(Jeremy) Hey everyone! For this episode, we decided to reach out to other Magic content creators to get their suggestions on what we should play. We're very grateful to Josh Lee Kwai of the Command Zone Podcast, The Professor at Tolarian Community College, the guys at Commanderin' Podcast, and Blake Rasmussen at DailyMTG for submitting decklists for us to use. Make sure to check out their work in the links in the description!
Star City Games I'd love to see Stephan play an upgraded Kynaios and Tiro deck, that focuses on hugs and saving other players, so he can rack up points and try to save the season
Keep in mind that you (Jeremy) will /not/ lose points for Tempt with Discover at 17:45. Tempt with Discovery is actually a different search, per card. It resolves as: Search. Shuffle. Then the Tempting Offer. Then Search & Shuffle per offer accepted. meaning that the timer is reset per card when he does his search.
This was a great episode! That ending had me in tears I was laughing so hard. I would almost say Justin should lose a point for not casting/resolving his general, but I know Josh often builds decks that aren't really made to cast the commander. He just wants to play the colors. And Justin technically did cast the general.
+Star City Games I gotta say you literally made my day when you just chuckled and said you were bad at Magic. I disagree completely but that is totally something I do when I goof big while playing Magic too. Gotta say you are a hell of a lot of fun to see on this show. Thanks for everything you add. And thank you all for everything you do do this community. I love the show and I love the work out into it. Always Team Green, but I love everyone on the show. Thanks again and have a good Thanksgiving
It wasn't so much a roast as it was a joke of competitive in general, if you noticed he said the friends I use to have. As you can't commander without friends and friends don't stick around if their isn't any fun.
Of course it was a joke. But I wonder if you realized that my comment was also a joke. Being called a casual when you're a commander player isn't too insulting since it's commander is pretty much the casual format anyway. Hence the sarcastic 'wow, such roast, very trash talk' comment.
I have just listened to the part talking about the decks, this was an amazing idea to include the Commander content community I APPROVE! I cant wait to watch the decks being played.
#TeamHolyGuacaNoelly with the 'W'! The submitted deck techs by content creators were amazing. I am really confident you guys have a much better formula for making content for the future if you keep ideas like this coming. Wow. What an episode!
This was one of the most fun games to watch yet. So many back and forths with like a different person threatening to do something super degenerate every turn. Soo sweeeeeet.
I always click like before the video even starts. I've never changed my mind afterwards. Love watching yall. Helps me learn new tips and tricks and yall make me laugh so much. 😂
This is probably my favourite episode. The decks were fun and powerful without being degenerate. There were interesting combinations of not commonly played cards, a lot of banter, misplays and overall good times. Congrats.
TheRedGauntlet You always take the offer. You just go get strip mine and hit the better land they get. It just removes the best land form there deck because NOBODY ever thinks about strip mine. So always take the land offer. Gets them every time. :)
Haven't seen it mentioned in comments yet, but a kinda big forgotten trigger was when Justin had Consuming Aberration he used Counterspell to counter Golgari Charm and no milling took place at around 37:50
171relic haha I really loved watching all of these permanents change hands back and forth to Charisma. it reminded me of a Holiday season special involving Krampus and Papa Noel, and stolen children.
I love this show! So funny, and fun to watch you guys, especially at the end when Suarez and Stephen kept dying over landfall triggers. Or when Justin was legit like "...man where did it go wrong...?" and Jeremy was like "oh? you dont remember? when you all got swindled by tempt with discovery AGAIN?" and Stephen's comments about peaceful real estate and taking advantage of the system... I love it
I love coming back to these old vids. You guys have to bring back the MTG content community decks. Also you guys need to consider guests during outside the seasons.
Keep in mind that Jeremy will /not/ lose points for Test with discover at 17:45. Tempt with Discovery is actually a different search, per card. Because it resolves: Search. Shuffle. Tempting Offer. Search. Shuffle. Search. Shuffle. Search. Shuffle. meaning that the timer is reset per card when he does his search.
Overall, from the decks, to the gameplay to the banter, this was one of the best videos in a while. I think the shorter length actually helped a lot as well. I love the product, but just wanted to say that this one was out of the park.
