Finally you upload this video, I'm waiting for quite a long time since I saw you race this thundershot MS and upload the picture on your instagram.. Great job Jan, really appreciate it..
Thanks for all the vids and keep up the good work! Question: what chemicals do you use when building a new chassis? Sprays, grease, oils, etc.? Discovered the resurgence of mini 4wd after buying my kids a "scan2go" track on Amazon and, I've been on the quest for parts since! Brings me back to 1999/skipping school to go to the local hobby shop that sold parts and held small events. It's crazy how much the 4wd "scene" evolved! Kicking myself for placing my beloved Brocken Gigant Black special in that Balikbayan box years ago.
Hi Z3N , please can you video talk about aftermarket parts? teach us how to identify aftermarket parts(copy parts) from "original" tamiya parts. Thank!
Hi Jan, is this (chassis wise, not parts) build still relevant for 2020? If not, what do you think of the more effective new ways that should be implemented/adjust to this kind of build?
Hey man, great video! Your MS build style really inspired me for my first build. Your attention to detail makes the result even better. One thing that i’m curious about is the way you treat the gear. How do you lube it? What are those spray you are using? Are you using the standard Tamiya lube (little blue tube) as well? Need some advice in the best way lubing the gears. Also the gear for the tire shaft. Looking forward for your reply. Many thanks!
Hi John. Great video. I like the way you created different segments for easy reference. I'm getting into Mini 4WD again and I'm about to build one based on what you made here. I've noticed that a lot of racers now don't use one-way wheels. Is it not recommended? Also, I'm based in the Philippines and I don't see CRC from the stores here. Will WD40 work as well? Thank you in advance and I hope you do more videos.
One way wheels are slow, heavy, and have moving parts that are likely to break. CRC is a degreaser, look for an RC motor cleaning spray. Never Ever Use WD-40 for anything.
Hi John. I like your video. Can you help me. I'm building my car now. Can you share the regulation for brake sloop and or just sloop race. Can you share the dimension too. I already try to find out on the internet, but I didn't find anything. It's ok if the reguation from your country, I'll take it. (From indonesia)
The only brake regulation I know is 1mm brake clearance. Ask the other racers in your area. There are a lot of racers in Indonesia, just ask them where to find the rules on the internet. I don't think you can access the Tamiya USA website.
+bianges1 It actually doesn't matter what kind of race it is. 1mm brake clearance still applies. Even if the car has no brakes. The rule really means that the lowest part of the car (other than tires) must clear 1mm.
Sir, You have a new build for ms chassis that has pivot bumpers, right?in your own opinion, which one is the best build for ms? this build or the new build that you featured? :)
Between the two Motoko has a better chance with tracks that have digital turns and bouncing straights. On a normal track with no unusual obstacles. Plain Jane has the advantage.
Sure, but you don't need that much weight. Buy the cylinder and bowl shaped mass damper like I have in the video. Heavy mass dampers are really only needed if the cars is very heavy, to counteract the weight of the car. The point of body damper and bumperless is to lower the weight so that you can use less mass dampers.
Hello I'm Ashraf from Morocco I love racing small cars but I do not have it in my country. I want to get it. How can I get it? Please help me. Please, I want to open a club for small cars.
It's a Proxxon rotary tool. I can remember the name. I think it's called Proxxon FBS 115/E. Check your country's power socket and power out put compatibility before buying. The rotary tool I have in this video, I don't use anymore.
Hi, Is it ok for official races to have your chassis and other parts customly cut off? Shouldnt all the parts used be kept in the original condition? Also what is the The highest official race class called?I d like to get back into mini 4wd in the fastest races around the world but id like some guidance in What Chassis do the fastest cars use? what about the upper body(Car name)? thanks for your answers
Rudolf Behm Since I'm going to answer them in the order you asked them. 1. Yes 2. There are official rules for Tamiya Mini 4WD and they Do Not say anything about not being allowed to cut or trim parts. 3. In the Japan Cup, the most popular class is called Open Class. Which follows only the Original Tamiya Rules. 4. VS Chassis is the winningest chassis in the Japan Cup. 5. It doesn't matter what body you use as long as it is a Poly Carbonate Body. 6. There is no such thing as best Motor (They are not called engines). The fastest motor with the allowed normal batteries is Jet Dash.
Z3N Bluster Thank you, In Italy i ve read the MS L is the most used chassis so im confused to which to use now. are the MS L Evo or the VS Evo worth buying to build a fast car? it s been 19 years since i raced a mini 4wd even tho i still have the car set up on a super 1 chassis. Would you have any suggestion to which car/chassis to buy and maybe some sort of checklist of items to buy to install and start experimenting please?if im not asking too much.
You don't have to buy MS Evo for it to be fast, it's all about the setup. Build Super 2 it's easy to use for setup and it will be competitive. You can watch my other car feature videos. Look for the All Carbon Astute video. That's a good setup.
Rowence Manansala Puwede. But that defeats the purpose of having Body Damper. Using poly carbonate bodies is for losing weight. When you use normal ABS bodies, you don't lose any weight on the car.
+hernawan eduwardus Only in rare cases you will need different diameter wheel and tire front and back. Generally you want them to be the same. If they differ too much like 26mm dia front and 26.4mm dia back, then your front roller angle would be bigger than normal. This car is 26.1mm dia front and back.
This is not a kit. This is a combination of separate parts and built into a complete car. Cowl? Are you asking for the Body? The body I used on this build was a Thunder Shot Mk.II
+jomark labrador Why dont you fast forward to the end of the build video. see if you like the setup, if you dont. That's fine. Unless you really think you need MS Flex, then this build is still pretty strong. You can look at the race videos i posted on my channel around that time, youll see that this setup is pretty quick.

