Found Modge Podge dishwasher safe today! Waiting for the hour to pass the put on the next coat. I did mugs and 1 tumbler with painters tape for the rims 🤞🏽
Hi Jennifer. Thank you so much for this video! I am working on a coffee mug for my father-in-law for Christmas and this video really helped! One thing I am wondering though is if the mug can still be used or hand-washed before the 28 days is up.
Did you ever make another video about how to get your items to be dishwasher safe (without the texture) and microwave safe? I know we have the Cricut mug press now, but I don't always want to make a standard coffee mug and sometimes want to use vinyl instead of infusible ink.
Thank you, Melinda! Have you ever visited our library? Lots of tutorials, many with videos, there! You can find it here: 🥰 jennifermaker.com/resource-library
@@JenniferMaker I haven't - thank you so much!! I've made it pretty far into the UA-cam channel backlog at this point and am looking for more! I tried some other channels but have a really strong preference for yours 😁
Just started to do coffee mugs with my cricut and came across this video for sealing. I don't like the idea of the strokes showing , so I have looked into airbrushing it. turns out you can airbrush this sealant, mixed with a very small amount of water to thin it. Airbrushing makes it mist on with no brushstrokes and seals like a charm from what i am told ( from a rocketry forum of all places...apparently it seals the outsides of home made rockets like a dream.) I'm off to buy some of this modge podge tomorrow so will report back how it goes in the airbrush.
Hey Jennifer, was just watching this and actually used my cricut mini to adhere iron - on vinyl on a dollar rama mug. used highest setting and took my time and yay it worked.....but i digress, how is your version of modpodge coming along???? I really don't like washing dishes by hand....lol
We haven't used them much since the Mug Press came out. Since it's SO much easier to sublimate and it's dishwasher/microwave safe without any extra steps. 😊🌻

How about using it on photo coasters? I understand the dishwasher safe Mod Podge smudges photos. Can a regular Mod Podge be applied first to prevent the smudging and then covered with the dishwasher safe variety? Since tile photo coasters don't go in a dishwasher, but do need to be heat and water resistant (to hot mugs), would that dual process work?

You'd use for fine point blade, it's included with your machine. 😊 As for these mugs, the brand doesn't matter if you're placing vinyl on them. Did you sign up for Cricut Kick Off? makeracademy.com/cricutkickoff/
For these vinyl projects, yes, you can use any type of mug! For the Cricut Mug Press however you need to use either the Cricut mugs or other sublimation mugs. Thanks for watching!😊🌻

It should work. When applying the Mod Podge, use a soft, wide brush and as few brush strokes as possible, as it begins to set quickly. If you can brush it on with only one or two strokes, that is best. Use very thin coats.
Printable vinyl is very durable, scratch and tear resistant, and even waterproof with no sealant required! I would still recommend to only hand wash it.

It is best not to put vinyl in the microwave. You can use Infusible Ink.

It will dry clear but you may be able to see streaks. You may want to test it out on a dollar store glass to see if you like the results. 😊

I do not recommend using any sealer with permanent vinyl especially on glass. Just hand wash it for longer lasting results.

You wouldn't want to microwave vinyl.
What about glass cups would you be able to see the mod podge what could you use
I would only use permanent vinyl and only hand wash it.
What about sealing printable vinyl on a mug or tumbler?
Printable vinyl is very durable, scratch and tear resistant, and even waterproof with no sealant required! I would still recommend to only hand wash it.
If you're not using the Modge Podge as a sealant, is it still necessary to let the mug cure 28 days before using?
