Hi Peter, Thank you for sharing your UA-cam journey, and doing such a wonderful job of creating this video. As someone who does something similar, it was refreshing hearing you document all of your trials and tribulations, and seeing how your journey was so similar to my own……Your first 100 subscribers, and then the 1000 milestone….. I celebrated on that day!!!! Oh, and the frustrations of things like the failed video that you thought was great, or questioning yourself, and what makes you the expert. I remember standing in my workshop once, talking to the camera, and thinking that nobody would actually care about what I was talking about, and that this particular video idea was a bad idea. But I uploaded it anyway. I was on holiday when it exploded, and it’s the most successful video I’ve even done. So, as you say, just go for it. Once again Peter, thank you for sharing your journey, you’ve inspired me! All the best, Jon
Wow, thanks so much Jon. I love your channel, and have equally taken huge inspiration from you over the last couple of years, so to see such a generous and comprehensive message from you is really an honour. UA-cam really is a funny old beast though, isn't it? Who can really tell what's going to explode and what isn't! We just have to keep trying to make informative and relatable content and hope people find it as such. We also start out as cyclists and end up becoming more of a solo film crew with video editing expertise... I never saw that one coming! So glad I took the plunge though. Thanks so much again for taking the time to watch and comment. Very much appreciated.
@@petertreadway Hi Peter, Yeah, I didn’t see most of this stuff coming!!: Who would’ve thought the most important part of a video would be the audio? Why are 114 lights, producing 27 gigawatts, still not bright enough? When I make a video, 90% of my time is spent not making a video. Why do people think I earn a fortune from doing this? Transitions, timelines, & frame rate ….. Does Park Tool make a spanner for that? So, let me get this right, that £800 vlogging camera doesn’t have the right lens???? Why do I wave my arms around when I talk? Cheap microphones are cheap for a reason…… Stop buying them Jon!! I don’t cycle much any more, because I have a cycling channel I could go on all day with this list 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh man, the lighting is my biggest pet peeve! Not only is it never enough, but as my ‘studio’ space is so small, it feels like I’m having to run the Krypton Factor around, over and under all of the light modifiers to get to my desk after hitting record on the camera! 🤦🏻♂️ Adding to your ‘90% of making a video is not making a video’, my biggest frustration with bike builds is that I can probably competently put a bike together from scratch in a couple of hours… why then does it take me 4 days when I’m recording it! The angles, the close ups, moving the lights for the close ups, moving the lights back after the close ups, undoing and redoing parts because I hit the 30 minute recording buffer on my camera and the last 5 minutes of work and talking weren’t captured ! We should start a club for cycling content creators to moan about creating cycling content! 😂 As frustrating as it can be sometimes though, I love the moment you hit that ‘create’ button in YT Studio and start to upload…. Until I remember I still have to craft a keyword heavy title, description and tags… and how have I forgotten to make a thumbnail again! It’s never ending. 😂
That’s a loud and clear win-win for us all then Peter! Great to be along for the ride (haha) and thanks for sticking with it, it’s really paid off. Here’s to the next 900 videos of entertainment and enjoyment.
Lincoln, thank you so much for that. It’s great to have you along for the ride too and really appreciate all your support over the last year. 900 videos though…. Oof, that seems a long way off! 😂
Brilliant achievement Peter, love your enthusiasm and sense of fun. Cycling has given me so much since my cancer treatment and recovery and the camaraderie and support from my clubmates has been so wonderful. So love your son's enthusiasm too, what a little star he is. Fair play to you and look forward to continuing to be entertained and informed by your videos in 2025. Congratulations 🎊
Thanks so much, Stuart. Cycling has got such an incredible way of bringing people together and getting you over even the worst of situations, hasn't it, so I'm so glad it's brought you such joy and recovery. And yes, hopefully there'll be many more rides with my son to come in 2025! 💪 Thanks for all your support.
Peter, this video was incredibly heartwarming! Hearing you reflect on your UA-cam journey with such sincerity and gratitude was truly inspiring. Watching you grow and stay so grounded is a testament to your amazing character. Thank you for sharing this honest glimpse into your journey-it’s not just a story of success, but one of resilience, creativity, and genuine connection. We’re all lucky to be part of this ride with you!
Thanks so much for this, Buddy. I really appreciate your kind words. Likewise for your channel, it's been great to see it growing steadily and you're not far off hitting that magic 1000 yourself now. Getting to where you have with just 5 videos is an incredible achievement. Looking forward to seeing more of your journey too. 💪
Loved watching this video Peter, not only hear how well your channel is growing and how it’s helped you as a person but I also found it very inspiring. Chapeau to you!!
