2012 draft is tragic. Andrew Luck's early retirement, RG3's electric rookie year ending in irreparable catastrophe, Russell Wilson currently playing himself out of the HOF, and Brandon Weeden. Luck deserved better and the Colts had noone else to blame but themselves. I wish this would have been a lesson to other franchises to invest heavily in protecting your young star QB as early as possible however, Burrow's and Tua's careers may have already been shortened at this point. Bad teams gonna shoot themselves in the foot forever it seems.
Look at the Colts draft picks the next three years after selecting Andrew Luck: 2013: Bjorn Werner, Hugo Thornton, Khaled Holmes, Montori Hughes, John Boyett, Kerwynn Williams, Justice Cunningham (FYI, could have picked 5 time pro bowl center Travis Frederick instead of Werner) 2014: Jack Mewhort, Donte Moncrief, Jonathan Newsome, Andrew Jackson (how is drafting a former president that's been dead for 175 years smart? - sorry, couldn't help it), Ulrick John (FYI, they traded their first found pick in this draft for Trent Richardson - really - and if they kept that pick could have selected 3 time pro bowl tackle Joel Bitonio) 2015: Phillip Dorsett, D'Joun Smith, Henry Anderson, Clayton Geathers, David Parry, John Robinson, Amarlo Herrera, Denzelle Good What's incredible about all these picks is that only one player (Geathers) lasted more than 4 season on the Colts and there were zero pro bowlers. I mentioned offensive lineman the Colts could have selected (a gigantic weakness for the Colts Luck's first couple years in the league), but here's who else the Colts could have selected (within 5 picks after their selection): Xavier Rhodes, DeAndre Hopkins, Jarvis Landry, Trai Turner, Landon Collins, and Tyler Lockett. The Colts drafted one of the most highly touted quarterback prospects ever and then proceeded to light three consecutive drafts on fire. In Barry's Drew Brees video, he talks about how incredible the Saints 2006 draft was the year they signed Brees. This is huge for any quarterback. It's a team sport and for most of Andrew Luck's career, the Colts strategy was "Bail us out, Andrew Luck." Great video.
This is some great analysis right here. Luck was constantly getting obliterated whenever he dropped back for a pass. That Trent Richardson trade is an absolute headscratcher to this day.

Imagine if Indi never fired Jim Caldwell, I'm positive they could have gone to the super bowl again if they kept him playing with Luck. It's a damn shame the new coach was worse and held back Luck from living up to Peyton Mannings legacy.
I doubt Caldwell would have fared much better with Luck than he did in Detroit. Caldwell inherited a Colts team in 2009 that was already a Super Bowl contender and Manning was in his prime. Caldwell's success in Indy was largely because of Manning. Once he went down, the Colts were a legit 2-14 team, not one that was tanking. Caldwell went on to Detroit and inherited another team built to win and they went 0-2 in the playoffs. Caldwell's best coaching is working individually with QB's. He turned Flacco into a Super Bowl winner as Baltimore's quarterbacks coach. But he's just not a head coach and he wouldn't have taken a demotion in Indianapolis. Indy made the right decision to move on from him.
@@duff007 Dan Orlovsky was involved in 2011 for the Colts, and considering he was largely unsuccessful in Detroit it's a miracle Caldwell got at least 2 wins with a QB like him.

Grigson and Pagano couldn't put aside their differences to get Luck adequate blocking and scheme to keep him protected. Irsay was complicit by glossing over Luck's overall health. I don't blame Andrew one bit for retiring.
I'm gonna open myself up for mockery. With proper support, Luck could've been better than Brady and Peyton. He was simply that much better of an arm. The only person I've seen more comfortable throwing the ball deep is maybe prime Aaron Rodgers. I'm a casual football watcher, but looking at the throws he was making back at Stanford, Luck was one of those players you could tell was HOF caliber just from watching film. Also Lamar Jackson is overrated, once his legs are shot, his career is over. An arm like Luck's could've played well into his 40s if his coaches and o-line didn't try to give him brain damage every play.
I used to talk hella shit bout him calling andrew unluck but he was one tough son of gun and definitely didn't deserve to get bood when he left the game
John Riggins summed it up years ago when he talked about his days on the Jets and getting a bonus for having 900 rushing yards and the owner told him it would have been more had he gotten 1000 yards. "That was the moment I realized the NFL is a business and nothing more."
I honestly don't want to watch this just because I know you're going to talk about that 28 point comeback win over my Chiefs. That game still gives me nightmares 😔
I had the pleasure of being there man I've never experienced such an atmosphere that insane. I've also never experienced such a horrible hopeless energy that lasted the whole first 3 quarters of the game while y'all were whooping us lol
It really stinks that his career was plagued with injuries and that his offensive line was garbage until frank reich became coach. The season after he quit the colts had one of the best O lines in the league but throughout his career they could not protect him.
This is coming from a jags fan. It is an absolute shame he retired (although understandably). The NFL would’ve been a much better league if he was in a position to continue playing
With what the colts roster is now with Jonathan Taylor and Darius Leonard I have no doubt that Andrew luck would’ve won a Super Bowl with them. However if luck stayed who knows what the colts roster would look like. I do think Andrew luck could’ve carved out a career similar to Russell Wilson, where he’s a consistent top 10 QB in the league
The Colts ruined Luck. I totally called it in 2012. He would have had a hall of fame career if the Broncos had traded Tebow before the start of 2011 and tanked that season for Luck.
That would be a very interesting what if because if that happens then Cam falls to 2 where Denver most likely takes him seeing as they didnt have Manning yet and Tebow sucked. It would have shook up that whole 2011 draft which was stacked as hell just look at the names. So what would have happened to Manning where would he have ended up?

