Maybe this statue was erected way back when to glorify racism but nowadays it could warn against it like "don't repeat what this guy did." Like a statue can be erected tomorrow and in 50 years it could mean something else. I don't think these statues should be taken down. Those who don't learn from history will just end up repeating it. If they are taken down at least put them in a museum. This stuff can't be forgotten just because people don't like it. Well they're how we got here so I for one am damn proud. Not only did we actively use slaves, we profited from them. Then when we were done we went on a series of wars to prevent other people from having slaves. What an asshat of a country. Talk about pulling the ladder up. I can't believe we have the audacity to get involved in other countries to stop human rights abuses.

@@alansbinnie1446 They never claimed not to have done damage, but they did argue that it wasn’t criminal, an argument that won them their case. So I’m guessing *criminal* damage WASN’T ‘clearly done’ - not enough to convince the judge and jury at least!
