I think 4.7 has potential to be the best patch of genshin so far: increased resin cap, new endgame mode, new archon quest, 3 new characters, so much lore, pretty much everything except a new region

Wriothesley is actually about thirty at minimum. In his story quest he says he was a teenager when he was sent to Meropide, double that when he officially took on Meropide's duties according to his Vision story, and has been so for three years minimum since he was already established as such when Callas was still alive as Callas was his drip marketing intro. While its doubtful he was nineteen by the time he was imprisoned, his floor is anywhere from 29 to 41.

Nobody talks about how bathysmal vishaps could not harness pyro. I think it might have something to do with the dragon and their authority. It might still posses it, Murata might even be a dragon.
All saurians are mix dragon race of Pyro + 6(one will be only pyro) element(probably cryo doesn't exist because no enviorment there)

(I’m doing a watch through and commenting as I go so this comment might be really edited) also, i’m commenting on the Natlan stuff only as I’m a native american, more specifically, of the P’urepecha tribe, neighbors to the Nahua (aztecs). I do mainly live in the US, but my community is primarily indigenous peoples of all over the Americas.

26:24 ) The event NPC calls them murals, which is the correct term in comparison to “graffiti”. Muralism was invented in Mexico, and it’s a very big part of Latino culture : ). I’m sure you know ‘graffiti’ typically holds cruder connotations, so I recommend using the term “murals”. (Although, to be fair, a good amount of the wall art *is* graffiti)
27:42 ! The NPC mentions “Tepetlisaurs” and Tepetl literally translates to “mountain” or “hill”, though usually used as a prefix for “earth”. So they’re probably the closest in relation to geovishaps! : )
43:13 I’m not sure if this is the most accurate source, but I have heard from family that, “war is the way of change; the way to allow air to pass through obsidian walls; the way in which we obtain freedom from oppressive stagnation.” I heard this during a conversation about the war-culture between our ancestors, as my extended family is primarily a mix of P’urepecha and Nahua people.

chrion last says the sacraments atualy give the archons permission (talking loosh eating IRL archons not genshin archons) so makes sense there would be soem form of sacrament in genshin.
as an arachnid/arthropod enthusiast it always tickles me how much Genshin refuses to give its creatures the proper number of legs XD spiders, octopodes, scorpions, hermit crabs... very fascinated about Teyvat evolution in general, it probably will tie into the significance that certain numbers seem to have in the game
slightly related, you could make the technical argument that Arlecchino does accurately depict a spider with 8 legs and 2 pedipalps (arms), so she's at least a bit better than the other cases lol
I think that the recent Cyno quest with the Ba Fragments of Hermanubis will play a role in Natlan. You know how Hoyoverse loves to drop quests like that before a new nation gets unveiled as little breadcrumb trails for us to follow.
What if, a long time ago, the essence of the Pyro Sovereign was split into six fragments (phoenix fragments?) and each tribe leader/great warrior was given a fragment, so that all tribes felt equal in power. Everything was fine until the pyro archon emerged from one of the tribes. The other five tribes immediately felt like there was a power imbalance, and that one tribe was now more powerful than the others. So began the in-fighting. Tribes fighting with each other to gain the Phoenix fragments and increase their own power. The bringing together of fragments meant that the Pyro Sovereign was close to returning. This drew the attention of Ursa the Drake, who saw the Pyro Sovereign as a threat, and who began to hunt down the tribes to eliminate the Phoenix Fragments (why Vanessa’s tribe was so hunted by Ursa the Drake).
I also think that Bennett was born from one of these Phoenix Fragments, which is why he was found as a little baby all alone in the Mare Jivari. Someone had the foresight to hide the last fragment in a living host to keep the Pyro Sovereign from returning until the time was right, and to keep one tribe from having all the power by having all the fragments.
That’s a pretty cool theory, but is there a precedent for this before? Like the closest quest I can think that mirrors this is Yoimiya’s Act 2 which came near end of Sumeru, but didn’t end up having any bearing or hints on the Fontaine plot?