I don't know if it's the decks or what, but this episode was actually really great. The game was both insanely wacky and extremely powerful/competitive. Jon's turnaround killing the Gorgon Flail was just hilarious. I gotta say though, Jeremy killing Stephen first was pretty cold after Stephen did so much to help Jeremy draw 7 off Damia. And of course, killing your opponent with lands is always a beautiful thing. GG
21:39 How does Parnell untap two lands with Argothian Elder the turn it comes out? I didn't see a way for it to have haste, unless it was the nonbasic land he got from Jeremy's Tempt? Not trying to be nit-picky, but this one has me confused!
At 39:40 I don't think Jeremy draws a card after using Relic of Progenitus, which could be relevant in the game. Also, I was learning how to play when this video released, and also forgot to draw. Hmm.
This was a really fun episode. As a fan of The Command Zone and TCC, it was fun watching these decks play. Now I need to go check out those other channels! Thanks for the fun!
Being a commander is a trait of the card. Regardless of who controls it, it is still a commander, and if it deals combat damage, it counts as commander damage, regardless of who it belongs to, or who controls it, etc.
GREAT EPISODE GUYS! I find it funny that they told the Professor that they didnt want combos yet Justin had Niv Mizzet plus Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, etc in his deck and actually could of won if he had just saved the ophidian eye for the Niv IN HIS HAND!
Jeremy's mistake about his fetch lands was actually a blessing. Had he popped them the previous turn, he would have lost a point for taking out all three of them on a single turn.
could we please get Wes Wise, Danny West, David McDarby and another cool dude joining for an 8 player commander versus as a christmas special episode? Pleaaaase?
Mgs Victor Gomes This episode really reminded me of the classic McDarby/West Commander VS era, when they frequently played very powerful decks but still made it zany and hilarious.
I'd like to point out that the 2 times Jeremy played Sultai he won by shenanigans at the end xD lol love the videos guys and I can't wait to watch Jeremy play Sultai again :P
This video was great guys! Each one of these decks look like a blast to play, really thought you had it justin (that tim Deck was awesome, kudos to josh from the command zone). I can't wait to see this seasons finale!
Does anybody have a link to the Points System these guys use? I pick up things like first blood or casting your commander many times (i think four?), but seeing them all would be nice.
Is there any way to get the deck lists for the decks used? Just starting out in commander and trying to learn different archetypes and these decks were great
you're welcome. also, I recommend you the Clonehead channel, their gameplays are also very good for inspiring new players and showing good cards and archetypes
I really enjoyed this theme. I don't know if you gave strong specifications, but it seemed like the powerlevel was quite close and if you can get there again, I really recommend using this theme in the future, possible with other content creators inputs. Well done as always :)
No Justin had Ophidian Eye and Niv-Mizzet, The Firemind in his hand for a good portion of the game and probably could of won with it. The best part is that combo wouldnt lose him a point cuz it still kills ppl 1 at a time XD
bladeraider91 He still would have lost the point, which I assume is another reason he didn't do it. The point loss is for killing everyone in the same turn, not with the same damage
I thought the point loss was for killing everyone at once? Besides its also not infinite unless u use Niv + Mind Over Matter discarding an Eldrazi. You are probably right about why he didnt do it tho :)
Man this video was sweet! Love Justin's deck, have a special place in my heart for Razorfin Hunter, and was glad to see he was the Tim that did all the work! Now I really want to build a deck like that. #TeamParnell #ParnellBlue #BlackManaMatters #JusticeForJustin
when he stole Justin creature with roil and he killed it in response to the trigger would jeramy permintly keep the creature cause it's not in play when he steal it. or dose that only work for leave play affect and not static effects?
I believe he generally makes things to order, so if you are interested you contact him directly with your order. His online store is something new to me. Previously he worked via email and Facebook.
Which match had Jeremy casting Villainous Wealth? I remember seeing it and him casting it 2-3-4(?) times, just can't remember... You guys rock. Great use of the other UA-cam leaders of the Commander Community :-)

Hey, I have a question. How could Justin kill Damia, Sage of Stone with his Razofin Hunter and Gorgon Flail (in the minute 50 something), if Damia had Swiftfoot Boots, and therefore hexproof? Wouldn't hexproof protect Damia from Razofin Hunter's ability?