There're a cupla things i like about a 'Peter Treadway video', he's super happy and optimistic, the Jimmy factor! the club guys who're soo similar to guys/riders who've I've rode with in my other life lol (i used to live @ 50ft & now 350ft + in a super hilly area) and the adventures that's it for me Peter 👍 - will you remember us when you're famous Peter? 😁
Lee, that’s all so very kind of you to say! Thank you! The Jimmy factor along with all the other guys I ride with are definitely my biggest help. And if I ever do get ‘famous’ (whatever that means these days 😂) I’ll remember each and every one of the people that supported me so much in these early days. Thank you again. 🌟
Ironically, the road bike video is the one that led me to your channel. Not sure why it was recommended, or what I was even searching when it did, but I'm grateful for it, because I appreciate your videos. Thanks, Peter. Have a blessed 2025, my friend!
Thanks so much, John and am so glad it was my 'experiment' that led you to finding the channel. Really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment and I wash you a wonderful 2025 too.
Congratulations on this milestone Peter, and here's to the next one 😁 I'm sure others will agree with me in saying that your videos are a good mix of entertainment, education and inspiration, that's certainly why I subscribed and watch every week. You're relatable, and that's something I like, I could see myself enjoying a few non alcoholic drinks with you any time (and Jimmy of course).
Alex, thank you so much for that. It’s incredible to see comments like this and I will absolutely have a few drinks with you if we ever get up your way. Thanks so much for all the support over the last year. 💪🏻🌟
Nice video Peter, been a pleasure watching you grow as both a You Tuber, and a cyclist. Wishing you the best for 2025 and seeing what you have in store. Thanks for the content
Lewis, thanks so much, mate. I really appreciate all the support you’ve given this last year. It really is so incredibly appreciated. Hopefully I can keep you just as entertained this year too. All the best to you and yours for 2025 too. 👌🏻
Congratulations Peter it has been a great pleasure watching you and your guys enjoy a simple bike ride . It is strange how things work out for the best keep going.
Thanks so much, Ian. Yep, in the nicest possible sense, I do sometimes find myself asking 'why is anyone watching ME?' but it's so lovely to see the views and kind comments after I upload. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave such a lovely message.
Good video mate. And really good advice in this. You always come across well on camera and that's probably part of your success - of course, combined with good content. I think your content is very relatable too. Keep up the good work fella.
Thanks so much, really glad you enjoyed it and found it useful. Really appreciate your kind comments as well. I'll definitely be keeping the fun and informative content coming in 2025! 💪
I have to say, Andrew, I would have found it awesome to see myself in the background of a UA-cam video, so I can understand your excitement with it. So glad you've enjoyed all the videos though and I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.
fantastic peter,i look foward to seeing you pop up on my feed each week, theres something real about your videos that others don't have, so thanks for the great entertainment each week, only a bit disappointed you have removed your chairs headrest lol 👍
Hi again Peter, Thanks very much for the push that I so desperately need, and for the tips regarding the camera/phone, and the editing website. Maybe you should throw a litte cockney rhyming slang into your video's, and watch your subscribers disappear 😂. Take care, Neil.
Thank you for the videos, I discovered you after my friend introduced me to your videos and you during the New Forest Garmin ride out in 2024. You were so approachable and friend on the ride. Our paths may not cross again but if they do, I know I will be able to say hello. Keep making the films and keeping it real.
Thanks so much, Karen. It was lovely meeting you and Linda on the Ride Out and getting to chat to you for a bit. I'm gutted that I'm out of the country for the ride this year though, but I'll definitely be back for it in 2026. Hopefully our paths will cross again long before that though and yes, absolutely come and say hello if/when they do. Send my regards to Linda.
Sticking with anything is difficult, as life always seems to throw you curveball to eat up your time! Good to get out on two wheels whenever you can though. Thanks so much for watching and commenting though and for the support.
Congrats on the milestone Peter! I'm in the midst of trying to find myself on UA-cam, and you and now this video have been very inspiring! Congrats again and look forward whats in store for you this year, I'm sure it will be a belter!!