I mean, one of its acts is literally called "All world's a stage", which is the name of her Demo. In case you didn't do it I won't say anything more.
Otherwise I don't think any permanent Quests foreshadowed the next region. It's mostly the Summer Events that did so

(at around 1:25:00) Wriothesley can not LOGICALLY be under 26. I did math on this shit, here:
in his character stories we learn that he killed his parents as a teenager so at LEAST 13 and he became administrator when 'his age had nearly doubled' so let's say 24 to 25. He then was Administrator for at least three years before game canon, as he has met Callas (who died three years previously) as administrator. So Wriothesley is most likely in his thirties, but he is definitely 27 and above.
(it could even be argues that he is in his fourties if you say he got arested when he was around 18/19, which made him administrator at around 34 to 37 plus 3 or more years is almost 40, and only he has ONLY been administrator for three years, he could be even older than that)
Yeah there's a number of characters that at minimum are late 20s, like Kaveh who at minimum is around 25 as 20 years past since he was a child that somewhat inspired his father to compete. Arlecchino is also technically minimum of 22 if you want to be loose in interpretation, but more likely 27+. If she said they're either under 30 or immortal, I think it would be a more reasonable take even though there are still a couple possible exceptions like Arlecchino and Wriothesley they can be older
I completely agree about the Wuthering Wave story. I found it quite strange and confusing. As a fluent Chinese speaker, I normally play these games in Chinese, but the way the game presents the world-building feels like it expects me to read ancient Chinese. The introduction of new vocabulary explained through poetic language makes it really hard to grasp the setting.
Also as the story progressed, I started disliking many of the characters, which is the opposite of my experience with Hoyoverse games. For example, the character JianXin giving goods to thieves trying to steal parts from a critical military tower, it didn't make her seem kind, but rather like someone with a savior complex. And Yangyang's comment something like "the warriors at the frontline only needs to go off and fight monsters but they backup teams has a lot to take care of." and when I saw that I was like girl are you serious? They are fighting with their lives to protect you people, and dealing with their needs is the least you can do in a time like this ( I think they ended up deleting this line from the game because a bunch of people complained about it in the Chinese social media).
These little things instantly made me dislike the characters. I had to mentally "brainwash" myself to just enjoy the gameplay and not think too deeply about the story. The only reasons I haven't quit are the combat system and exploration. Seriously they need to do better if they want to compete genshin. The combat is super good they just need to work on their story delivery a bit more cuz it's just not working right now.

Guys, I noticed something while playing the Specially shaped saurian event!
Ranjit (the event guy) tells us about a soldier who was "unloved of the sun". He says that the soldier couldn't get a saurian buddy because of this. He even tells us that this guy was UNLUCKY. And the reason why he was unlucky was because his father made a mistake that caused the Sun hate this poor fellow.
Now, I don't know about you but what if this is what happened to Bennett? What if he IS from Natlan and the reason why he is so unlucky, is because someone close to him made a big mistake and the Sun (whatever it means) casted its hatred to him? What if that mistake was that Bennett was brought OUTSIDE of Natlan and abandoned?
Idk, this is just something what I started to think while I was reading the event text.
I remember seeing official Noelle birthday art this year reading The Boar Princess and she wonders if the meaning of the rose is friendship and looks forward to the next volume.

after reading The Boar Princess, one thing that strikes me is the lines where the princess tells the wolf that she will sacrifice the turtle and fox are separated from her other lines, indicating that it is someone else talking, at least that's my initial assumption.
'"-- I have never seen such misery in my kingdom!'
'I will sacrifice everything to feed your hungry belly!"'
and then
'"Nope! That's why...'
'I will sacrifice two of the wisest and most caring members of my family...'"
This pattern never happens anywhere else in the story, and usually that kind of line break only occurs if it's someone else talking. This detail might mean nothing, but if the story has connections to the mages, this detail could be very important to someone who is better at theorizing than I am. I just can't figure out another reason why those specific lines would be separated from the rest of her dialogue.
I think it was hinted at when I think it was Fox said that friendship starts with sacrifice, and the Boar Princess did sacrifice her two best friends to melt that wolf's heart, so instead of sacrificing "Everything" all the boar princess did was sacrifice her two closest advisors. so that might be the change really.
i still like the irony theory a lot when it comes to predicting the themes of upcoming nations:
Mondstadt is the nation of freedom, but that freedom is demanded by its archon
Liyue is the nation of geo with the oldest living archon, something that represent sturdiness and stableness, but underwent a massive change with the "death" of the archon
Inazuma is the land of lightning, something that lasts for less than a blink of an eye, yet its archon demands an unchanging eternity
Sumeru is the land of wisdom, yet the most knowledgeable rulers are not wise enough to see through the fatui's schemes and put its citizens' in harm's way
Fontaine is the land of hydro, which represents purity and is the source of life, yet its water is impure and is "killing" its people instead
Now with natlan, there could be a few ideas that make the "nation of war" title ironic. The most obvious one is that could be the most peaceful land, and their idea of war is cultural exchanges, this would also line up with the vishaps evolving to "live" with the humans.
To be clear ventilation doesn’t demand freedom from his people he believes that they should have the freedom to choose there own life weather that’s by worshipping him or going there own path he doesn’t care only if his people are happy
With Natlan I think the idea of war is more so spiritual rather then physical it’s like what ashikai said fire ravages wild life but also makes way for new forms of life volcanos actually do the same in real life so war is a way of rebirth since that’s Batman’s main gimmick
venti literally has a line about NOT requiring that though. "freedom, if demanded of you by an archon, is really no freedom at all" was something he directly said to dvalin after the fight with him. so idk how well that theory holds up.

