Fun fact (from a previous GS Employee): The POS system allows you to specify what games you want, and they allow search results for consoles as old as the NES. If you take the time, you can find stores that have copies of older games you're looking for and have them sent to your store. I got a complete copy of Silent Hill 2 for I think $60-70, on top of a bunch of rare PS1 games that were super cheap and in great condition.
They never send to other stores...
Explain how to do this please, I can’t find an option for this online

The should unless they are lazy. It's literally their job to AND it's "free" for them to do (with the UPS account they have). All they need to do is get the game, package it, and wait for the driver to show for daily deliveries/pickups. And I know this as a former GS manager.

I assumed you had the request come from a store itself. I can understand not doing it for a random caller. If you go to the store close to you and have them call in the request I can't imagine they'd make an excuse not to send it. Having a random game show up from a store isn't ideal for anyone.
You need to take the cover art out before you wet it. This way you don't damage the cover art. Also an antibacterial wipe works better for cleaning. Less wet and really gets the grime off.
I take the cover art out and use Goo Gone on stickers. Then wipe with a paper towel with some rubbing alcohol on it (his paper towel is FAR too wet) to get rid of any grime, and the Goo Gone smell. Goo Gone works wonders on pesky stickers, but the citrus scent is awful.
I think he missed the point that they're shitty fucking old games dude no one gives a fuck about the resident evil 6 cover art like it's a great game don't get me wrong it's not a collector's item

I was so tempted to order like 4 games from them a few months ago but the fear of getting a busted ass nasty case was too much for me. Even though the cost was not much, i didnt wanna risk it

In my country, there are stores that sell new games which are not sealed. Mostly because they don't have fake display cases so they unpack the real ones. If they have multiple copies you will get a sealed one but if you pick up the last copy, too bad. I don't really mind, honestly. I will open them anyway. And I always inspect the disc before purchase.
Also, not all stores work this way, luckily. 😀

I went to the midnight release for Dragon Ball FighterZ and the copy they gave me wasn't even sealed lmaoo. It was an open copy that I assume they had out to put on shelves? It was in a protective plastic bag. By the time I realized, it was too late to go back for an actual sealed copy 💀💀
Yeah I've seen a few video of people saying that managers would take stuff home bring it back and make employees put it back on the shelf as new lol. It's believable tbh considering the way they do things.
I can't believe you received a game that was cracked for $15 usd? Crazy. That service needs a major quality control check! I would send that back. Great video to show the current state of buying retro games.
As someone that works at GameStop, most DS/3DS games people bring in for trade don't have cases, and when they do, my boss doesn't want to keep them anymore so he throws them out (but I take them when I can to save them from impending doom)
So that's probably why the majority of the 3DS games you bought were just in those plastic holders, I'm sure my boss isn't the only one that gets rid of the cases

At least with getting the handful of cases from work, I've been using it as an excuse to grow my DS/3DS collections. Though it has made me realize for a good chunk of them, cart only isn't really cheaper than CIB lmao

You’ve got me deep diving into collecting as well! I’ve been hunting eBay, facebook and Mercari. Always on the hunt for CIB! What do you do with all your games without cases? Would like to see a video of your full collection!
Pro tip: to get marker off most surfaces, draw on it with an erasable marker to get it wet and wipe it off. Also, rubbing alcohol will work on some marker as well.

When I went to gamestop, they didn't have much. They stopped selling old stuff and only had stuff for current gen.
Love this series. My last Gamestop haul was back in january when I ordered around 10-12 PS4/PS5 games, they had this deal of ¨buy 4 games of $20 or less¨ and get 50% off which seemed too good to be true. I think it was kind of a win, as only 2 games did not come with the original artwork. But Matty here really likes to gamble lol. No way in hell I would order anything from them from before the PS4/XBX1 era, too risky.

Bro i know how much you love manuals and recently i got a good deal on ultra street fighter iv and super street fighter iv and ultra didn’t have a manual but super had this nice thicc boi with color and everything. You popped up in my head when i saw it. I knew you’d appreciate it. One of best manuals I’ve seen in awhile and surprisingly was a ps3 era game

i am sorry for maybe stupid question - but as i understand you order a particular game in GS but the condition of the game is random? i dont get that. or is it like a cheaper option - where you pay a little bit less but risk the chance of getting a game without a case?
is there an option to just buy a normal copy or do they cost more for a guarantee of good condition?

How do you do this? Whenever i check the app they only list current gen games.
I don't know if this was the same for other GameStop's, but when we threw away our game cases to save up space, we had to cut up each case to prevent re-sell from dumpster divers. When we also got an insane number of copies of a specific game (Desitny 1 at the time) we threw extra copies away and added huge cuts into the disc so they couldn't be read on consoles.
This remains the Goated UA-cam series 🙌

Unfortunate that SFIV didn't come with the box. I think that was the first 3ds game I got (the 3ds had a pretty infamously terrible launch lineup), and the original run at least came with a cardboard sleeve with a lenticular "3D" cover art. Pretty neat, if a little cliche.
With the rise of social media and UA-cam and everything else Gamestop had YEARS to rectify everything that people had issues with. They did nothing to change and have only become a relic of the old days. The same that can be said of Blockbuster.
It’s always so interesting watching this series because anytime I order from Gamestop (and I’ve gotten some ps3 games, wii games, etc) I’ve never really had any of these issues other then them not coming in original package isn’t or having a few scratches (never bad enough to not be useable) guess I’m lucky

