Started watching since 1999 (I had nine or ten at the time) - my father had a VHS of WWF In Your House 5 and he introduced me into wrestling. Since then I witnessed the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Eras. I'm a third generation wrestling fan lol. PS: Undertaker scared the c*** out of me. 😂
I once had a nightmare that for some reason I was wrestling Kane from 1999 and Jeff Hardy in the original SD arena.. I'll never forget it because both me and Jeff ran backstage for our lives and I hid in a locker. Through the door I see Jeff be chokeslamed through a table and then suddenly just like the HIAC door in his debut he ripped the locker door clean off. At this moment I woke up drenched in sweat and relieved 🤣😂
You remember that Friday the 13th video game that came out like a year or two ago? Imagine that but having to play against Kane instead of Jason but in real life.
When Kane was unmasked I was so terrified to the point where red fireworks made me shake which wasn't easy because for independence day in my country as well as Christmas red fireworks were a staple
There can certainly be a part two to this. Because even though I was a teenager I still remember the cord Hendinrech struck with the audience by attacking people in the audience and leaving kids literally crying in the parents arms the terror was completed by him being brought to the ring in a straitjacket and chasing Micheal Cole to the back forcing Cole's commenting partner Taz to drop his headset and go looking for one hell of a fight.
I was 12 when I saw the Waylon Mercy picnic vignette and I was absolutely convinced somebody was going to die next week. I couldn't believe it was going to happen on TV.
I am in my 50s so most of these on the list came along when I was far grown. When I was a kid, the wrestler that scared me the most was The Great Kabuki. What made Kabuki so frightening were the Gary Hart promos. Listening to Hart talk convinced me that Kabuki was the most frightening man to ever live!
When you're like 8-10 seeing Papa Shango, a snake biting Macho Man, and the Undertaker almost murdering Ultimate Warrior & then getting bitten by snakes, it makes for quite the wrestling childhood. Kids these days have it so easy...
Undertaker was literally a nightmare to me, I still remember those nightmares about him. And in one of the old ps2 wrestling games he was a rival, and at one part you see every wrestler wear those black hoods, i remember unplugging the console when i saw that, it was insane how much i was terrified of taker back then
Weird one but Michael Tarver used to terrify me as a kid, the way hed stand there silent and stare right through you whilst also being rly tough looking
The only one who scared me as a kid was SID , the freaky look in his eyes and the monster build , geez i still even have goosebumps just thinking of it so many years later :) And not even a mention here
I was 10 years old when Mick Foley debuted his Mankind persona in WWE against Bob Holly. Holly spitting up after losing to the mandible claw freaked me out so much I stopped watching WWE for a year or to and ended up going with WCW. I was legit terrified of him as a kid.
I never thought any wrestlers were scary when I was a kid but I could definitely see Kane and Undertaker scaring some other kids. Heck, my daughter was frightened of Kane a few years ago when he was at his least scary.
*The Wyatt Family* put me in a trance while listening and seeing their promos in the Summer of 2013, wondering what kind of force could stop them. I really believed Bray Wyatt's words and his followers. And once the reporter went to the abandon house and saw the 3 men, you know it was the red flag of getting the heck out of there. The beginning of their journey before reaching WM30 was good.
Kane made me sooo uneasy as a child. I thought he was cool but he still scared me a bit. My mom got me one of those cheap plastic Kane masks at the very first WWF show I had attended. I was obsessed with Jason and Michael Myers too so it explains a lot. It's wild that Papa Shango wasn't around that long. Weird.
I was a kid in the 1980's - I think Papa Shango was probably the most terrifying for me. Undertaker was a face when I started watching in 92, he was still awesome though.
What was that one dude from the mid-2000's who had did some vignettes on smackdown and then never debuted. His vignettes legit scared the shit out of me.
I remember playing Wrestlelamia 2000 as a kid for the first time and using the Undertaker. I was so hyped! But when his titantron started playing with him speaking in Latin and his eyes rolled back, I turned off the N64 and ran out the room 😂
As a kid, only two wrestlers scared me. One was Razor Ramone. For a bit, he seemed so ruthless and mean lol. Then there was Taker. He truly scared me as a kid. When he sat up, unhurt, I was like, howww?! He isn't human! Haha man, good times. Glad wwe has The Fiend now. He's not Taker, but he's still amazing and a new generation will love him like Taker, I bet.
Started watching Wrestling in 89/90 at the age of 12/13, but I can‘t really say or remember who really frightened me. All I can say: The Undertaker is my favorite Gimmick and Wrestler of all Time.
Sorry Adam, but I'm sure that Kamala The Ugandan Giant was billed as being from, well, Uganda. The fella from 'Deepest Darkest Africa' was one half of the tag team that we should never forget.
I really miss the pre-adulting days of little to no responsibility when I was quite impressionable for many of these gimmicks. Although they don't work for today's audiences, I long for those vignette's that set up and furthered the stories of many of these WWF Superstars. We were ready obviously, but I wish the curtain did not have to be pulled back on it all.
*Some wrestlers could scare but Kane & The undertaker took it to a different level for me growing up during the attitude era. Especially since the entrances were dark & I'd watch in the dark* 😭 😂
I first started watching in early 2006 when I was 10, so boogeyman and seeing the hardcore crap Abyss did terrified me, Kane and Umaga but loved Taker though....also seeing Abdullah with his fork and forehead make me feel sick to the stomach, terrified me
Woah. Hold up. Wrestlemania 3 was at the Pontiac Silverdome, and its said that the attendance was 97,000. That place couldnt hold 150,000 Plus, its pretty accepted that the 97k figure was inflated. For certain, it never held 150,000 people.
Kane was absolutely frightening to me when I was young, pure nightmare fuel even after his mask was off with his bald years. Looking at him now it seems ridiculous but damn wasn't he scary years ago 😂😂 also funny enough snitsky gave me the creeps but that was because he looked like one of the baddies in the disney hercules movie they were so creepy. 😂
I started watching wrestling in 2008. So, Boogeyman, Kane, Abyss and Undertaker were the wrestlers who scared me, as a kid.
The Boogeyman was underrated 🤔
Kane horrified me more than Undertaker did. The lighting, the music, the fire, yet i still loved to watch him wrestle
The fact that he had that movie where he plucked people's eyes out too didn't help lol
Undertaker scared me more as a kid the caskets and the buried alive matches scare me to this day even
Kane both scared me, and was my favorite wrestler at the same time. Even after his unmasking and he was chained up for a few months
Same
Same with Undertaker and Bray Wyatt
I remember as a kid having vivid nightmares of being forced to wrestle Kane
Glad I'm not alone on that one 🤣
did you take a chokeslam lol
@@gbarrows04 undertaker definitely scared me. Kane never did because I had a teacher in elementary School that reminded me of him lol
@@gbarrows04 he was cool lol
Was Teddy Long in your dream too? 😆