What I learned from this video is that in addition to Luck not having an O line for most of his career, the Colts defense was a massive letdown.
Look at the Colts draft picks the next three years after selecting Andrew Luck:
2013: Bjorn Werner, Hugo Thornton, Khaled Holmes, Montori Hughes, John Boyett, Kerwynn Williams, Justice Cunningham (FYI, could have picked 5 time pro bowl center Travis Frederick instead of Werner)
2014: Jack Mewhort, Donte Moncrief, Jonathan Newsome, Andrew Jackson (how is drafting a former president that's been dead for 175 years smart? - sorry, couldn't help it), Ulrick John (FYI, they traded their first found pick in this draft for Trent Richardson - really - and if they kept that pick could have selected 3 time pro bowl tackle Joel Bitonio)

What's incredible about all these picks is that only one player (Geathers) lasted more than 4 season on the Colts and there were zero pro bowlers. This is just tom Brady if he was actually good in Barry's opinion
Keep em coming
Out of the 6 seasons he played he was a Pro Bowler 4 times, that's impressive, if only his O line was dogshit
Imagine the Colts actually gave this man an O-line
If only Luck knew how to inspire his defenses to play better or lead his receivers to more after the catch yards like Brady.
Nobody's mocking you, because you're right.
He knows
Peyton at least had offensive help Luck didn’t have much and both of their defenses weren’t that great with Peyton having a better defense as well
Cant wait for one of these focusing on rivers
4:29 Damn Drew Brees and Andrew Luck really had some big NFC south division showdowns, those were the days man 😂
I used to talk hella shit bout him calling andrew unluck but he was one tough son of gun and definitely didn't deserve to get bood when he left the game
We don’t respect colts fans for that, sadly, but most fanbases have done comparable stuff
Suggesting the Colts tanked for Luck is an absolute fallacy. They tried, they just sucked because they couldn't function without Peyton.
@@vulcanraven9701 so you paid no attention to that season and made an assumption just by looking at the box score and final record. Got it
It's a legit theory, affectionately known as "suck for Luck."
John Riggins summed it up years ago when he talked about his days on the Jets and getting a bonus for having 900 rushing yards and the owner told him it would have been more had he gotten 1000 yards. "That was the moment I realized the NFL is a business and nothing more."
I will always respect frank for going for it in that Texans overtime game even if we lost
Fr they're just gonna drive down the field anyway. Nowdays possesion is more important than field position really
Do A-rod next
I honestly don't want to watch this just because I know you're going to talk about that 28 point comeback win over my Chiefs. That game still gives me nightmares 😔
I had the pleasure of being there man I've never experienced such an atmosphere that insane. I've also never experienced such a horrible hopeless energy that lasted the whole first 3 quarters of the game while y'all were whooping us lol
I would like to see one on either Alex Smith or Philip Rivers
It really stinks that his career was plagued with injuries and that his offensive line was garbage until frank reich became coach. The season after he quit the colts had one of the best O lines in the league but throughout his career they could not protect him.
Great video.
This is coming from a jags fan. It is an absolute shame he retired (although understandably). The NFL would’ve been a much better league if he was in a position to continue playing
Agreed. I'd have loved to see Luck vs Trevor
Barry’s hatred for brady makes me subscribe
Not the sky high reference
With what the colts roster is now with Jonathan Taylor and Darius Leonard I have no doubt that Andrew luck would’ve won a Super Bowl with them. However if luck stayed who knows what the colts roster would look like. I do think Andrew luck could’ve carved out a career similar to Russell Wilson, where he’s a consistent top 10 QB in the league
Probably your best video yet lol
This video is a tough scene, coming from a diehard Colts fan
damn you really needed to go in on my guy Rodgers at the end there huh...
He wasn’t Peyton Manning but just handling the pressure of replacing him and playing well was a testament to his mental fortitude and maturity
As a Jags fan, I can't even hate the guy. Too likable and talented
@19:10 as of 2021, Aaron Rodgers has a book club 😂😂
Why do I have a feeling Trevor Lawerance's career will play out the same way?
He is cuuuursed
You’re on a content super-spree my dude
Just wait until Andrew luck comes out of retirement and goes to the Broncos he’s getting atleast one super ring
The Colts ruined Luck. I totally called it in 2012. He would have had a hall of fame career if the Broncos had traded Tebow before the start of 2011 and tanked that season for Luck.
Luck my all time favorite player
Luck ran the ball like he had a Madden hit stick for a heart
If only Andrew Luck could have played defense as good as Tom Brady did, he would have won more games !!!!
I love the “No offense” jokes
The Rodgers joke lmfaoo, fair enough Barry
My fav qb oat
Favre next please
its harsh to say that Luck quit on the Colts, but with all of the injuries he had suffered i think we all would have quit.
what's the name of the instrumental you used in the video. It sounds really cool
Great video, maybe Eli Manning video next?
As a colts fan I suffer ptsd hearing any mention of Andrew luck
What if Luck declared for the draft the year before? He probably would've gotten drafted by Carolina
@@firstorder438 what team back then was only a QB away from being put over the top? I don’t remember, maybe The Cardinals?
@@Briggie A couple teams pop out to me at that Point the Chiefs being the obvious choice in 2010 they where on top of their division but held back by Cassel. Problem would have been the Chiefs coach at the time was Todd Haley rofl and he was soon fired and replaced with Romeo Crennel double ROFL.
@@Briggie The dream team though IMO would have been the Eagles for Luck, Reed was still coaching and they had a hell of a team. Yeah they had Vick and he was good for a season and a half but Luck on that Eagles team would have been magic.
@@firstorder438 And that means Von would probably end up being selected by Buffalo if Denver took Cam
