My son is a JET in Tokyo and when I came over from England to visit, in April, we stumbled across Sakura and absolutely loved it. We didn’t see any other tourists. We arrived too late to see the samurai houses; they closed as we got there. Thanks for showing us the inside 😁

Well, Samurai Town is peaceful and even more greener, I liked it. Thanks John for the walking tour. I'll catch your next live real soon.

Went to Sakura back in March. A local man stopped to talk to me and was quite surprised to see a tourist. I thought that was a real shame, it's a beautiful town with a GREAT museum and it's not far from Tokyo, more people should visit.

Thanks for the shared discovery of such an authentic historical location so close to Narita. Would certainly merit a visit for when one flies into Narita Airport for a layover with not enough time to go into Tokyo. I was impressed with how similar the Samurai houses were to those we visited close to Shimabara Castle not too far from Nagasaki. It is great that people in Japan have made the effort to preserve and share these historical treasures.

Hi, John. It’s always nice and quiet just to visit the nearest or remote village houses and see what they look like. Tourists prefer places like SHIBIYA, SHINJUKU, AKIHABARA, Tokyo Disneyland, Meiji Jingu Maei.

There is a wonderful samurai house museum and tearoom in Kanazawa, well worth the visit.

John, it’s really funny 🤣 🤣😁😆to see you actually carrying a paper map, understandingly you want to know about the old streets in that area which may not be available on GOOGLE MAP, but most people rely on their hand phones 📱 for GOOGLE MAPS 😆😁😆😄😄😃😄😆

I loved this. I'm planning to go to Sakura next month before flying out of Narita. I found out about it by chance when looking for somewhere to go near Narita. Thanks John - another weather report for November would be appreciated too!

I've said this before on one of you videos but I am a disabled Air Force Vet that lives in California and we do not get a lot of money from the gov. So I would have to take a loan out to go to Japan lol so I love watching all your channels. Thanks for the Videos. If I can I will go to Japan someday. Probably take out a loan anyway so I can buy all the cool car parts and toys to bring back with me lol.

I love these kinds of trips you make, sort of reminds me of one of my favorite NHK shows Somewhere Street. You could post pictures in google maps street view if only you had the type of camera that is used. Edit: Am I the only one that ignores or closes the chat and imagines that John is talking only to you?

How difficult would it be to explore Sakura bamboo slope with a double stroller?

So for Hojicha, it’s made using the offcuts of the twigs and lower leaves of the tea plant which by the time they’re harvested and then roasted contain only trace levels of caffeine (allegedly) - as all the caffeine is concentrated up at the top leaves of the tea plant (which is why matcha is so strong as they use the very top leaves) 😁

You probably have early childhood memories of running around in one pair of Sears Toughskins jean for the duration of the '70s. Only to be retired, not because it wore out, but you outgrew it and it wouldn't fit anymore. And even when everyone switched to Levis 501s, 2-3 pair would last you through the '80s. So thinking that 'they don't make'em like they used to' is embedded in anyone that grew up in that time period.

FYI on bamboo, Peter can have a bamboo but he has to choose a clumping bamboo not a running bamboo. Sounds like he had a running bamboo.

"...going back to thousands of years ..." Huh?? I am afraid such claim could tarnish your credibility :) PS: hmm.. Jomon period ?