Can you guys do an Ep where the only cards you use are those that have been released in the commander sets? So only cards from Commander 2012-2016, the commander's arsenal and the original commander decks.
"...playing leovold with my former friends." Now that is artfully written humour!
That part actually got a genuine laugh out of me. So funny
that prof intro deck tech was pure gold.
(Jeremy) Hey everyone! For this episode, we decided to reach out to other Magic content creators to get their suggestions on what we should play. Star City Games I'd love to see Stephan play an upgraded Kynaios and Tiro deck, that focuses on hugs and saving other players, so he can rack up points and try to save the season
Stephen should play a Gwafa edh deck.
do you guys double sleeve your commander decks?
Keep in mind that you (Jeremy) will /not/ lose points for Tempt with Discover at 17:45.
Tempt with Discovery is actually a different search, per card. It resolves as: Search. Shuffle. Then the Tempting Offer. Then Search & Shuffle per offer accepted. meaning that the timer is reset per card when he does his search.

I would almost say Justin should lose a point for not casting/resolving his general, but I know Josh often builds decks that aren't really made to cast the commander. He just wants to play the colors. And Justin technically did cast the general.
you could make a agreement to whenever jeremy casts a tempt with discovery each one of you search for a strip mine, that would be funny
(Jeremy) This makes me a sad panda.
Thanks again and have a good Thanksgiving
everytime in my lgs meta, we cast tempt. everyone gets strip mine, wasteland. and people get crushed!
That was a damn fine roasting you guys got from the professor.
This is one of the greatest games I've ever seen. I am crying laughing. Thank you.
This was seriously one of the best Commander VS episodes yet! Keep em up guys!
Soo sweeeeeet.
fantastic episode. love the decks that were chosen & would enjoy looking through the deck lists if ya have em posted somewhere.
That piece with The Professor was awesome! Between this episode and your Split Second videos, SCG is doing a lot for the MTG community! Keep it up.
That was a great episode! I love Damia and I'm so glad I got to see her in action. No Villainous Wealth is sad, but someday we'll get there, Jeremy!
Ada Bee Well he did it last time
I always click like before the video even starts.
Congrats.
NEVER take the tempting offer....
TheRedGauntlet You always take the offer. You just go get strip mine and hit the better land they get. It just removes the best land form there deck because NOBODY ever thinks about strip mine. So always take the land offer. Gets them every time. :)
always take it
Just fetch a wasteland :)
Assuming everyone else also gets Wasteland/Strip Mine. Otherwise they're gonna get something.
bad idea -> Active Plaer still can search Urborg, Coffers + 2 lands and get a lot of Black mana.
haha "former friends" i love the prof.
This is my favorite video so far - everybody playing decks that aren't bad is pretty great and the commentary and jokes were hilarious
Haven't seen it mentioned in comments yet, but a kinda big forgotten trigger was when Justin had Consuming Aberration he used Counterspell to counter Golgari Charm and no milling took place at around 37:50
Justin deserved a point for controlling all Commanders
But he never actually had Riku under his control.
Insurrection...
One of the best games yet! Great job guys! Do the 2016 commanders again but with your own twists!
171relic haha I really loved watching all of these permanents change hands back and forth to Charisma. it reminded me of a Holiday season special involving Krampus and Papa Noel, and stolen children.
Couldn't Stephen just flicker the Razorfin Hunter with Roon in order to put Charisma in the graveyard ?
I love this show! So funny, and fun to watch you guys, especially at the end when Suarez and Stephen kept dying over landfall triggers. Or when Justin was legit like "...man where did it go wrong...?" and Jeremy was like "oh? you dont remember? when you all got swindled by tempt with discovery AGAIN?" and Stephen's comments about peaceful real estate and taking advantage of the system... I love it
JParnell, that tap y taps deck you are piloting was sooo neat and...darn it I have to go and build it.
I love coming back to these old vids. You guys have to bring back the MTG content community decks. Also you guys need to consider guests during outside the seasons.
The whole Suarez betrays Justin should have been punctuated with the "Fooled you" clip from Spaceballs.
Loved the video! It was really awesome watching this! Love all of you guys involved with Commander Versus
wow, this was a great game. really enjoyed all the back and forth! and HUGE CONGRATS to jeremy!