Something about the time line is like when Elysia Realm release in Honkai Impact, i think Hexenzirkel lore presentation at least will be similliar like how they did in Honkai Impact when they introducing Flame Chasers lore
If Mondstadt wasn’t the very first region and came out in like 4.0, then I think we would’ve gotten straight out flying there as a “new” mechanic for example
I feel like Bennett and Natlan might be like Xinyan and Fontaine, where there was an allusion to a different region but not much really manifested out of it; she wasn’t even involved in the latest Iridescent Tour
About 43 minute mark my take is similar to yours. I still feel strongly that Bennett’s bandage story explains the vibe I mean. He’s always unlucky and getting injured but the collection of bandages he treats like badges of honor(!) makes those everyday struggles seem worth the reward.

Went and re-read the book, and got reminded of the battlepass story & the general outline of Traveler's quest. Now I'm wondering if the ending is a foreshadowing or a warning about the Traveler ultimately choosing their lost twin and sacrificing (literally or symbolically) other people they've met on their quest to break the "frozen heart curse", for "what nobler cause could one pursue in this world than rescuing lost kin and rekindling lost friendships?"
2:00:44 I was reminded of the story of Alice in Wonderland, because the Mock Turtle and the Gryphon talk of making mock turtle soup. It would fit with the storybook themes of Monstadt and the morbid absurdity of the Boar Princess since said Mock Turtle is admiring the soup in which he is the main ingredient.
Given Ningguang's effective position as prime minister of Liyue I don't believe she's under 25. It took her a long time to rise from poverty to successful businesswoman and then to the top politician seat. My immediate impression is she's in her 40s.

I can't help but wonder how much was planned before the launch of the game.
Neuvillette cannot change forms at all. He mentions this in the Serenitea pot conversation. He laments losing his original form. This implies he cannot switch at will. The little hints of fins and such during his elemental burst and powers and such are just a shadow of what he used to be.
The whole Saurians living with humans stuff gives me huge Dinotopia vibes.

Tbh, I see what they were going for for Genshin early on. Dialogue logs were a thing in HI3, but they aren't a thing in open world story games, a lot of the decisions made in Genshin make a lot of sense in that context. Skip dialogue scenes would be another in a similar situation.
My assumption has been that they wanted to seperate Genshin as far away from a VN feel, and to a AAA action adventure game feel. But in turn, having that dialogue log would've been great at the start.

When Ashikai was talking about the potential concept of war (aka the flames of war), it made me remember learning about the farming techniques the Aztecs were doing to keep their soil full of nutrients since their capital was built directly on top of an exposed reef which was not suitable for agriculture it by itself and so they would purposely set fire on their lands to create new nutrient rich soil for their crops. They would make rounds on different plots of land while letting the others have time to grow and recuperate. I thought that may have played into the concept of Natlan in some way even if it's just a little.

I have crack thought that traveler is boar princess and sibling is wolf prince and this story show what will happen in the end when traveler reunite with sibling. They will devour Teyvat (and all friends we made along the way) because they travel through stars and devour worlds like galactus from Marvel. (this crack thought have no back bone and is based on things i hear in this video and my brain)
53:53 Just looked this up and Xbalanque (pronounced sh-bah-lahn-KAY) and Hunahpu are indeed known as the "Hero Twins" from Mayan legend. They are specifically the second pair of Hero Twins as a common theme in Mayan culture is rebirth and cyclical time. Kinda cool since the Natlan chapter is titled "Incandescent Ode to Resurrection". Now that I think of it, I wonder if GI will make a playable Hunahpu to Compliment Xbalanque almost like a Lyney Lynette situation.
I would recommend the Ancient Americas UA-cam channel for a good basic start to various mythologies and timelines (and also to update what's considered best terminology for those cultures)
btw, the "cultural exchange" between west africa and brazil was a product of the triangle slave trade, so it's probably more modern than what the game devs will be borrowing from when it comes to mytholgy?

