AudioMixers allow us to control the signal flow of audio sources in a Unity project. Using an AudioMixer one can change volume levels, route signals into groups and process sounds with audio effects. In this lesson we'll cover the basics of creating and configuring AudioMixers including assigning audio sources to groups, routing groups into one another and routing AudioMixers into other audio mixers.

I'm crying now, I spent the whole day trying many different ways to make a global music/sound menu with only code, I achieve the goal, but I think it's not very well optimized, and now, I know that there's am AudioMixer in Unity!! Thank you very much
Take a look at the Game Jam Menu template on the asset store, it's free and there's some pre-setup stuff you can use. - Matt
The missing addition audio functionality was the main reason why our studio did not use unity. Great job now!
This helped me understand the audio mixers really quickly, glad that it still works similarly to how it did in 2014

Thanks for doing this. We were working with Wwise but have decided to use the native audio abilities in Unity for right now.
This thing is cool. I have a issue with low sound in VR. I solved it by increasing +db from master volume.

What if my sfx are not in the "Hierarchy" but are in a list within a prefab? I'm the Sound Designer and my programmer friends activate the sfx through code, making calls to that list... So I can't access a properties section where I can choose the output of the sfx...

Maybe get a reference in your code to the mixer. Then make the parameter match the value of your button input

I'm having a problem with my unity audio. I reported the bug but i don't get a answer yet. The problem is that my unity doesn't play any audio, even in the folders or in the play mode, it's completely mute and i don't know why. I checked the options in the project settings and preferences, i checked if the camera has an audio listener and it has, i tried everything but all is ok and in the right configuration but yet my unity doesn't play any audio. The audios are in the right format too (mp3 and Wav) and i played them with the windows player and all of them played right (even because i made all the audios and i tested every of them much times) but in unity nothing happens. Can anyone help me with that issue? i'm a rookie developer and i don't know why this is happening and how to solve

Why differentiate between mixers and groups? They seem to be the same basic thing.

I am a bit confused: what is the difference between adding groups (which can be chained serially and in parallel) and adding more mixers (that are children of the master channel)?
Well I'm not sure why you would need more than one mixer?