When you guys get around to it I think that it would be awesome if Jeremy Noell played a Merieke RI Berit deck focused on the taking control effect
No angus mackenzie from Wedge TheManaSource?! I want to see a draw. Haha
omg...this is my new favorite episode. only 7 mins in.
Mine too
I don’t think anything beats the debut of the chair tribal
Doesn't Oblivion Sower only take lands from the targeted player not everyone?
Yes, but all land cards in exile, and there were a LOT in Justin's exile.
It does. Parnell just had 16 lands in exile.
Goo Man his whole graveyard had been sent to exile after Consuming Aberration and Bajuka Bog had their way with him.
had the same doubt, came for help and, as always, someone stepped up! gotta love MTG UA-cam community!
@@GhillieFox375 yup
The pingers deck just really speaks to me and everything I love most about the Commander format.
Overall, from the decks, to the gameplay to the banter, this was one of the best videos in a while. I think the shorter length actually helped a lot as well. I love the product, but just wanted to say that this one was out of the park.
Suarez, I love you. That political Woodfall Primus action made me smile so big.
You guys should do an all star episode, where you bring back your favorite deck you've played in this series. It would be very fun to watch!
This was an awesome game! Everyone had a big moment and the season points are super close.
Jeremy put the forest into play off the Nissa trigger at 13:58 :O Now that a woodelves I would love to play!
DM Cross Anger was in the Graveyard
At 39:40 I don't think Jeremy draws a card after using Relic of Progenitus, which could be relevant in the game. Also, I was learning how to play when this video released, and also forgot to draw. Hmm.
Yeeees the tim deck! have wanted to see that one in action since they mention it often on the command cast.
YES! I have been on the fence about Roon and now I can see him in 4-player before I commit.
James Helms roon is actually a really fun commander
hands down the greatest and funniest episode so far in commander vs history. keep Up the awesome videos!
Brilliant episode, more like these please!
This was probably the best episode I’ve seen from you guys. It would be nice if you guys did this again.
That razorfin hunter really put in work this game
This one goes one for Mr Green. Crack it, Stack it, and Attack it. I hope you enjoy it my good sir. Hoorah Team Green!!!
What is that card from the Professor's deck tech intro that's behind his Teysa commander?
GREAT EPISODE GUYS! I find it funny that they told the Professor that they didnt want combos yet Justin had Niv Mizzet plus Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, etc in his deck and actually could of won if he had just saved the ophidian eye for the Niv IN HIS HAND!
Jeremy's mistake about his fetch lands was actually a blessing. Had he popped them the previous turn, he would have lost a point for taking out all three of them on a single turn.
True
By far the best episode of Commander VS ever. Each deck was 🍌.
This was great! I want more of this kind of videos.
TIL: Sapling of Colfenor is legendary. I didn't know that, and I have it in my Doran deck.
could we please get Wes Wise, Danny West, David McDarby and another cool dude joining for an 8 player commander versus as a christmas special episode? Pleaaaase?
Mgs Victor Gomes i would enjoy having Danny West and David McDarby make a cameo as well. Problem is, i believe McDarby left Star City some time ago.
16 hour video, confirmed.
McDarby did and now works for Wizards of the cost, last i knew Wes left SCG as well. Not sure about Danny, last i knew of him he sadly had cancer.
Mgs Victor Gomes This episode really reminded me of the classic McDarby/West Commander VS era, when they frequently played very powerful decks but still made it zany and hilarious.
+ModernArtery yeah, that was really cool. I really love the current team, I just miss the McDarby and West because they were awesome too.
Man that tap deck from the command zoone seems so much fun!
this game was great, i was actually in stitches laughing when green put the evolving wilds on the top of the land pile xD
Cheat found at @1:04:48, untaps a red creature, when murk-liege says green/blue.
I'd like to point out that the 2 times Jeremy played Sultai he won by shenanigans at the end xD lol
love the videos guys and I can't wait to watch Jeremy play Sultai again :P
This video was great guys! Each one of these decks look like a blast to play, really thought you had it justin (that tim Deck was awesome, kudos to josh from the command zone). I can't wait to see this seasons finale!
Does anybody have a link to the Points System these guys use? I pick up things like first blood or casting your commander many times (i think four?), but seeing them all would be nice.