Bruh, you're a legend.

@@westnile21 ironically I've played that game and now you come to mention it I die pretty much the same way in that too lol
Brooo this just reminded me of a dream I had of me wrestling Kane and Jeff Hardy came out to help me beat him 😂
I used to wake up drenched in sweat and relieved after dreaming about Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keibler choking and slamming me.
"That's gotta be Kane!"
By gawd that's gotta be Kane
@@ratedrva757 And he has broken Taker smack-dab in HALF!
Hands down who here thinks Kane and Mankind was WWE's greatest Heel masked men/monster Archetype wrestlers?
4:23 Doink brah, you're making kids cry, brah
Osw
Crush brah
I've been watching wrestling since i was 3. Im 31 now. I love UA-cam videos like this. Brings back so many memories. Thank you for this
Whoever chose the red smoke effect for the transition screen, great choice, looks great, wonderful editing all the way around
Seriously Jake Roberts the reason I quit watching rattling in the early 90s until about 1998
I remember Kane used to terrify me. Everytime he came out I would run behind my dads recliner
I grew up watching wrestling in the mid-2000s and early 2010s, and I remember being very scared of Kharma
Mask-less Kane still scared me at 14
When Kane was unmasked I was so terrified to the point where red fireworks made me shake which wasn't easy because for independence day in my country as well as Christmas red fireworks were a staple
@@MegaNomad27 aww feels bad man
Didn't scare voters in TN for some reason.
Interesting. The four wrestlers that had scared me when I was a child was the Great Kabuki, Bruiser Brody, Abdullah the Butcher and Andre the Giant.
Kane, Take, and Mankind scared me as a kid; then I grew up and found out how wonderful Glenn, Mark and Mick are 🤷🏻♀️
Mankind is the wrestling version of leatherface.
Uhhh, Chainsaw Charlie anyone...?
Taker is Mike
Kane is Jason
Boogeyman is Freddy
Fiend is Penny
I was 12 when I saw the Waylon Mercy picnic vignette and I was absolutely convinced somebody was going to die next week. I couldn't believe it was going to happen on TV.

