I clicked on this thinking it would be about living your life fully as a women, and not allowing fear to limit you. As a woman who has lived alone (with my dog), runs and hikes in the woods and mountains alone, etc, it's important that I turn the fear into simple precautions, then live my journey as I want it to be.
Instead, it was a perfectly timed message I truly need, 6 years later, after an election I fear will be disastrous for mother earth and women in general.
Instead of letting fears and worries incapacitate me, I've decided to plan an enlarged veggie garden, build a greenhouse, and find organizations, to donate what little I can to, who will fight the awful incoming governmental decisions/decrees in court. I'm also going to take some time to get back to my own nature based worship, which I've let lapse these last few years. Thank you for this wonderful uplifting message, 6 years on.

I live in my van as a single middle aged womyn. Most days I must not let fear dominate my soul or else I would perrish. Womyn like you keep my dream alive and one day I will have land to treat as she should be. For now I have a few tomato plants and others on the dash board of this old beautiful van. No matter where you are treat the land with love and kindness and she will give you what you need. Do not listen or follow these false leaders.

I feared going to Ireland. I feared visiting Bealtaine. I feared quitting my job this summer. I feared starting a new job. I feared moving to California and then Oregon. I feared a lot of things over the last 48 years. But the fear didn't control me. I closed my eyes, smiled internally and said, "Well, either I'll land on my feet or I'll perish. What do I have to lose?" So I've done things that seem like "miracles" to the outside world. It was listening to my own intuition that allowed me to overcome and rise above the fear. Then I surrounded myself with people that were similar. Like you Colette! And finally, we move together as a group of like-minded people -- leaders and powerful beings -- with positive and loving intention as our weapon.

Oh Dear Colette,I wish I knew you 5-10 years ago when the dept. Of transportation STOLE 1/2 acre of my front yard to build a 4 lane highway! They "gave" me fair market value for it .I fought them since 2014.In the end they said if I took them to court ,they would take all of my property and my house thru emanate domain .They then bulldozed all of my beautiful trees and gardens! I sat out there and cried ,I feel like such a failure.I had no money or backing to fight the state no lawyer was willing to loose to the state. The only thing i can do is plant the rest of the property and take care of the wetlands in back. Three years later they still have not put in the highway, only sewer and water line.It has been a horrible nightmare! This is why I put my headphones on and listen to you and your wonderfulwoodland and those birds. It does give me some relief from the destruction going on outside. Thank you

I really needed to hear this, Colette. Thank you. The fear of the unknown after 27 years of marriage, being left to slide back into the poverty I clawed my way out of with blood sweat and tears, this is fearsome.... it is overwhelming, it feels like the world is telling me I have no worth. But I will do what makes me happy and call it minimalism, not poverty, I will call it freedom, not unemployment, I will call it adventure, not uncertainty. I will "turn my back" on that which threatens to take my power and destroy me and I will create and live. Thank you Colette. Thank you.

Your words embody the true conscoiusness everyone has to develop in order to live this life, which we know it doesn't end after the death of the body, but that we have to care for and to honor as a temple for our souls. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and Blessings to you and everythings around you. Paola

@@KMaCK8848 Thank you for your insight. As a 'white woman' raised in the diverse culture of Berkeley California in a school system that was first to implement MLK Day before the nation did, and from the class that was first in integration from K-12 (where I was a minority), I appreciate your perspective. My point is that we are finally seeing some diversity in our government that reflects our nation's community and beliefs on all sides that do not intentionally mean harm. As for your list, I would accept any of those women over what we are coping with right now (with the exception of Phyllis Schlafly, who is from a bygone era, and dead, so for her to be in charge right now would be super-creepy). None of these women intentionally tried to hurt anyone, they stood strong in their beliefs, or, as in the case with Conway and Huckabee, might be operating under duress. I am still proud of us all for coming out to vote, and proud again of my country for stepping up. Offered with love and gratitude for your comment.

Well said Collette! I spend my time challenging accepted mores and unthinking bureacracy but it is really hard work at times. My friends say I am a rugged individualist for living differently but ask why I make life so hard for myself, but I say look at history. Staying silent is disastrous. At my time of life when i have no young family dependent on me any more, no career to carve out, no mortgage to pay off, it is important that I do challenge. Personally I think it is the job of people in their sixties and seventies to speak out, to challenge and to defy. To be an example and a hope for the young ones that life can be different from that shown to them by our governments: that we have life to live, other lives to care for and an equal right with others, however important, to say what we believe is right for the Earth and its environments. I don't win all my battles, but I keep on keeping on and living in harmony with my little patch of earth and the wild creatures therein. And one more thing: there is such power in being a white haired old lady: they do not expect us to be or think radically: they are afraid of public opinion if they treat us badly: one threat of newspaper articles about bullying an old lady and they back down. i am fearless most of the time, but when i feel frail, I act fearlessly none the less.
Thank you so much for being a standard bearer and speaking out so eloquently: you give us backbone when we are weary:)

Dear Colette, yes money and fear rules the world. When they generate enough fear , people become governable. Knowing to much is dangerous in there eyes, because then we are not longer steerable. We are not rebellious enough. Today i become a little garden rebel. The grass between the stones on the garden path may grow instantly . Oh yeah what my neighbors ( row house ) will think well? I do not care . Mother Earth should get her right with me in my little garden . When we think positively , fear loses its terror . Many good recovery wishes to Sammy. Greetings to you and your loved ones , from Conny Braun and cat Felix from Germany.

