque. Not everyone wants to put their bike on a dyno. Maybe for a 1000 its worth it but definitely not a 600.@@elonmust7470
i can confirm the lag at low rpm, i got a 22 gsxr 600 with a voodoo 3/4 exhaust with the power commander 6 and its kinda shitty that is does that, but the trade off for the sound makes it worth it for me!
Totally true. A lot of people mod their bikes to go fast in a straight line. Nothing wrong with it though haha. Yeah man I want to take my bike to Chris Moore in SC to get tuned. I have a slip on and flash but I think it was better when it was stock. I think the flash sucks.
I have a GSXR750 L5. I've done an M4 GP slip-on and Cat delete, it sounded great but was rubbish, not content with that, I put a full Yoshimura system and got it flashed, WOW what a bike, chalk n cheese man, get it done so quick but so trackable and so forgiving, another upgrade I surgest is a Brembo 19 RCS master cylinder, that sorts the really bad front brake problem. Ps. I also have an Irish sports horse and the wife has Thourabread they are fine when I start the Suzuki up.
Well you pretty solved the problem there. Installed the M4 GP (shorter and leaner system with less backflow by default) without tuning. Of course the Yoshimura will sound better with tuning.
07 gxr 1k. Still got cat on, and the bike is still 🔥. However, i wanna hear the popcorn; meaning i want to tune, cat delete, dyno-if possible. Btw, great video
ah.. you got me thinking!..... definitely for 2 strokes running lean is a big issue. but 4 strokes in 3000-4000 rpm?! mmmm.. don't know! Usually heat is an issue in high RPMs. But even with a full exhaust, there is enough back pressure after 5-6K+ RPMs (too much gas to exit). Also by leaving the oxygen sensor in, bike's ecu will do the adjustments (lean/rich) by readings from output gas. So...... not sure if lacking the power in mid-range is because of the mixture ratio. Must be less gas to compress (escape from the cylinder). sorry didn't mean to bring up the argument here. I am sure there are tons of forums out there! I was just thinking loud!
ive NOT rode in 30 years and got a new Z900, i LOVE it but your not joking 70 mph and NO windshields horrifying! lol Torque feels like its gonna shoot out from under me. lol i got almost full gear, need boots and air vest. lol its almost broke in!!!!
I have a question. Your bike only has one O2 sensor, which is before the cat. If the sensor is before the cat, deleting the cat will not affect the sensor's readings. Right?
Ya man these modern cats are not like the ones from the 80s. You are probably sacrificing the back pressure when you remove them. Modern Engines should be left alone. I put a full system on my cruiser cause it's Carbureted, and with no Tac I need to hear it to not redline it on the highway. Of course I had to mod the carb to correct the mixture. Runs slightly rich which is better than lean for any of you that don't know.
Firstly, I hope y'all forgive my english. There is no point to delete cat or change exhaust systems or install PowerCommander. Except for sound. Couple of hp's don't do a shhht. Yeah, they all adds probably about 5hp (same as in moped)? Big deal? Diet and buying tight leathersuit will help You more than anything. (turbokit excluded) And if loud sound is Your thing, remove whole exhaust system! Well, i have been looking for m4 gp slip-on (same that You (SALTxTHExWOUND+Heather) have) for my k8 750, but no success (here in Finland). I have ride (rode, ridden... etc) completely without slipon (but cat in), No big diff against stock. Hmmm... more vodka or more talking....
I was thinking the same, I just want to ride, I like the body modes but not really performance modes with the exception of the slip on, thanks for the information
It sounds to me, after all that said, you're just a mature young man who, first of all, doesn't do things because EVERYONE ELSE thinks it should be done, and second, you actually THINK about the future and life of your things. If that's fair to say??? And IMO, there is ZERO things wrong with that. Personally, I wish more of you, younger generation, men AND women had less of the "TUNNEL VISION" and also the desire to do what everyone else does or care about what they think. DO YOU!!! Right!? Lol. I do still freaking LOVE your bike tho! Everytime I watch one of videos, it starts bouncing ideas in my head!
