I have a 1976 Cutlass in my garage that would have no shame being park next to this 1977. It has 67,000 miles and a factory 5 speed on the floor. All original.
I owned a '76. 350, 4 barrel, power windows, locks, seat, shifter on floor, t-tops, air, working clock, power trunk release in glove box. Smoothest riding car I've ever owned.
I had a 77 Salon also. Blue with the white landau top, had T-tops put on it and it had the two-tone blue cloth interior. Damn I loved that car. would love to find one now. Ordered it special from a friend of my Uncle, Cruise, electric everything. My cousin ordered hers on the same day, she had the brown.
I had a ‘77 CS Brougham in Arctic White with a white Landau top! It also had the full-on Brougham, pillow-top red “San Francisco Bordello” interior. The GM 350 with powerglide trans was the ULTIMATE ‘80s cruiser…..would’ve been nice to have had the buckets & floor shifter but LOVED that car!!! A MONUMENTAL gas guzzler, but I still miss it!!!!
Very sweet. I'm a lifer Mopar guy, but I had a few Cutlasses back in my youth and loved them. The "R" in the 5th digit of the VIN indicates this had an actual Olds-built 350; in those days, GM was throwing "corporate" (read: Chevy) engines in a lot of their mid-sizes, so this is an important detail to note. Suggestion to the videographer/host: Less Zep, more (any?) of the actual sounds of the car, please! -Ed on the Ridge
puting one together now i picked up in feb. going to be a cruiser, took bubble valor seats from an eighty eight , made them fit. burgundy interior. cant decide between black or white ext , just finishing body work. in long run these cars are not worth what you have to put into them. you have to be a sick person and just luv um. suspension / brakes / fuel tank and lines = 2 dimes eng, trans/ rear end/ exhaust = 2 dimes. interior/dash/headliner/ panels/ rug/window seals= 2 more . bodywork sofar lite rust no damage. after paint at least 3k more. tires and rims dime &1/2 . plus the $3500 for car that was in great shape but , interior was roasted. sat for 20 yrs w/53k as usual you should just find one already done..😑
The 5 speed cutlasses that year had a 231 v6 . No V8 unless you got a automatic. I don't know how that could pull a car that size with a weight of 5 k lbs ?
"Never seen another one like it", I would say the buick regal 1977 is the most similar, with the only differences the Grill and interior. Personally I prefer the '77 regal SR.
Gorgeous! But three spoke steering wheel? I’ve only seen the four spoke sport and two spoke banana on these? I love it! Aftermarket or special order OEM?
I have a very similar 1976 Ebony Black with Mahogany Red interior 455 Salon. My car had just over 62,000 original mile and still has its original paint. You forgot to mention the 4-4-2 suspension of the Salon's.

I had one t-top 77 cutlass !!!?? Show car
The "Rocket 350" WAS THE ONLY CLASS G.M. motor!
The R means it's a Rocket a olds trademark
@@johnmaki3046 By 1977, I agree. Wouldn't have any of the other ones.
I think the R in the VIN is the factory ID - Arlington Texas
Very nice car! Super clean and all.... need to replace the aftermarket steering wheel with the right one.... aside from that the car is perfect!
🙋👍👍
I loved these. I had one in the 80s, but mine was a bomb..lol
