Your mic looks good! However you didn't show us anything about how you set it up. Cables used? Foot or hand switch? Heil brand switch, another brand - or did you use VOX? You plugged the mic into the radio using what Yaesu adapters? You did say you were using the EQ settings inside the FTDX 1200 and not a separate mixer. Love the radio, but am looking for a killer setup for a boom mount mic. Thanks!! KE0AOS Dana
He said he used the Mic into a W2IHY Technologies Equalizer then the FTDX1200. He didn't give any settings, just kept them as he had them for other Heil Mics.
if you put that cover over the mic you are just going to make the mic sound dull and muffled sound like putting a sock in your mouth the mic is designed to release pressure from the capsule thats why it has side slots the only why you will over power the mic is by getting really close to the mic and shouting in to it which you no is a very bad thing to do all you will do is go in to IMD and over ALC too you will all so put highs frequencies in your voice just speak at a normal level and you will be fine a good all round mic is a RE- 20 or a RE- 320 is a very good buy for the price and there is a RE- 27ND if you dont no any thing about them then check them all out good luck and all the best

Love the HEIL but not the YAESU. Did you know that YAESU =Yet Another Excuse Simply Useless? Worst transceivers I have ever owned or used hands down.
