Both sounded impressive, but I would have to feel the playing and hear the sounds in real time before making a decision. I would settle for either one, after all they're both well crafted Martin's, however, for affordability I would buy the $ 5,000.00 D-CFM IV 50th Anniversary model.
the 50K one has an edge over the other one in the mic setup here, but it is not 45k better, and it also has too much bling for my taste. I prefer the Mexican one for looks.
The fancy one sounds better but not like a $50k instrument. The other one sounds just as boxy as any Ovation. Either way, big whoop. If you want the real Martin sound, get one that's about 12 years old; it'll be new enough to have a truss rod but old enough to have forgetten that it was once a tree.
The more expensive one sounded better but I could live with the cheaper one.

Is it a" Mar an", or a Martin?
I can't stand when people talk with glottal stops.
Nice comparison, what's the back and sides made of from the U.S. model?

So is it really $40,000 worth of abalone?
Not even close. But some boomer collector in cargo shorts, sporting a stark white but neatly trimmed goatee will buy one.
