I think it is hard in any country when you are on a working holiday visa . There is too much red tape . Since Covid , it has been tough on everyone . The cost of living is too high . . Even me at 60 struggle to find a job because I am too old and I having lived in OZ since 1967 . I hope you find a good job so you can continue another year on your working holiday Visa . Best of luck !

If you're still here, try the snowy mountains now for the ski season coming up.

Hey girl 😊 I’ve binge watched loads of your videos that started with your packing video the past week because me and my boyfriend are moving from Manchester to Aus in August on a working holiday visa. I work full time in lettings but I’m going to get another job at costa or somewhere so it helps me with a hospitality job.
I’m really interested in how you got a job through love to travel - feel like it might relate to my letting experience?
I’m a yoga teacher part time too so I’m hoping there’s some work for that also.
Anyway I’ve really enjoyed watching these vlogs, you seem to be having such a good time and it’s been really grounding seeing the ebs and flows ! It’s getting me so excited and you seem so lovely, feel like we’d be mates 😂
    Lotsa love x

Hey girlie! That’s so sweet, I’m glad you’ve been enjoying my videos and they’re getting you excited to come over here ☺️ I did the same before I moved here constantly watching vlogs!! Where are you planning to settle first? My friend in Sydney is with a recruitment agency (she had no lettings experience, I can find out what they’re called for you) and they’ve been getting her temp admin roles in various places including estate agents - a company like that would probs love your experience even if you don’t directly do the same job with them as at home! It usually pays better than hospo too. Welcome to Travel recruit for new people every 4-5 months or so - people who’ve done their Syd/Melb welcome tours and travelled the east coast are preferred as that’s what you’re selling but equally if you say you want to travel the coast after working for them, show interest in the destinations and that you want to learn the best places to visit through the training they provide I’m sure they’d love to hear from you 😌 they normally announce on social media when they’re hiring! omg I’ve just got into yoga this past few months - I love doing yin & vinyasa! Where did you do your training? If we are in the same city at the same time I would love to meet up, and even go to a yoga class together! Good luck with the prep & the packing 🙌🏼🥰

Maybe I,m confused but as an older Australian I thought that the working holiday visa was introduced as an opportunity for younger people from specific countries to come to Australia for a holiday and be allowed to work part of that time..A WHV is exactly that and you shouldnt build it up with false expectations that it probably isnt going to deliver. You need to look at your other options like the skills shortage visa or even a student visa if you want to stay longer in Australia and wish to work in a chosen field. Since the end of covid Australia has been swamped with exceptionally high levels of immigration especially by those arriving on temporary visas so those planning to come here dont expect things like jobs or accomodation are going to be as easy to find as they were prior to covid especially in the larger cities.

I’m in the exact same position as you. It’s so frustrating. Before coming to Australia it seems like there’s endless opportunities here. I though the same as you, that I want a chill hospitality job as a career break, but hospitality is exhausting after a while. The problem is the visa restrictions, because this visa is a very good business deal for Australia. It just feels stupid to work in a restaurant where all the waitresses are nurses, architects, accountants. No one I know are able to get any other jobs than in hospitality. It’s sad cause I’m actually loosing my respect for this country, because I feel like they treat us so poorly on the WHV. Half the people I met 6 months ago when I came to Australia has already left home. Also the housing situation is out of control! I feel like Australia was better before. Just know you’re not alone ❤️

And you are not “giving up”, you came here and did lots of things! But I think we should listen to the signs from the universe. At least I’m thinking that 100s of rejections on applications is a sign I should go back to my comfy 9-5 that pays better and is stable in my home country.

I’m glad my video is reaching the right people! I was hoping it would find people in the same position like you. It sucks. Feels like the best bet is finding a company who has offices in both countries and then getting them to transfer you. You’re right it is a good deal for Australia - I guess we’re compliant in the trade but we don’t fully realise how that feels until we are here being treated like shit, wasting our time etc. How I felt in my first year here felt very different to how I feel now - I would change nothing about it but now I’m in my second year I want to change everything 🥲 thank you for reframing it as not “giving up”. I lost the best relationship I ever had to my time here in Australia but maybe it was all meant to happen that way. At least it has made us redefine what it means to work a 9-5 and can probably appreciate it a bit more! So this also works as a good business deal for companies back home, returning with higher morale 😂 or what I suspect in reality - little do they realise we get sick of the 9-5 there, there’s no alternative but depression and that falls on our home country’s healthcare budgets 👌🏼