Thanks so much, Leon. The best piece of advice I could give anyone is to lean in to what you can see has worked on your channel previously and keep pressing it until it squeals! 😂 For my channel, people seem to enjoy bike builds, so I’ve made sure to do a good few of those with a bit of variety between them to keep it interesting. I’d look back at which of your old videos has done well and try to emulate that again, but otherwise, just keep plugging away and you’ll get there. Best of luck, mate. 💪🏻
Thanks so much, Terry. So great to have you aboard and really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. 💪🏻🌟 Happy new year to you and yours too.
That's a very kind thing of you to say, Terry, thanks so much. I really appreciate all of your support and have no fear, I have no intention of giving up and resting on my laurels just yet! 💪
Well done. It's great to follow you and your riding buddies. I'm planning some rides into Essex from my home in Surrey this year. Not explored the area much.
Thanks so much, Andy, I'm so glad you enjoy the videos. Also, Surrey to Essex will be a great ride. Having done Essex to Richmond Park and back late 2023, I had an absolute blast. You'll find the terrain much less 'lumpy' up this way, but there are some stunning routes and vistas to take in. 💪
Cheers mate. Good to hear I can make you all misty eyed! 😂 Really appreciate the support though buddy. I’ll have to get down to see you for a ride at some point…. I’ll need some thicker tyres first though. 😉
Peter, find the videos, fun, entertaining and interesting. I don’t get back to the UK, very often, as I live in Spain so if you’re ever in the Denia area give me a shout and maybe we can go for ride.
Just watched your 100th Congratulations, Pete. How will you celebrate it? Subscriber group ride! Lol! I enjoy your content. As you may know from a previous post, I'm riding chase the sun and looking to document my journey. Can I ask what editing software you use? Is it an easy process to edit? I've uploaded old go pro snowboarding vids but not with the slickness of your posts. As you say, content is key, so hopefully, I can captivate an audience. Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated. May make it over to West Essex on my training rides this year. Be good to catch up. Keep the content going and happy riding 🎉
Thanks so much, Del! Gutted we haven't yet got to meet, but hopefully we'll get the opportunity if you're doing the DunRun again this year but otherwise, please drop me a line if you're heading over this way. Regards the editing, I use Adobe Premiere Pro, which can be expensive if you're only using it now and then. I was lucky to have it from the start, as I use the full Adobe Creative Suite of apps for my photography work, but I may have been reluctant to spend out on it in the early days if that wasn't the case. Take a look at CapCut though, which now has a free desktop app, that has so much more functionality than the mobile version. That'll definitely get you going for now. The editing itself can be as easy or as difficult as you want to make it, but naturally it gets easier and quicker over time. I like to keep my edits fairly simple, with probably the only bit that's a little beyond anyone just picking editing up being the ducking off the background music during the speaking parts. There are plenty of YT tutorials for any given programme though, so nothing's insurmountable. I also tend to cut any 'Umms, errs' and dead space out too, just to keep the pace up a bit.Really all depends on the video though, as the early morning one I posted recently was a much slower paced affair and had lots of 'thinking space'. I could go on, but I'd be here forever! 😂 I'm no expert, but feel free to drop me a line on IG if you need any other filming or editing advice though. Otherwise, thanks so much for all of your support over the last couple of years.
Oooooh, that sounds very enticing, Gavin! Was completely unaware of that. I'll definitely be mooting that one to the group. Might be a bit last minute for some of them to make it but that's a great shout, cheers.
Thanks so much, Sam. I have to say, I've enjoyed your good natured ribbing and on more than one occasion have imagined what your reply will be when mentioning my gravel bike! 😂 Thanks so much for all the support. 💪
Subscribe to a fair few cycling videos, but I think your success is down to, well, your just like us and we all have a crazy mate like Jimmy 😂 Never change Mr T. Happy New Year to you Clay
Thanks so much, Clay. I try my best to keep it real. TBH, even if I did get lofty ideas, I think my mates would bring me back down a peg or two and keep me firmly planted! 😂 Thanks so much for the support and happy new year to you and yours too. 💪🏻🌟
I have enjoyed 99% of your videos, which is a very high standard. My favourite is still a very early one when you all felt there was a track across a field that did not exist. I can't remember what made you turn back it may have been a river or a deep ditch. It was Jimmy's fault. I look forward to your 1000th video.