This spring for me is at once incredibly beautiful and hopeful, as each spring is and yet, as I contemplate not being physically able to do what I want to put in a garden, to help the land I am often at my least hopeful and most dejected. When that gloom begins to take me over, I watch Bealtine Cottage, listen to Collette's soothing voice and enjoy the slower pace, the true pace of life. Then I feel encouraged, I know I won't give up. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for continuing to share your life, the healing of your land and the beauty of life at Bealtine Cottage.

We have much more power than we give ourselves credit for. Collectively and individually WE CAN CHANGE our environment and do not need the permission of government to help heal Mother Earth. Our little slice of wooded 5 acre heaven is slowly being changed into the Eden we dreamed of after so many decades living in very congested suburbs. Watching it evolve is so exciting and peaceful at the same time. Our choice has been to block out the political noise and work our land at our own slow pace. At the end of the day, looking out at the beauty of Mother Earth, we realize this is truly the biggest part of what feeds both our souls. We become inspired and reenergized by the loveliness of nature. We are always ready for and look forward to another day. It doesn’t get any better than this for us. We don’t need much money to make us happy. A little effort goes a long long way with Mother Earth. Colette there is so much wisdom and power in your words today. 💕🍁🍂

Thank you Colette, for talking me off the cliff this morning. The Tyranny that runs rampant in the country I Love is unbelievable but not unbearable. My family chooses to stay an fight while not letting it consume us. Our Natural Parks, clean water and food is what our family has fought for, going back to our Native American roots. Nature and the respect for it is what truly matters. My hope is that our 13 year old (soon to be Eagle Scout)son will be one of the voices that speaks for Mother Nature. She will do the big part, the healing, but she will need him to raise a fist against those of our race who abuse her. Blessings

In America being different is looked upon with suspicion in the rural areas of the south.
27 years ago i moved from California to Tennessee with my dying husband, my 2 sons, a dog, a cat and a parrot. My sons both went their own ways. My 2 daughters chose to stay in California. Anyway, I'm getting off topic. I was more pagan in lifestyle than religious. BIG MISTAKE. By not immediately finding a church and attending, i was labled a 'devil worshipper'. Long story short i decided to include God in my life. I still don't go to their churches because i don't find God there, only hate and distrust of 'others'. Hubby died 2 years after coming here. Last year my beloved eldest son, he was only 46 died. So my eldest daughter came to live with me. Life goes on doesn't it.

Thank you, Colette! Such powerful words with all the strength of truth!!! We all need this reminder.. on a daily basis...to lift us as we do battle with the forces which would tear down the goodness we choose to have in our life. Yes! FREEDOM is feared by those "power" forces because it rips away their facade to reveal their ugly true nature! They are the ones who go about slashing things to try convince us they are so strong but in the end they will shrivel and die in the darkness of the life they created for themselves. May each of us carry the veracity of these words - freedom and love - as the shield they are, to cast aside the ugliness from our daily paths. It is a battle; but, as you have said each of us is capable to exert our strength to show what is good and just! Your words were so needed after so many of your followers here in America awakened after a long day of voting. As a side note, I just read that the beautiful city of Madison, Wisconsin (population 145k +) had a voter turnout of 92.9% of registered voters yesterday...unheard of event! So many across the country chose to reclaim and exercise their rights even while so much effort was made to suppress and deny their freedoms. Some suppressors retained their positions through all kinds of means BUT the undressing has begun! Let the bugles sound...the emperors' march has begun! All blessings to you and your sweet recovering white knight!

Formation1 Now I am so proud of our beautiful state right now. This is why we chose retirement in Wisconsin decades ago. It has always been as smart as it is beautiful! I must say I was beginning to lose faith over the years but last night underscores why we chose Wisconsin! It doesn’t change how we go about our daily life but it does feel good knowing our people care and are paying attention 😉

Amazing colours Colette. You are in the 'real world' right there. There is no fear in your garden only love. Unfortunately many still believe what they hear and see on the media must be the 'real world' and of course the fear promoted there is the form of control used on the masses. We all have the ability to create anything we want. May we all awaken and go create 'life' lovingly. Blessings.

I've just discovered this, and our perspective - I feel alive for the first time at almost 56 years old - I love gardening on my apartment patio, as much crammed on as possible. I've had a hummingbird and toad on my patio.. that is surrounded by stones and asphalt - so I have s good small eco system there. I now meditate and live every moment (and enjoy it). My dream is living where I have trees/gardens

Each of us in our own way make a large difference and touch more people then we know - just like the pebble tossed into a pond with it's ripples continuing to go further and further. Colleen - look at all of the people you have touched. At this writing, you have over 44,000 subscribers and there are 168 comments to this one video. I once heard the word FEAR described as False Evidence Appearing Real. It's only how we think about it in our own minds. One person is afraid of this and the next person is afraid of that. Is either fear real or false evidence appearing real from what we've been told by others. We each need to think and do what feels right in our own way.

Thank you so much for sharing your perspective. I am currently facing a handful of fears that are both personal and reactionary to the circumstances of our human existence. I can see the possibility of inner freedom and feel life stream through me when I see a plant popping up through a crack in the sidewalk(urban areas, for eg.). I see these tiny plants as a reminder of their ability to persist because the flower or plant is sourced from the earth. The cycle of life is a much greater force than anything we may build or perceive as a great advancement. I love the moments when I feel connected to life. Those are the times when I am reminded that everything will be okay in the bigger picture because my dearest friend, the natural world, will be there when I need a nudge from them,
