I really hope max goes through the KH secret bosses from all the games. Because they are soo good and make you realise how good the combat is and would make for such a fun BOSS RAGE! Video
Maybe do that when he is actually playingt hrough the game and not someone giving him a completed save file. That way, his rage will actually be justified from the difficulty of the boss rather than him struggling with controls.
Said it numerous times that he has no interest in going to them. His objective was solely the Sephiroth boss fights as those were the ones he actually cared about
Fun fact: This fight is what taught me about boss patterns. I couldn't beat him forever, and then I figured out his tells and saw all his different techniques, and was able to beat him pretty easily after that. Didn't fight him on Proud Mode (fought him in OG KH on the PS2, so that wasn't a thing yet), but still. He's tough until you figure him out, and then he's not too bad. But yeah, weird call on choosing to just fight Sephiroth without playing any of the rest of the game. Like, I get it, it's a big stupid game that takes a while to get to the point where you can fight him at all, but he's the biggest challenge in this game. Not even knowing the basic controls and choosing to fight him is wild. 7:10 Yeah, it is a game from 2002, so camera's gonna be trash. But the lock-on is actually really good; it only sucks in that fight because Sephiroth teleports all over the place, and the lock-on disappears whenever he does. 8:35 Max, haven't you figured it out by now? Cheap shit is all Sephiroth has. He's made of garbage. 11:10 Can. We. Get. This. Costume. In. Smash. PLEASE. 13:05 Again, never fought Proud Sephiroth, but I never used Rave in that fight iirc. It's all about knowing when to dodge and what he's about to do, and going in for hits at the best times. There are other strategies to win, maybe not as optimal as spamming Rave, but they do exist.
Just wanted to say I wanted this costume for him and Cloud's KH costume in Smash as soon as Sora was announced. But Sakurai for some reason still thinks only Mii's are only worth giving costumes when honestly no one gives a shit about Mii's.
@@ChrisMS0815 I know. With Sora coming in, it would've been the best time to change one of Cloud's alt costumes. But Square Enix doesn't like to acknowledge that they gave him the coolest costume of his entire existence in KH1, maybe because it's kind of a fusion of his and Vincent's looks? But even if that's the reason, who cares? It looks awesome.
This bring back painful memories of getting my ass kicked for hours and hours after beating KH and grinding just to get strong enough to beat Sephiroth.
KH2 Sephiroth isn’t easier, KH2 Sora is just INCREDIBLY more strong and the gameplay is WAY more smooth/fluid. Limit Form almost breaks the game because of how much of a god send it is, so much so that one of the limits even heals you while doing amazing damage, and Zantetsuken (which is linked to just mashing X) literally does more than an entire health bar. Saying KH2 Sephiroth is easier than KH1 is like saying the Data Battles in KH3 are easier than KH2: they’re not, the gameplay has literally just been optimized to its max potential and the player’s character are stronger (Shocklocks and the addition of Situation Commands/Keyblade Forms that are a natural progression from the previous systems). You know its true when you’ll still be knocked on your ass if you have no idea what you’re doing
I'm trying to remember, but doesn't it take a while to unlock the ability to dodge roll in KH2? The mechanics of these games have always seemed strange after playing other action games
I think kh1 hasn't aged well. I played them all for the first time 2 years ago and honestly wanted to skip 1 at times and go right to 2. Its prime ps2 clunk and while good is not beginning friendly
This was one of my favorite bosses in all of gaming. From the very concept of fighting an RPG icon in real-time (for the first time), to the new one wing design, the shock about his off-the-charts HP, the cheapness of Heartless Angel, the gradual expansion of his moveset, and the feeling of that last green HP bar finally appearing. KH1 had some clunky combat but this fight was perfectly balanced for its jank, and I wish later KH games designed bosses half as well as Sephiroth.
KH1 is "harder" due to the worse camera control and overall mechanics. KH2 is "easier" due to it's overall more polished gameplay. It's kind of superficial
Original non-FM KH1 is even harder due to some abilities not being introduced and Limits not being a single △ press away... Also a one minute cutscene every time you do an attempt.
I love watching him get progressively used to some of the subtle mechanics like the leaf bracer invincibility and picking up on how long it lasts to take full advantage of it. And progressively stop the heartless angel bullshit move