Usually I put a slip on exhaust, I have a18cbr500 with just a slip on . It really sounds amazing, but… to slow. I bought a 2021 gsxr600 with 1000 miles. Totally stock. It is a rocket. It flys and it’s exhaust sounds great. It needs nothing. Best decision
I've ridden one with a flashed ECU and honestly felt no difference. Plus I want my engine to last as long as possible. I've seen too many people blow theirs up not long after a flash
What is the reason the bike runs lean after deleting the cat? 2011 and up GSXR's have a butterfly to give it back pressure etc as needed and the 02 sensor is pre-cat not post. I was wondering if you can source your information about engine damage so I can do some research as I just bought a 2011 with 8k miles and it has a voodoo pipe on it with cat delete. Thanks bro love your content!
@@SALTxTHExWOUND Hey Salt, he states at 3 minutes and 36 seconds in that video that he isn't going to say its lean enough to damage the engine. Heres the link to the timestamp of the video. ua-cam.com/video/Sf5FfA1j590/v-deo.htmlm36s As for the hesitation, I will have to check that out when the bike gets delivered, 15 to 16 lean is what the manufacturers do for emissions normally, and probably in this case to keep the front tire down easier. For instance, when I tune with HP Tuners, Chevrolet is notorious for doing that on their LS engines to manage tire spin, adding fuel down low is an effective way to simulate power adding and make the customer very happy. I would imagine if you put a wide band on your bike as it sits in that RPM range you will also be that lean. Thanks for pointing me in that direction tho.
@@SALTxTHExWOUND I can confirm the stumble is real. The bike came Monday and definitely has a stumble bumble fumble between 3-5k rpm and honestly is just way too loud for everyday riding with no cat and the voodoo muffler. I have the stock exhaust with cat I'm putting on next week and also ordered an M4 GP slip on and carbon fiber heat shield that will be here thursday. Thanks again bro.
If you bought a full exhaust system then the cat will be deleted. There will be no engine issues as long as you get the bike properly tuned for the new exhaust system.
Have a k7 750.. all I did was open the exhaust valve all the way and unplug it because it broke. No need for extra power or noise. All that does is alert local law enforcement 🤣
I got the 2018 gsxr blue i’m keeping it all stock not even a slip on I don’t want loud obnoxious bike I’m not a teenager anymore Plus I don’t want the attention from law-enforcement😎
Another thing you didn't mention.....COST! The M4 full Ti exhaust I've been drooling over is like $100 MORE than a Borla catback exhaust for my damn car! So, that exhaust is basically $1400. PCV, about $400. Then, if you do it "right", ECU flash...anywhere from $75-400, depending on options. You're basically looking at $2000. I'd love to do it one day, but for now, I just can't justify it...I've got better things to spend $2000 on! And, like you, I don't "need" more power. 😅👌🏼
or gut the catalyst, throw on a slip-on, & get a dyno tune. For $600 you can have your 750 wipe the floor with stock 750s, AND it will last just as long as the choked stockers.
Think exhausts are biggest waste of money.....for one on streetbikes they are crazy fukin expensive and 2 they don't do whole lot anyway.....like you said you don't need the power or can you Even use what you have........some tail cans are ridiculously huge I get that but really......nobody cares if you have a pipe, lol.......they really don't As long as bike runs clean....I would be more apt to get a tune to richen it up a lil bit as most bikes are lean But 3k exhaust, especially on 130-180 hp bike....thats insane imo

Hi big bro! How are you?
Advance congratulations for 100k subscribers.✌️ Take care, ride safe and stay safe.❤️
You're brothers?
Hey man,
When I had my L7 GSXR 750, I had a cat delete and Woolwich Racing ECU flash.
Every gear was super smooth from low RPM to redline and the bike gained 9.6bhp.