As it seems the twins might be Eons that you would find in Honkai Star Rail, traveling around the universe journaling memories and histories of the planets they visit, maybe Gension’s storyline will be rolled in to Honkai. I recently replayed my favorite game of all time, Chrono Cross, and i realized it has a lot of similarities with Genshin overaching story, i don't know if you know anything about it but i think there's some concepts specifically towards the end that if it happens in Genshin would be pretty cool
Of all people, Ashikai giving credit to the recent trend of thinking the traveler is weak surprises me greatly. She can't have forgotten about the part where they defeated 2 Fatui harbingers on their own, or how they defeated an actual god, right ? They might not be the single strongest being out there, but weak ? That's certainly an interesting point of view
I think she meant weak in terms of god being power level, I think traveler power now is little higher than ordinary vision holder combatant like diluc, dehya, kazuha etc but not as strong as battle veteran demigod level like xiao, xianyun etc
@@sunglassfrog89 That's the problem though, as it would imply that your typical vision bearer is almost as strong as freaking Tartaglia or Signora which is definitely not the case at all.
Someone like Xiao (and other similar adepti/yokai/etc) I could see being relatively similar in strength to the traveler, even though, again, the implication would be that the harbingers as an organization are truely not as impressive as they're supposed to be, as we'd be constantly meeting characters as strong as them. It severely waters down the threat they're supposed to be posing if a third of the playable roster can clap them. Might just be me, but I have noticed that regarding stories like the Boar Princess two things:
The long-running theory that roses indicate books that have important allegorical meanings, and that roses mean secrets. They are very secretive indeed, for the only collectable Rose flower in game is the Rainbow Rose, which says in it's description that despite the name it is actually closer to a lily. So no real roses in game.
And the wolf pup: There are boars, foxes, and tent tortoises among the wildlife in games, but no natural wolves. Only the Wolf of the North or the Rifthounds are present to indicate that wolves might be a real thing, but there are no mundane wildlife wolves. Which is odd considering how many stories mention them, as well as Razor's backstory.
I forgot about the Sumeru rose, which does kick my first observation in the teeth. It seems an entirely different type of flower to the roses used on the book covers though...

Okay, but think about it. Deshret was a sun dog who fell for a much older moon maiden. Even when the flower whopped him with (1) the public announcement "I'm going to die now, as a caution against lusting after Forbidden Knowledge," and (2) a massive spectacle of icy floodwaters to the face of their nation, he was so busy day-dreaming that he just couldn't take the hint. So he deserted everybody. It took the whopper-hammer of hitting chasm-ic rock-bottom to wake Deshret up so he would recognize himself a Sinner and leave behind the entire corpus of Forbidden Knowledge he had amassed.
And now I will gleefully drop a bomb --- Who thinks Deshret, Yaoyao, Baizhu, and Qiqi should be a Liyue version of 4ggravate, but pointedly all in an aroace and even playmate sort of way because ew? And also to make a point that true soul-mate partnerships don't have to be romantic. Also, Deshret might be the most immature one in that group.
(This assumes the pairings don't complete until endgame, when Qiqi gets an age-appropriate growth spurt and after Deshret finds himself a new child-sized body.)

I don't have nearly enough citations to back this up but I think the Kaenrhiah chapter will reveal that Gold managed to get the dragon pearl and was hoping to create a different Loom of Fate which backfired and caused the cataclysm. I'm wondering if Tsaritsa will seek out the pearl once she has all the gnosis and the big war will be much more catastrophic than expected
The only thing I can think of when it comes to the whole betrayal thing is back in the beginning of Sumeru, Traveler ended up in a dream and in that dream an Abyss Lector talks about how their sibling has abandoned them and thinks they are insignificant. There's also the fact that the twin only woke them up because of the cataclysm and they had differing opinions back in the chasm, so maybe deep down, the Travelers feelings for their twin has become very complicated and they don't know what to think anymore. Or it could be something else.
I find it funny that some people are calling the Saurians childish, in my opinion they're cute, but we definitely shouldn't judge a book by its cover. We thought the Melusines were cute when we first saw them but then when we got to Fontaine we were hit with a lot of dark subjects. Murder and kidnapping, drugs, animal abuse, child trafficking and a bunch of other stuff so god only knows what we'll find in Natlan.

Please take good care of yourself. I have seen many of my favourite you-tubers take time off recently due to burn out. We all love the content but I would hate to see anyone get sick just so I can get some entertainment. Your videos are wonderful and it would be sad if you had to stop or if the quality went down because you felt you "had to" make videos. So many viewers seem to forget that you-tubers are people too.
Is it possible that the Traveler not being "strong" has to do with the ability to resonate with the people of each nation. That might be why the twin can't "change the world". The twin doesn't understand the needs of the people of Teyvat like the Traveler, and that's why they can't be a descender?!