The oil I use is Inox. They use it for fishing reels I think.

how many races did these builds compete?
Do you have the link for the "sprint" site where you got those modified 19mm rollers?
Thanks for the awesome videos Jan!
I bought them from Mad Tang. Ask him.
sounds to me, this one is a little different way to handle the chassis enforcement with the one you use on Japan cup 2017
Yeah, this car was built a year and nine months before Liliana.
Is the a way to get the 5* angle on the front ounce you cut off the plastic bumper ?
Happy new year sir zen. More builds 😄 from other chasis.subs here tnx

Hi zen.. did you apply foam brake to this set up..?
Also.. when you want to change the motor, did you also unscrews all the screws that hold to the front bumpers..?

Showing off the car on a tablet. Hardcore pro.
Lol, when are we racing again? I'd invite you but the next meetup to hang out and race is on Valentine's day.
Hi zen, if i'm going to do speedtech with build. Ano maganda gamitin na motor nitong ms?
Richard Lauron It depends on the track. Not all tracks are the same.
i see.. dito samin sa Cebu City may jumps din. gamit ko Ultra Dash, is it ok kaya? :D
Richard Lauron Hindi puwede Ang Ultra sa MS.
oH, i see. XD
pede din po bang lagay sa body damper ang heavy?

how is diameter front and rear wheel for good speed in track.....thanks before Z3N

Do you sell custom build tamiya mini 4wd? Interested to buy. :)
I've thought about it. Perhaps later this year. I'll think about it more later on.
+Z3N Bluster Sana naman. Namiss ko din kasi maglaro tamiya mini 4wd. Rare kasi mga store sa Philippines.

Yes

jan what size of wheel you used?
Large Diameter Wheel. Total Diameter with Tire, 26.1mm.
+Z3N Bluster Thank you.
Kuya, tanong ko lang. grams ba yan?
I weighed the car in the video. You can see the weight near the conclusion.
Hello po sir tanong ko lang po magkano lahat ang nagastos niyo sa parts
I said the part numbers at the beginning of the video. You can look up the prices as I mention the part numbers and compute it yourself.