My favorite Wii games are MarioKart Wii, Wii Sports, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. Seeing Smash Bros and Twilight Princess with no official case, all scratched up, and with man juice on it hurts my soul

I've been recently buying Resident Evil games for the PS4 and X1. And luckily here in Europe, all games are still cheap and brand new.
I hate buying used games from a store, because you never know what you get. Either its in good condition or the disc is so scratched up that the game doesn't even work, and have to send it back. That's why i aim for brand new games.
Gamestop has been throwing out cases for years even back then during the ps2 Era
Luckily the advantage of places Game Exchange and Vintage Stock you can see what you are buying and its usually decent selection. But my god, I've seen some of the NASTIEST game cases and its unbelievable how they accepted it at that state and put it on shelves. I legitimately bring wipes to my game hunts now. Independent game stores for the win!

When cleaning residue and adhesive/stickers, take the artwork out, then use acetone and a paper towel. Works very well.
The decal is what holds the data: that's why the bottom of the disc can be scratched and still sometimes be used. Once the label is scratched, the data is lost. You can think of the plastic part of the disc as just a protective delivery mechanism for the printed metal shelf.

We don't have gamestop here in the UK but we have cex, where they sell games for old consoles that they said they tested but doesn't work when you take it home and to add insult to injury they up sell you on preeowned electronics sometimes you'll buy a graphics card from there for like 300 to 400 and yet you can buy a brand new one at that price
One thing I always check for are hairline cracks on 360 discs. I've found them to be extremely common around the center. Not immediately noticable
The Street Fighter IV case slip cover for the 3DS case is a lenticular picture. Its the coolest 3DS covers in my collection.

I’ve replaced a large amount of games that got damaged from a flood now I have a stack of loose games. I’d be embarrassed trying to sell them at GameStop. So I haven’t a clue why people trade disc only games in. Should be a crime

This is why I keep my all my game cases and manuals (if it has a manual) because I collect games but if I ever sell them so this sh*t doesn’t happen
For permanent marker on disks, write over it with dry erase marker and then wipe it off after. The chemicals in the dry erase will debond the ink and should allow you to wipe it clean.
The Resident Evil Origins disc could be a rental. It's common to mark them like that to find the disc in the rental drawer.
You gotta be crazy to expect a mint condition box or cases for prewoned games that are 10+ years old but hey at this point your making more money off gamestop then they are on these purchases so keep em coming their fun to watch either way!

Bout 5 years ago ish when GameStop had the 20% elite pro discount, they blew out their retro games at buy 2 get 1 sales. That was time to buy imo. I bought hundreds of dollars of their more expensive stuffs. It was worth it every time.
I go to my local Half Price Books Outlet. They sell stuff the normal stores couldn’t. I find Xbox games with the case, manual, and disc for $1. Same thing for Wii. Check out these stores if you can.
I've bought two Nintendo 2DS in the last 6 months from GameStop and BOTH times they delivered a different model than advertised. Luckily for me it was a different color that I was okay with the first time. The second time I was beyond disappointed. My girl was a little sad because hers was supposed to be wite with teal buttons and they delivered a black system with dark blue buttons.

Thanks to this channel I've started in October buying CIB games on eBay. In October got a CIB Condemned 2, then in January I picked it up again with Eternal darkness sanity's requiem CIB, then I found at a retro store CIB copies of Simpsons Hit and run, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 and 4, and I'm still searching for the fatal frame trilogy CIB on ps2 (the retro store I go to said they didn't have Fatal frame 3 but fatal frame 1 cib is $80, and fatal frame 2 cib was over $100. Waiting and thinking that purchase over considering I've never played fatal frame.) Along with a childhood game of mine, custom robo CIB. If a game isn't CIB I don't bother. Because of this want for physical retro games my need for physical copies of games has expanded into modern games with me picking up a new copy of the last of us remake for ps5. Got a ps5 3 weeks ago so I'm thinking ps5 will be my physical disc next gen console while my xbox series x is my physical or digital console. Mainly because I've had it for longer and I already have a lot of digital games. So I'm marking it as a lost cause. But PS5 is still very much gonna be physical.

I remove all cover art etc. From game cases fill up my sink with water Dawn and bleach and soak them and wash them with wash cloth inside and outh rinse them and put them in a dish rack and let them air dry or paper towel them

I never keep the incompletes. I'll sometimes buy 3 copies of the same game. Most of the time at least 1is CiB. The other 2 I just return to my closest GameStop and get my money back. I'm hoping you know you can do this cause you get a lot of stuff in garbage condition. 😭

I will pay significantly more anywhere besides gamestop because even the average ebay order comes in better shape. I remember buying 2 new ps5 games in separate packaging. One had a slash through the front and the others case was disintegrated. The case literally had a clean break at the spine in "new" condition
I worked at GameStop awhile back and we were never asked to throw out cases. People just come in and sell caseless games

I've been searching for Bully like a madman these days. Like I've tried over Amazon and eBay to find a good condition complete copy of Bully, but either they're unavailable or they're just too expensive. Gosh i love the game but am just unable to find a decent copy.
The Yo Kai Watch might have been a doordash delivery tbh. I've delivered from GameStop in the past and had to ask for a bag (because common sense is rare apparently).