If there’s a crazy idea or challenge in the air, then it’s probably come from Jimmy! But then, no great story started with ‘I was doing this really sensible thing…’ 😂 I’ve said it before and I’ll no doubt say it again though Richard but thank you so much for all you likes, comments and support over the last couple of years. I genuinely mean it when I say how grateful I am for all of you guys. If I could kiss you, I would! 😂
Hi Peter I love watching your videos with all your crazy mates congratulations on your mile stone it always makes me want to get out with my group for a ride except the one you went out in the storm the other week 😂 not me thanks 🤔 keep it up Peter looking forward to more videos in 2025 happy new year 👍
You have to embrace the adventure, Leslie. No great story ever started by saying ‘looks a bit windy out, I’ll stay in’ 😂 Thanks so much for your very kind words and your support though. It’s very much appreciated. 💪🏻🌟
Good morning Peter, lm a new subscriber to your channel, I started by watching your video about your experiences with 1 year of no booze. Because of that I'm currently attempting dry January. I'm also bicycle crazy . In April I start another long ride, southern Sweden to Nordkapp, then turn around and ride to Bali on a 1970 something single speed ladies city/shopping bicycle. I'd love to make a series of documentary style video's, and put them on UA-cam, but I have absolutely no idea how to edit or upload video's. I don't even own a camera, or a computer, or a drone, or a tripod, or a microphone. To be honest the whole idea of it intimidates me, but, after watching your video I'm a tiny, tiny bit less intimidated, so maybe somehow I will try to understand technology, and not be such a pussy, and try ? But, I also want to say to you, WELL DONE .One of the reasons I watch and like your video's is that you have such a great way of explaining things, in a clear and precise style. Also you don't say "em" 4 or 5 time's in every sentence like most English people do. And you can also correctly say the word's, THree, THink, THought, and THanks, as opposed to Free, Fink, Fought, and Fanks, again like most English creator's do 😂😂😂😂. So keep up the GREAT work. Fanks very much, Neil.
What a great comment! Thanks (fanks! 😂) so much Neil. Firstly, that ride seems epic and I’m very jealous. Sweden to Bali via Nordkapp…. Wow! And you should absolutely document it. Just use your phone, if nothing else though. As a photographer, there’s a saying in the industry that goes ‘the best camera in the world, is the one you have with you’ because you could have a top of the range video camera at home, but if you’re not carrying it in your pocket, then you’ll never get the shot. That’s why I love camera phones these days. Regards the editing, take a look at a free app called CapCut, which will do 99% of the stuff you’ll need without paying big bucks for Premiere Pro/Final Cut. And more of all, don’t forget to enjoy it. That trip sounds like the route of a lifetime, so don’t get too bogged down behind the camera. Film what you can and your enthusiasm for what you’re doing will naturally shine through. As for my pronunciation, as someone who grew up in Essex with Cockney parents, it’s amazing that I’m not talking in Cockney rhyming slang in most videos! 😂 Thanks so much for joining me on this ride though and best of luck with dry January. I’m honoured that I inspired you to give it a go. Keep me updated about your trip too. I’d love to follow your journey. 👌🏻
Why do I watch? Cos you're a nice guy whose relatable. Keep it up fella 👏🏼
What a compliment! Thanks much, buddy. I really appreciate that. 👌🏻🌟
Glad you kept on making them mate - most real and relatable cyclist out here! Keep em coming!!!
Really appreciate you saying that, mate. Just trying to keep it real. 😉👌🏻

Thanks. Yeh, I’m sure I could put a video together on that at some point. Watch this space. 👌🏻
@ brilliant would love that thank you
💪🏻
Congrats on the milestone Peter! I'm in the midst of trying to find myself on UA-cam, and you and now this video have been very inspiring! Congrats again and look forward whats in store for you this year, I'm sure it will be a belter!!
Thanks so much, Leon. The best piece of advice I could give anyone is to lean in to what you can see has worked on your channel previously and keep pressing it until it squeals! 😂
For my channel, people seem to enjoy bike builds, so I’ve made sure to do a good few of those with a bit of variety between them to keep it interesting.
I’d look back at which of your old videos has done well and try to emulate that again, but otherwise, just keep plugging away and you’ll get there.
Best of luck, mate. 💪🏻
@@petertreadway Thanks Peter, I really appreciate the advice and the encouragement!
Absolute legend! 😎
I just found your channel and I have to admit your videos are amazing.
Thank you so much, Noah. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos and it’s great having you along for the ride. 👌🏻🌟
Loved watching Peter 👀 keep up the great content 👏
Thanks so much, Wayne. I really appreciate your support. 💪🏻🌟
I'm a new Subscriber, looking forward to watching old and new videos,
Thanks for your top tips and honestly
Happy New Year 🎉
Thanks so much, Terry. So great to have you aboard and really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. 💪🏻🌟
Happy new year to you and yours too.
