There is a long history of hurt and discrimination in so many directions the least we could do is listen and be emphatic, “BoUrgeOiS bArbIe”. Right?
If you are someone that feels uncomfortable/angry/annoyed by Jackie for "always making things about race", consider that you may feel that way because you are not FORCED to be confronted about your race daily. You see one thread on twitter saying all white people are entitled and feel hurt being painted with a broad brush, and then come to my comment section and paint Jackie with a broader one. In the same way that you feel the need to voice your opinion here over one tweet, or a comment made in a video about this palette being designed with darker skin in mind, you can not expect a woman that is constantly having racist, abusive, reductive comments made to/about her to simply sit by silently when you yourself are not doing the same.

So glad someone with lighter skin finally used this palette. I don't understand why people are saying this palette can't be used by women with lighter skin. In truth, it's about time we have a palette that is thoughtfully designed to show well on women of color. Bought it over the weekend and it is quickly becoming my favorite. Thank you so much for reviewing this palette and giving us some new ideas.
Check out Julia Adams MUA. She's done looks with this palette too, and she's got a lighter skintone than Sam.

I am here cause I saw your comment on twitter and as a black woman I really appreciate when non black people understand why Jackie centers her platform around her race. It’s really comforting and I really love seeing this palette on all different skin tones.
I don't own any ABH pallets at all. Being of darker complexion, I want to make sure I can use every color in a palette.
This is the first palette I've ever wanted to buy!
I hope people understand that all skin tones can use this palette, but no all skin tones get full use out of other paletts.
(I also never got on the modern renaissance train becuase I was broke)

I completely agree. There is always a solid row of shadows that I can’t use because they are whites, tans, and champagnes that go ashy on my skin tone. I bought this palette a week ago and I’m obsessed with it!

I don't do my eyeshadow as much lately so I was going to skip this palette but seeing all these uncalled-for comments about it make me want to buy it just to support Jackie. I'm fair as can be and know damn well these eyeshadows will work just fine for me. This shouldn't even be an issue and I appreciate Sam for being an example of this.
Tbh this palette works way better on my freckled N10 skintone than the abh soft glam XD.
All the pretty Fall jewel tones are so flattering!

I am in love with this. I love the shade Wiggalese and when I wore it was the first time every family member said they liked my makeup.

This is my 5th ABH palette and 52nd total palette. It’s in my top 5 already. I love it! And I am more than happy to have to take my time to make it work for me because the shades are darker and more pigmented than others I have. If you were thinking of getting it and the funds are there I just can’t see you being disappointed! Sam, fabulous description box!

I absolutely appreciate that you zoom all the way in for eye looks, so we can ACTUALLY SEE what you're doing, however, that also means that we spend a large amount of time watching the top of your scalp. Which makes me laugh. Feels intimate.

I bought this palette the week it came out on the ABH website and I’m absolutely in love with it. I’m glad she made it geared towards women of color because as I’m noticing from watching her channel, a lot of palettes- face and eye shadow- don’t incorporate everyone and it’s quite sad. I’m so proud of her for this launch. And I’m obsessed with these looks you’ve created. Love you Sam!

ooo yes for those of us with light skin ginger is THAT SHADE. i feel like it is the perfect one color and go shade for me. i can do it lightly on the lid and then build it up in the crease and head out the door. also the shimmers are INCREDIBLE. im glad i decided to try it out!

I have light skin and it totally 100% works for any skin tone! I LOVE THE PALETTE. I am so happy that ABH collaborated with Jackie! All of the people complaining that she made this palette with darker skinned women in mind have no idea what it's like to be an outsider in the beauty community. Year after year makeup brands create foundations, concealers, eyeshadow palettes, bronzers, highlighters and everything else you can think of without even worrying about poc (particularly Black men and women) being able to use the products. I can't even tell you how many eyeshadow palettes have come out in recent years with four to five shades that men\women with deeper skin tones could not even think about using. You guys never have to tip toe around Ulta or Sephora searching for brands that have Women of Color in mind when they create products. If people discussing race makes you uncomfortable then maybe you need to check your privilege. We aren't out here talking just to talk. We're bringing up race because it applies sweetie. You can stay ignorant or you can actually listen to women like Jackie and try to understand where we're coming from. What you aren't going to do is bully is into staying quiet about injustice. Also, for those of you who are gonna say "Injustice? It's just makeup." If it's just makeup why are you so mad about a palette that can be used by everyone? Anyone can use it. It's not a Black-sclusive product. If you don't want Black people to be able to use the same makeup products as you than you're racist. CIAO