Most of us weren't even wise to the fact wrestling is a work back then. Made people like Shango all the more terrifying.
@@MikeyMUnited Exactly! I saw Taker at a house show when I was young not long after he debuted and wow he scared me at that show.

That kid's face when Papa Shango debuted . . . . .
Papa Shango was the one who scared me the most. I still get chills when I hear his theme song lol
Yokozuna was pretty damn intimidating back in the day.

Wow, you guys are older than I thought. I'm 24 and the scariest wrestler in my childhood was Umaga.
Umaga was frightening in a more unpredictable way than a creepy way to me. Always thought the samoan spike was a horrible finisher to take too.
@@marybonner7432 it is, imagine getting a giant thumb poked straight to your throat

Mankind in ‘96 cut a promo that scared me so bad as a kid I cried🤷🏾♀️
I don’t think you needed ‘as kids’ in the title for some of these entries
Survivor Series 1990 was actually the 2nd PPV i ever saw, and boy can i tell you, i was absolutely terrified by Taker.
I was never scared by any of these I always thought super natural characters like Taker and Kane were super cool
Kane gave me countless sleepless nights.
Undertakers ministry theme terrified me as a kid, especially when I played the first smack down on the PlayStation.
Also Viscerra really scared
Kane made me sooo uneasy as a child. I thought he was cool but he still scared me a bit. My mom got me one of those cheap plastic Kane masks at the very first WWF show I had attended. I was obsessed with Jason and Michael Myers too so it explains a lot.

for some reason i found mini mankind from that mini royal rumble more frighting than actual mankind
Mankind pulling his hair out scared me as a kid.... now I’m bald.
it's not everyday that you get to see Pennywise, Doink the clown and Ronald McDonald all together
So Alexa Bliss is today's Papa Shango with the black ooze and voodoo magic. Maybe they should do a storyline connection of those two ,😂
Jake never scared me as a kid if anything i was fascinated by him
I was scared asf of goldust to the point I couldn’t face him in matches on the game😱😰🤦🏾

The Boogeyman fucking terrified me when i was like 6.

When me and my friends used to talk wrestling in kindergarten back in 09 we all agreed that Kane was the scariest and best wrestler ever, good times.

My grandmother and father were wrestling fans back in the day and they were downright terrified of Jake Roberts

The Broods theme song was scary enough for me growing up.
for me: Viscera(ministry of darkness) gimmick scared me as a kid
also, how can nobody be afraid of the Boogeyman?
Agrees
I was terrified of goldust. His music used to freak me out. Now i know he was doing his job!
That image of Randy Savage getting bit by the snake is why I am afraid of them. Forever scarred
Kane was more terrifying than The Undertaker.
Bob backlund in 1994, putting the crossface chicken wing on everyone. Scared the shit out of me as a kid
My soul hurts that Regular legs said Freddy and Myers, comparing them to 90s Kane and not Jason. I big sad
I never got scared of any of any of these people mostly because I was too small to realise what bad things are.
When I was little kid it took a lot to scare me since I've been watching horror movies since I was 3 years old.

You forgot The Iron Sheik. I was on an airplane as a child and The Iron Sheik was on it. With his flag, boots, and all. I was so scared.
I feel like Jake the Snake's promo style is a lot like Samoa Joe's. They're both silently menacing.
You left out Gangrel. Those blood baths terrified me as a child.
As a kid who started watching wrestling in 2005....Boogeyman was the stuff of my nightmares....Until he somehow became my favorite.
jake roberts was cold and seemed very real, but i never thought of him as being scary.
Honorable mention, even though not from WWE. Chuck Taylor. If you know, you know.
Mankind should have been higher on this list, at least third and Bogeyman and the Fiend should have at least made an appearance. :)

On late 90 Kane was Fuel for my nightmares...
Papa Shango was absolutely terrifying
I had nightmares about King Kong Bundy trying to squash me after WM 3.
I never saw Kane as scary,I just thought he is a bad ass

I was genuinely frightened by Nailz as a kid.
Shocked I didn't see Gangrel in here. Guy always creeped me out
Papa shange scared the crap outta me when he made the ultimate warrior puke green

The Undertaker used to scare me the ever loving piss out of me. Little six year old me hated the way he would roll his eyes back into head
