    I rarely comment on videos but I must tell you, your videos are among my very favorites. You never belabor your remarks and I appreciate not having to watch an hour long video to get the same information that could be given in a much shorter time. Thank you for being so generous in sharing all your knowledge.

    One suggestion; use your ring mandrel or ring bender to put a slight curve in your top statement coil, this will keep it from rocking or catching! I love this ring.

    You are a good teacher and you’re obviously very competent at making jewelry. I wanted so much to get into your video because I’m interested in making rings like this, but you made it in such a way that there was no focal point. At the beginning I wasn’t sure really what the ring looked like. You never stopped and showed us the detail of the construction of the finished ring. Nor did you show us at the end. The finished ring itself was barely featured. I’m not sure how much I like the ring because I didn’t get a good look at it in the passing glimpses. Sure, I tried stopping the video, enlarging the ring but they were such brief glimpses that you only got one perspective. I respectfully suggest that at the beginning you show the ring I.e. turn it around...show the back...the sides etc. That’s just a suggestion but I think it will make a difference to viewers like me.

    I like that there's no jabbering about unrelated topics. In just a few minutes I'm able to learn a new project to try and a new technique.
    In this video you use a Wrap and Tap that is larger than the one I'm founding. Has this specific tool been discontinued? The largest I'm able to find is 20 mm being the largest loop.

    I love your videos everything is so concise and I think you have amazing designs and teach really hellfire wire working techniques! I have a few questions and a couple suggestions. Can you please tell us the hardness of the wires and what shape you use? Also can you please show more close up shots and shots of the finished product? It’s hard to see the details. Also, can gold filled wire be used for this? I know plated wires can chip but how does gold filled hold up? Lastly can you list links for the supplies such as the mandrels and bail pliers and other tools?

      Amanda,
      Thank you for your comments! Check out our newer videos over the past year. We believe we have taken care of some of the viewing issues you're having with better closeups and backgrounds that make it easier to see the jewelry-making process. As for wire, this is a great suggestions and we are currently working on a Pro Tips video that will talk about all the different types of wire and their hardness and what's best to use for different typos of projects.
      We don't currently have a ring mandrel in stock as it sold out very quick, but you might be able to do a quick google search and find one.
      As for the other tools, here are some links:

    Susan, I love all of your tutorials. I have learned so much. Is 14 gauge sterling silver good to use instead of 16 gauge? Round or half round? Thanks!

    • @JewelSchool
      @JewelSchool  4 роки тому +4

      Hi Carmen, depending on the look you want, round and half round can both work. And as far as gauge goes, it just depends on how pliable you want your wire to be. The thicker the wire, the more difficult to manipulate but you should give it a go and see what you think!

    Hello nice class. Where can I find the wrap and tap tool?

  • @SMoss-yp3yx
    @SMoss-yp3yx 3 роки тому

    Hi Susan! I'm new to jewelry making and love your videos! I want to try making my first ring but all mandrels I'm finding have a flat spot on them where the measurements are...best I can tell your mandrel is completely round with the measurements stamped on it...where did you purchase yours? Thanks for all the great videos!

    • @JewelSchool
      @JewelSchool  3 роки тому

      Hey Susan! The groove that runs the length of the mandrel is actually going to be much better than you think. This groove is designed to help hold your bead in place while you wrap your wire. Some older mandrels don't have it (like the one Susan is using), but have since been redesigned to include it. If you're still worried about it, don't be. The other side of the mandrel doesn't have the groove and will be a versatile working surface as well. It won't hinder or change your design as far as size at all. Hope this helps and good luck!

      Hi Rob! You weave the smaller gauge wire around the spiral ring to keep everything in place. When you're happy, use your pliers to pinch into place and keep any rough or sharp spots from rubbing against the finger.