Personally speaking, I felt no power gain and wished I hadn't wasted money.
@Justin Voluck There is no issue. my point is, 9bhp is not noticeable or worth the hassle.
I also had a BMC race air filter fitter for the ECU flash.
That’s the problem for me, you got a bike that puts out ~130hp and at best might get 5-10hp gain, in reality you’re never going to notice the difference. For most people it’s in their head, they want to justify the money spent lol. Honestly just gearing the bike -1/+2 you’ll notice more of a difference that anything else, just my .02 😄👍🏻
@@SALTxTHExWOUND you'd notice the difference if you raced same bikes one flashed other stock both same gearing
@@exothermal.sprocket we are talking about the L1-L7 GSX-R750.
But that's a personal idea
this is old post but when you delete a cat the bike gets even leaner because you do not have backpressure
A cat delete or any other exhaust/intake mod doesn't make your bike run lean. NOT GETTING A PROPER TUNE to go along with your mods does.
Agreed, when a bike runs perfect and has all the power you need why mess with it.
Because the louder noise makes ya nuts tingle
@@stickvortex fuck yes lmao
Deleted my cat on my 2010 gsxr 750 with a yoshi slip on...man it sounds sooo good an loves popping the od flame out
You're wearing the same helmet and leathers I want to get when I start riding again...someday...
Listen to this guy, this is exactly how I think. I had the L8 Gixxer 750 left it alone and was all good. Now I have a L0 Gixxer 750 and will leave it alone too!
Good work mate 👍
Right on! thanks for watching!
You big brains have fun going slow.
So if want it to last a long time get it Dyno-tuned even with the cat still on your bike you won't regret it 🏍️
Go fast be safe 😜
I clicked on the wrong video, I thought it was all about cats 😹😺 just kidding! Great videos as usual 👍🏼
😂 maybe it needs more kittens in the upcoming videos? 🤔 😂
My 2003 750 came without a cat but i still had it tuned and it’s great wouldn’t want a cat on there at all
if you are not gonna tune it dont bother, but if you do its a whole new bike 100x better after the full exhaust high flow air filter and tune.
I believe it! I just don't want to risk the reliability, I've known so many people have issues after tunes and such
Obviously you have not had experience on a properly dyno tuned catless GSXR. Buying a pre loaded generic PC5 is not ideal by any means as many different variables such as full exhaust, slip on, any combo with a baffle versus without. You are better off buying a Dobeck fueler which is easily adjustable.
thank you for this video
My pleasure
A wise man! ✊✊✊
Appreciate it!
Nice video.
Great point and thanks for watching! I've got over 33k on this bike and it still runs flawlessly
Thanks man I like the way your thinking
i can confirm the lag at low rpm, i got a 22 gsxr 600 with a voodoo 3/4 exhaust with the power commander 6 and its kinda shitty that is does that, but the trade off for the sound makes it worth it for me!
Finally someone reasonable to speak about exhaust modifications!
Man, I totally agree with you! I subscribe your words. And I got the same bike with a R11 slip on exhaust. I like it this way.
Agree on all points.
Totally true. A lot of people mod their bikes to go fast in a straight line. Nothing wrong with it though haha. Yeah man I want to take my bike to Chris Moore in SC to get tuned. I have a slip on and flash but I think it was better when it was stock. I think the flash sucks.
@Thgt Ggyh I don't have it. I bought it used and the guy didn't have the stock muffler when I got it.
@Thgt Ggyh Yeah that is why I will probably just stay with a slip on. haha
If the flash tune sucks, let Chris know..........
I have an 08 gsxr 750 with tuner and full race exhaust and changed the gear ratio with zero issues...screaming loud
@@gsxraiders No they both sounded good, but the M4 was crap on power, the Yoshi was better but with the flash it's improved immeasurably.