45:50 Stephen why didn't you target the Razorfin? Would've accomplished the same mission and Justin would've been down 2 permanents.
You guys missed a group mill after Justin cast CounterSpell. Also, Jeremy didn't use Sol Ring to add to Psychic Drain.
Idea for the final episode: Three group hug decks vs one more powerful deck as the archenemy
"I wanna say... Hockey?" I love Jeremy.
Is there any way to get the deck lists for the decks used? Just starting out in commander and trying to learn different archetypes and these decks were great
the links are in the description my dude
Thanks! I must've skipped over it earlier
you're welcome. also, I recommend you the Clonehead channel, their gameplays are also very good for inspiring new players and showing good cards and archetypes
Man, the Terramorphic/Evolving was soooo painful xd
I really enjoyed this theme. I don't know if you gave strong specifications, but it seemed like the powerlevel was quite close and if you can get there again, I really recommend using this theme in the future, possible with other content creators inputs. Well done as always :)
just want to know where to submit a deck for you guys
Forgot to gain the life after attacking with the sap at 21:10
this was rly enjoyable to watch! Would be great if you´d do that again soon :D
Justin could just enchant Niv Mizzet with Ophidian Eye around 30:00, am i wrong?
Different niv mizzet
No, it's the right Niv Mizzet, I'd say the reason he didn't do it is because that wouldn't be very entertaining to watch
Game starts at 11:48
17:59 since everybody search their library for a land weren't you supposed to get four lands ?
Man this video was sweet! Love Justin's deck, have a special place in my heart for Razorfin Hunter, and was glad to see he was the Tim that did all the work! Now I really want to build a deck like that.
#TeamParnell #ParnellBlue #BlackManaMatters #JusticeForJustin
I think this is my favorite episode; I've not laughed this hard in a long time.
It's that day of the week boys! My #ParnellBlue playmat arrived in the mail today as well (damn international shipping)!
Anyway, go #TeamParnell !
This was a highly entertaining episode. One of the best ones!
when he stole Justin creature with roil and he killed it in response to the trigger would jeramy permintly keep the creature cause it's not in play when he steal it. or dose that only work for leave play affect and not static effects?
Woah! Where can I get one of those deckboxes the Prof had?
montygamer www.aaroncaincustomboxes.com
^Here^
Jeff Chittim when 15 of 16 products are out of stock..
I believe he generally makes things to order, so if you are interested you contact him directly with your order. His online store is something new to me. Previously he worked via email and Facebook.
I absolutely loved this video. This is my favorite for maybe the last 2 seasons.
Which match had Jeremy casting Villainous Wealth? I remember seeing it and him casting it 2-3-4(?) times, just can't remember...
You guys rock. Great use of the other UA-cam leaders of the Commander Community :-)
Great ending haha! evolving wilds is a win con!
I could tell you were having fun as this episode had more laugh out loud moments than any in recent memory. I really enjoyed this theme and I hope it returns.
As for fan submissions for next week, here's something I built recently:
tappedout.net/mtg-decks/vial-smasher-the-fierce-burn/
1:04:45 Parnell untaps a red Creatures with murkfiend liege
Really fun game to watch guys. Keep up the great videos!
Great episode, but I was really hoping to see some Villainous Wealth action.
This was a great show. Very cool and fun decks.
@15:55 Congrats Justin. You took exactly 40 seconds to search your library.
Would love to see one of you, preferably John or Jeremy, playing a Kaseto, Orochi Archmage deck. Maybe some Voltron with him?
"I choke on all the things." - Jeremy 2016
Can we see the decklists!!??
Hey, I have a question. How could Justin kill Damia, Sage of Stone with his Razofin Hunter and Gorgon Flail (in the minute 50 something), if Damia had Swiftfoot Boots, and therefore hexproof? Wouldn't hexproof protect Damia from Razofin Hunter's
ability?
Spoilers: When Jonathan died would all of his lands blink out of existence?
my heart, Josh but the professor. I can't choose who to chear for....Go justin
Can you guys do an Ep where the only cards you use are those that have been released in the commander sets? So only cards from Commander 2012-2016, the commander's arsenal and the original commander decks.
I think that was the most innocuous Survival of the Fittest I've ever seen. Normally it's broken in half.