Well done Mr. Treadway, have a great New Year, big fan of your channel. Ride on!
@@richardgitz2264 thanks so much, Richard. I really appreciate all your support this year!
Happy new year to you and yours too. 👌🏻
Значит ты на верном пути брат)))
Just great Peter, please keep them coming. Would be a disaster if I didn’t have one of your videos to watch 👍
Brought tears to my eyes there mate 😂😂😂. Joking aside keep the videos/content coming 👏👏👍
Cheers mate. Good to hear I can make you all misty eyed! 😂
Really appreciate the support though buddy. I’ll have to get down to see you for a ride at some point…. I’ll need some thicker tyres first though. 😉
@petertreadway yeah but you'll need to ditch that lycra as well or I'll lose what little credibility I have if I'm seen with you 🤣🤣
I will find my tightest of Lycra skin suits just for you! 😂
@petertreadway 🤣🤣
Inspirational man
Thanks so much, Matt. 👌🏻
С наилучшими пожеланиями друг!!! Продолжай , и не здавайся!
Thanks so much. I really appreciate it. 👌🏻🌟
Peter, find the videos, fun, entertaining and interesting. I don’t get back to the UK, very often, as I live in Spain so if you’re ever in the Denia area give me a shout and maybe we can go for ride.
Thanks so much, Steve. I’d love to come and do some riding in Spain, so I may well take you up on that offer at some point. Very much appreciated. 👌🏻🌟
Another great video. Looking forward to seeing what 2025 brings you!!!!
Thanks so much, Eric. Yep, 2025 is going to be an awesome year of adventures. 👌🏻
Just watched your 100th
Congratulations, Pete.
Well done to you.
Here’s one for you for next weekend
The national cyclocross championships in gravesend mate.
Oooooh, that sounds very enticing, Gavin! Was completely unaware of that. I'll definitely be mooting that one to the group. Might be a bit last minute for some of them to make it but that's a great shout, cheers.
@ I’ll keep a eye open for you them if you do go
We are traveling up from the Isle of Wight to watch it.
And a good year of my abuse :) It's been a pleasure to watch a decent, down to earth channel with a good mix of content from a relatable guy :)
Thanks so much, Sam. I have to say, I've enjoyed your good natured ribbing and on more than one occasion have imagined what your reply will be when mentioning my gravel bike! 😂
Thanks so much for all the support. 💪
Subscribe to a fair few cycling videos, but I think your success is down to, well, your just like us and we all have a crazy mate like Jimmy 😂 Never change Mr T.
Happy New Year to you
Clay
Thanks so much, Clay. I try my best to keep it real. TBH, even if I did get lofty ideas, I think my mates would bring me back down a peg or two and keep me firmly planted! 😂
Thanks so much for the support and happy new year to you and yours too. 💪🏻🌟
"Don't let perfect be the enemy of done"... I probably should tattoo that on my forehead.
You and I both, brother. 💪🏻
But then, no great story started with ‘I was doing this really sensible thing…’ 😂
I’ve said it before and I’ll no doubt say it again though Richard but thank you so much for all you likes, comments and support over the last couple of years. I genuinely mean it when I say how grateful I am for all of you guys. If I could kiss you, I would! 😂
Was it the Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire tri-point?
Ahhh, yes! The cross country ride to look at…. A ditch! 😂
@@petertreadwayyes that's it.
No great story ever started by saying ‘looks a bit windy out, I’ll stay in’ 😂
Thanks so much for your very kind words and your support though. It’s very much appreciated. 💪🏻🌟
@ this is true Peter but at the age of 74 if you get blown off the bike you don’t bounce very well 😂
Also, an idea for your 101st video. A compilation of Jimmyisms, I predict it'll be your biggest hit to date 😂
That’s not a bad idea at all… he’s got a few! 😂
Thanks so much for joining me on this ride though and best of luck with dry January. I’m honoured that I inspired you to give it a go.
Keep me updated about your trip too. I’d love to follow your journey. 👌🏻
2:43 - and 673 jibes about it weighing 13kg ;)
And there is said good natured ribbing! 😂
@@petertreadway my work here is done 😁 There is going to be some serious cake fine to pay at the coffee stop, isn't there...? 😬
You say your work here is done as though you’re never going to mention 13kgs around me again…. 👀🤣
But yes, the cake fine-o-meter is blowing a gauge currently! 😂
@@petertreadway I'm sorry, but you have more chance of sailing to the moon than me dropping that one 🤣
