Another great year, for me: 1972! Bunch of these tunes picked in this episode, I have in classic forms of 45s, LPs, and, cassettes. Almost all of these tunes bring to me constant memories of the gal I dated in '72 - J.E.L. She was fabulous! Some of these "selected choices" from our narrator were, to me, on my large list of my 1973 favorites. My "All-time Favorite" of 1972: "Rocket Man" by Elton John (MCA Records) though there are a few other not mentioned hit tunes that are among my favorites of that year due to that "gal I left behind"... (actually, she left me, behind) - J.E.L.
Thank you for your service. I am also a Vietnam Veteran, U.S. Navy aboard USS Joseph Strauss DDG-16 during deployments in 1970 and 1972. Transferred to USS John S. McCain DDG-36 for the last 3 months of McCain's 1972 deployment. To you and I and a million other Vietnam Veterans, these are some of the songs we listened to in Vietnam.
You forgot about " Me, You, And A Dog Named Boo" by Lobo. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I was 10 years old when these songs were released. Good times and good music without a doubt.
You missed a few really good ones, including "Alone Again (Naturally)" by Gilbert O'Sullivan, "American Pie" by Don McLean and "Without You" by Harry Nilsson.
I would include American PIe, Nights in white saten, Silvia's mother, Brand new key, Alone again, Lean on me, Let's stay together, City of New Orleans, Roundabout, Layla, there are many , maybe for a second part. Thanks
Superstition - Rocket Man - Heart of Gold - The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face - School's Out - You're So Vane + (Warren Beatty?) Me & Mrs. Jones - Take It Easy - Been Through the Desert With a Horse of No Name - Burning Love -
Emerson, Lake & Palmer were a progressive band not known for his. In fact, they were a one hit wonder. The song From The Beginning from the Trilogy album which was released in ... 1972!!!
I remember watching some movies. I think it was Beach blanket Bingo. And the Rat pack. He was super young and playing the piano and everybody called him little Stevie. And that's what I was used to little stevie wonder
Makes me wonder if an AI robot is narrating this: Get it right-- "The First Time EVER I Saw Your Face", not the other way around !! You should know your material inside out and back to front 😳
So disappointing that whoever makes these videos for entertainment doesn't believe in the art of humanity 😔 AI is not mandatory -- we should desert these platforms and look for real people with credible information, not rambling twaddle
I don’t know if it’s AI. I would think that AI would have read the script literally and not transposed the words, ever I, and I ever. But I agree with real human voice instead of computer generated “intelligence”. Reject the artificial!
I didn't notice any resemblance, at the time, of Horse With no Name to Heart of Gold. Listening to them close together, there are a couple of vocal and instrumental similarities, but I think the vocal part is coincidental, similar voices, and there are always some instrumental similarities. Besides, America had many hits that sounded nothing like Neal Young's or anybody else's music.
"The first time" written by Ewan McColl (stage name) and father of Kirsty McColl singer and member of The Pogues. Apparently Ewan wasn't a fan of Roberta's version.
I recall fondly 1972's music. And this review too often lands as inauthentic-because the narration does not know or pronounce correctly at least one song lyric, one song title, and one artist's name each. Tough to follow with such foundational errors.
“Popular” music was amazing back then. So glad I grew up with this wonderful music!!!! Music of today is not thid good.

I haven,t forgotten any of these songs!!
It's "The First Time EVER I Saw Your Face" not "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face". Just saying 😊
Thank you!
I know right? That bugged me too!😮
I think Jigsaw wrote the lyrics ???

1972 is a special year for me, being my high school graduation year, and I do remember these hits well.
1972. And there I was… in VietNam. I grew up then. That’s where I became a man. I’ll remember that year forever.

To misquote Paul Revere And The Raiders, “Too much talk and not enough music…”

Oh yeah, I did love that song.
That was in 1971

BrandNewKey was 1971. CB
Run To Me. BeeGees.
I'll agree with you on Roundabout and American Pie - two of my favorites!
Long Long time ago I remember how the music used to make me smile....
Neil Diamond's song Song Sung Blue is a take on Mozart's Concerto 21
What about Looking Glass "Brandy"?
Smoke on the water didn't make it? One of the most identifiable heavy metal songs of all time? Did I miss it?
I remember this song from 1973
YES!!!!
Superstition -
Rocket Man -
Heart of Gold -
The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face -
School's Out -
You're So Vane +
(Warren Beatty?)
Me & Mrs. Jones -

Been Through the Desert With a Horse of No Name -
Burning Love -
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
You're So Vain
A Horse With No Name
Thin Lizzy's "Whiskey in the Jar" with fabulous solo guitar 🎸
"Burning Love" required a Doctor's attention back in the day 😅
My favs from '72 are Walk on the Wild Side and The City of New Orleans which are number one in my heart but maybe not billboard toppers.
I was showing WarrenBeatty's FIL where an item was, and "You're So Vain" came on. He didn't even aknowledge it.
Thank God Stevie recorded Superstition! That is probably my favorite song of all time.
My cherie amour is his best IMO.
@@rogerdonoho4924 My Cherie Amour is definitely a great song, but Superstition brings the funk!
Frowned on in this country but i still like Rock & Roll parts one & two Garry Glitter !
Great comments, thanks.
Alone Again Naturally/Gilbert O'Sullivan.
Absolutely!
Nah, I hated that song. It's simply too sad.
My number #1 for me in my life was: Forever was made for us but for us it went by to fast - Beverly Bremers! about my high school sweetheart!
Emerson, Lake & Palmer were a progressive band not known for his. In fact, they were a one hit wonder. The song From The Beginning from the Trilogy album which was released in ... 1972!!!

Eric Von Zipper
Harvey Lembeck(?)
I was looking forward to listening to the music, ..... not some guy babel on for 10 minutes
And there was also Harry Nilsson's Spaceman!
Makes me wonder if an AI robot is narrating this:
Get it right-- "The First Time EVER I Saw Your Face", not the other way around !! You should know your material inside out and back to front 😳
And he said Glen Fray instead of Frey.
I think it was a ROBOT/Chat_Bot.
I still prefer a human voice, with real human pauses and inflections.
So disappointing that whoever makes these videos for entertainment doesn't believe in the art of humanity 😔

no Carpenters???? Really???

At least the 70’s weren’t subjected to click-like-button-begging.

Sing it Steveland.😅😅😅❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Bye bye American pie
You 're So Vain is about a guy who thinks a song is about him when it's not.
Soing it Stevie.
Linda Ronstandt and Olivia Newton-John are missing.
too early - Olivia didn't break the top 20 until 1973, Linda until 1974. I love them both, but this is 1972
Rocket Man was a hit in the United States a year before Space Oddity.
Yeah but bowie had it out in 1969, long before elton.
@@gessimpson3328 Space Oddity was a hit in the US in 1973.Rocket Man was a hit on US charts in 1972.Things like that happened frequently.

Peter Schilling also recorded an outer 🌌 space themed song titled Major Tom that came out in the early 80's I believe! Have a good one!

Clint Eastwood pushed this song as well.
His name is pronounced “fry”, not “fray”. Lose the AI.

Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress......

I was gonna say, “That’s BS! It was 1975,” but you’re right! Did not know that!
The song is The first Time EVER I saw your face, NOT The first time I EVER saw your face...get it right, details matter.