I like that some people are mad at Max going in Blind and raging while it's the ENTIRE point of this challenge. To learn the game on the fly and try to beat something so incredibly hard with mechanics you don't even know existed. It's the whole appeal of the fight. I would watch someone with no fighting game knowledge try their hardest to beat God Rugal on CVS2.
That just gives that person an incredibly stilted and negative impression of the game. It may be the point of the boss rage but I am not a fan of Max bashing a game for mechanics that he would have learned had he actually played the game first and then tried the boss. Sephiroth would still be very hard and his rage would be lot of directed at the difficulty of the fight rather than just bashing the game.
@@goldmemberpb He's not bashing the game. Being frustrated in the moment and actively bashing it are a completely different thing. He prefaced the fight by saying that he doesn't know anything about the battle mechanic or how the game plays so all the things he said should be viewed from that perspective, a Blind player. Even if he learn the mechanic that doesn't guarantee that he won't still talk shit during the fight. A person can learn and practice all the mechanic of a bullet hell game they like and still bash it as a bad game after the 100th retry. That doesn't mean they hated the game. It just means that despite the frustration that the game gives, they still take the challenge as something that is worth suffering through.
@@hafizhaekal1352 Max has a habit of blaming a game when he lacks knowledge of how to play the game. Watch his RE8 playthrough: never played the game, jumps into the highest difficulty, and then doesn't listen to obvious dialogue hints and the situation and dies a bunch before progressing the game. Complains about it numerous times later throughout the game, instead of accepting his mistakes he made and realizing that jumping into a game you've never played on the hardest setting it probably not the smartest thing.
@@ForsakenMemories45 That section in RE8 is the only time the difficulty spiked hard and for the rest of the game Max is actually enjoying the difficulty. I've seen other streamer having the same problem with it so it's more than "Max blaming the game". Heartless Angel CAN be interrupted, you have to hit him BEFORE he finishes saying "Descend, Heartless Angel!". Otherwise, you have to throw an Elixir as soon as the heart appears.

And then, there's that mess on Twitter like, Max has already stated clearly his intentions that he only wanted to fight Sephiroth and he's going in blind. Him raging during the fight IS what the Boss Rage series is all about. For someone who doesn't play KH, he learned the mechanics in the span of a couple of hours as opposed to days or weeks and that itself is pretty impressive.
@@daedaegaming7812 i still think the combat of kh1 is very underrated. 2 is alot more fun, due to the forms and interacts, sure, but i remember enjoying the more gritty and counter heavy aspect of 1 far more. to the point i dont think i actually needed to block that much in 2, but it was vital for me in 1. also, alot of stuff can be parried with attacks, making them far more engaging. the fact you also gains exp by parries and counters was a great feeling as well.

I'm not one to watch Twitch, but for the KH2 Sephiroth boss fight, something told me to watch it and boy... In a nutshell, Max going into that boss while at Lvl 1 on CRITICAL MODE and having zero clue on how the game works mechanically was such a massive face palm moment. Of course the fight is going to be way more difficult than intended, even though I remember that fight being one of the easiest ones in the game when you're at the right level and have the right abilities required for the fight.
Never thought I see Max play a KH game. He should play the data battles and Sephiroth fight of KH2FM and then KH3 data battles. That will be extremely entertaining to watch.😏
Bro I remember doing this. You need a perfect timing for everything of this fight ESPECIALLY ON PROUD mode. It was one of my greatest gaming achievement. Best him at lvl 60
Rule number 1 for fighting KH1 sephiroth, mp is ONLY for curaga. Aeroga isn't worth the mp cost, and i-frames are unnecessary and the combos can leave you extremely vulnerable. They can certainly do damage, but they are risky. Rule number 2, jump is your best friend. You can jump over his sword attack very easily because he never swings vertically. The only damage you should even take is from special moves, the sword shouldn't touch you (at least in the original, I never played final mix so idk what changes they made). Seriously, people way overhype how hard this fight is. KH2 sephiroth is only "easier" because reflect magic is OP as heck. I find that if you fight him without using reflect KH2 is the harder fight (again, speaking of the PS2 version, not final mix).
i dunno if youre in the same boat as me but i first played kh1 as a kid. Breezed through it when i played the final mix remasters even on critical. As max learned KH1 sonic blade has invulnerability out the ass.
On the bright side, once you git gud at fighting Sephiroth, there's nothing else KH1 can throw at you that'll trip you up 'cause your eyes will be forever glued to the screen as you wait for enemies' visual cues

