  • Two weeks ago, the Karnataka Cabinet passed a labour legislation that effectively reserved 50% of jobs in managerial positions and 70% in non-managerial positions for local candidates in private firms. The controversial bill was severely criticised by businesses for being heavy-handed, forcing the government to stop the legislation temporarily.
State Employment of Local Candidates in the Industries, Factories and Other Establishments Bill, 2024 government shelved a labour reservation bill. But what does this piece of legislation say about India's job?

Karnataka public funds are invested for thr own people. What is wrong in this? If you invest in company, will u not get shares in return? Evry year over 2.5 lakhs BCom grads pass out but yet other states people are found in admin jobs in Banks, companies, etc!! How?? This is not Nuclear science but just small jobs. Look at trains arriving from North, North East & even South India, are all fully loaded. Coming so so called locals lacking "skills", people from Kerala, AP, TN & most from North India join Engineering, MBA, Nursing, Medical, Pharma, etc colleges in our state by paying huge donations & lack merit. Now how can they become"skilled" over meritorious Karnataka people??

UP, Bihar has large populations that are skilled and semi skilled. However, coz of decreased economic activity, the pay is horrible. Absorbing those workers by South states disincentivizes those governments from doing the needful, and finds time to fo unnecessary things like bulldozer, harassment and cronyism. 😊 Bills like these could be the nudge they need 😂😂