Great cam view! Chin camera views cause dizziness 👍
When your talking about health of the bike I feel like redlining your bike is way way way worse than getting a cat delete
Not at all, the bike has a rev limiter for a reason, just like every vehicle on the road, they’re designed to be revved high
07 gxr 1k. Still got cat on, and the bike is still 🔥. However, i wanna hear the popcorn; meaning i want to tune, cat delete, dyno-if possible. Btw, great video
Sounds great! Thanks for watching!
ah.. you got me thinking!..... definitely for 2 strokes running lean is a big issue. but 4 strokes in 3000-4000 rpm?! mmmm..
O2 can only make so much of a change
ive NOT rode in 30 years and got a new Z900, i LOVE it but your not joking 70 mph and NO windshields horrifying! lol Torque feels like its gonna shoot out from under me. lol i got almost full gear, need boots and air vest. lol its almost broke in!!!!
I have a 2018 z900 and it’s a super well built fun bike to drive. Just got a 06 gsxr 750 today too, best of both worlds
Great video. Wanted to ask bout your lid. I've got exact same one and wanted to ask if you've found the visor opening and closing loose?
If you do anything more than just a slip on exhaust and don't get it tuned to match it's just plain neglect at that point.
I have a question. Your bike only has one O2 sensor, which is before the cat. If the sensor is before the cat, deleting the cat will not affect the sensor's readings. Right?
yep, it shouldn't affect it whatsoever.
I love my Daytona 675, you like corners then you are on the wrong motorcycle SALT!
Well put great video
Much appreciated
Firstly, I hope y'all forgive my english.
There is no point to delete cat or change exhaust systems or install PowerCommander. Except for sound. Couple of hp's don't do a shhht. Yeah, they all adds probably about 5hp (same as in moped)? Big deal?
Diet and buying tight leathersuit will help You more than anything. (turbokit excluded)
And if loud sound is Your thing, remove whole exhaust system!
It would be nice if bikes came with ECUs that control air/fuel on the fly so the bike runs optimally no matter what exhaust mods were done.

It sounds to me, after all that said, you're just a mature young man who, first of all, doesn't do things because EVERYONE ELSE thinks it should be done, and second, you actually THINK about the future and life of your things. If that's fair to say??? And IMO, there is ZERO things wrong with that. Yea if you don’t want to invest in even tuning the bike there’s no point in a cat delete
Your exshaust is built for epa not sure I’ve heard a full system an tune ruining a engine

Flash the ecu to get rid of the lag
I've ridden one with a flashed ECU and honestly felt no difference. Plus I want my engine to last as long as possible. I've seen too many people blow theirs up not long after a flash

As for the hesitation, I will have to check that out when the bike gets delivered, 15 to 16 lean is what the manufacturers do for emissions normally, and probably in this case to keep the front tire down easier.
That lag is indicative of a lean condition

Just bought a full M4 system for my GSXR-750, planning on keeping the cat. Is this a good option? Should I be worried about potential engine issues ?
If you bought a full exhaust system then the cat will be deleted. There will be no engine issues as long as you get the bike properly tuned for the new exhaust system.
Have a k7 750.. all I did was open the exhaust valve all the way and unplug it because it broke. No need for extra power or noise. All that does is alert local law enforcement 🤣

And borla get expensive for cars/trucks
or gut the catalyst, throw on a slip-on, & get a dyno tune.
For $600 you can have your 750 wipe the floor with stock 750s, AND it will last just as long as the choked stockers.
I have same helmet. How you mount?
Think exhausts are biggest waste of money.....for one on streetbikes they are crazy fukin expensive and 2 they don't do whole lot anyway.....like you said you don't need the power or can you Even use what you have........some tail cans are ridiculously huge I get that but really......nobody cares if you have a pipe, lol.......they really don't
As long as bike runs clean....I would be more apt to get a tune to richen it up a lil bit as most bikes are lean
But 3k exhaust, especially on 130-180 hp bike....thats insane imo