@@DiegoCyberGamer True, I have seen people do a level 1 run. Though, it's been so long I can't really remember too much about the game. Especially considering I played the original back in 2002 and Final Mix is the current version which I still haven't played. Does Sephiroth scale to your level? I know that characters like Cloud and Squall do. Reason I'm asking is because, when speedrunners do a level 1 run, it's usually for that very reason. I still remember that day, when I was playing Kingdom Hearts for the first time, and I eventually got to this point. I was chilling in the Hercules world, until I saw ?????? as one of the options. Curiously, I click it (mind you I had NO idea that Sephiroth was a boss in this game).
He will not because those bosses aren't Sephiroth according to him.
He said he will play KH off screen sometime later into the future... WAY future...
Lingering Will Boss Rage may be the first 10/10 Boss Rage in a while lol
Oh yes ×s1000k That would be an amazingly perfect addition to the boss rage series 😁💘👌👍💪💪💪
It was riku boss fight for me
Just wanted to say I wanted this costume for him and Cloud's KH costume in Smash as soon as Sora was announced. But Sakurai for some reason still thinks only Mii's are only worth giving costumes when honestly no one gives a shit about Mii's.
@@stealthmaster6472 Oh yeah, fuck that fight. Kids today with that "Skip Cutscene" button don't know how good they have it for that bullshit.

@@VoltronKnight Lv 1 critical I believe is the hardest difficulty for KH2FM. I guess the same reason he played KHFM on proud to get the best challenge
Poor Max! You haven’t played the last hidden boss! You got this.
But regardless, Sephiroth in KH1 is no joke. Damn Lance Bass.
Comments during the stream: UGH MAX YOU HAVENT PLAYED KH FOR 15 YEARS DON'T SAY THE MECHANICS ARE BAD WHEN YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THEM
Me: *sips tea*
no KH1 is very bad Gameplay wise, even ReCoded feels better, while Re Chain of Memories takes everything bad from 1 and adds cards on top
Literally everyone who gave up on KH after KH2 can stfu when they say KH1 was so good.
@@sdbzfan1 How? kh1 has the best gameplay in the series and this is coming from somebody that beat all of them
This was one of my favorite bosses in all of gaming.
Remind is hardest in the series imo
@@TheSeaBase Well, you aren't wrong
I've literally never had a problem with the lock on personally.
Original non-FM KH1 is even harder due to some abilities not being introduced and Limits not being a single △ press away... Also a one minute cutscene every time you do an attempt.
i dont think the combat of 1 is "worse", it is more grounded, so timing things are far more important.
I love watching him get progressively used to some of the subtle mechanics like the leaf bracer invincibility and picking up on how long it lasts to take full advantage of it. And progressively stop the heartless angel bullshit move
I find it kinda cute that Max calls successful blocks “parries”, even in Kingdom Hearts lol
I mean, it is a parrying mechanic usually, but Sephiroth never staggers from it!
Not many people really call it a parry though. Blocking or teching, yes.
He doesn't even have the actual "parry" move that let's you spam attack after blocking to do constant counter swings
Connotation is that a block can be held while a parry is a trigger and more rewarding because of its difficulty in execution.
Blocking IS parrying in KH though since you have to time it unlike other games where you can hold block.
Oh, Jesus, I was rolling. Now I kinda wanna see a playthrough.
Holy tits the nostalgia. I was teary eyed the whole vid

It's actually Lance Bass in this game! One of the singers from N-Sync! The voiceline is from II. I thought Sephiroth was still voiced by Newbern.
@@mann-nova9392 end of the video, it's George Newbern. Watch till the very end, it's clips from Kingdom Hearts II teasing the next video" to be continued".
He tried mercenaries mode after he finished RE8 and comments how easy it is compared to what he plays and ultimately he was glad that he was able to experience it on the difficulty he choose. Of course jumping into the game blind on the hardest setting may yield to some frustration but i can guarantee that he get more satisfaction from beating Sephy LV. 1 Blind than playing Kingdom Hearts 2 normally.

Him raging during the fight IS what the Boss Rage series is all about. For someone who doesn't play KH, he learned the mechanics in the span of a couple of hours as opposed to days or weeks and that itself is pretty impressive.
From what i saw from the boss rage the combos seemed easy once you get whacked around by him a couple times
@@daedaegaming7812 i still think the combat of kh1 is very underrated. 2 is alot more fun, due to the forms and interacts, sure, but i remember enjoying the more gritty and counter heavy aspect of 1 far more. to the point i dont think i actually needed to block that much in 2, but it was vital for me in 1.
also, alot of stuff can be parried with attacks, making them far more engaging. the fact you also gains exp by parries and counters was a great feeling as well.
only thing i saw on twitter was someone giving their opinion on how they felt about the boss rage. and folks blew it way out of proportion and pretended the entirety of the fanbase was unreasonable, rather than it just being a few rotten apples.

Rule 1: Strike Raid

I know that characters like Cloud and Squall do.
Reason I'm asking is because, when speedrunners do a level 1 run, it's usually for that very reason. Higher your level, the higher the enemy HP, so killing them requires more time, which is bad, obviously, cus speedrun 😅
