    Cleaning drywall taping tools inside is easier than you might think.
    The Drywall Doctor wanted to take a couple minutes to answer a viewer request about how to clean tools when you have limited water (or it's Chicago and -5 degrees out and you'll need to wash up inside). Ray shows his cleaning method for his taping tools, from his angle head to bazooka/automatic taper and even an old school goose neck pump.
    There are some tips and tricks in here, including ensuring you get all your drywall mud out of the right places for your taper, in addition to allowing an excess mud to dry in cold weather that will allow remnants to wash off easily upon next use.

    Great video. Now I can use my bazooka and pump in the winter. 30 years of hand taping in Western New York and I just started using bazooka and boxes. Not being able to use a hose was a dilemma. Thanks for all you do

    Amazing video! You are the man! Update: I just ordered a bucket heater. Also about to try taping with a zook for the first time. I have about 62 sheets to tape and finish, almost no butt joints. I am a complete novice but you have been such an inspiration that I know with your help I will succeed. Thank you again for everything you have done for us.

      Doc 'twas a disaster! Quite the experience I must say. The end result: huge mess (compound everywhere), cockeyed looking tape joints, used a lot more tape than I should have (good thing it's cheap), forgot to close mud gate twice and made HUGE mess, after that the zook just didn't feel smooth. And to add insult to injury, I had 3 joints left at the end and loaded new paper roll backwards, had to rip everything out when I realized, scrape, and sheetrock facing came off in some spots. Then the cleaning, boy was that fun! Hoping I can salvage the situation tomorrow.

    Better to put the gooseneck in a separate empty bucket. After the pump has been cleared, pump clean water into the bazooka WITH THE VALVE CLOSED until full. Just as if filling with taping mud. With the head of the bazooka over the water bucket and the base of the tube resting in the floor, and with open valve, Manually retrieve the entire cable by turning the clutch mechanism. Dirty muddy water will come out the head and into water bucket. Repeat this process again. The entire inside of tube is cleaned in this manner. Wash outside as in video. When dry, spray moving parts with oil. Takes about two minutes at the end of the day.

    Hey guys. Taper here from Toronto, Canada. Just curious on which brands and grits and brands of sand paper you guys use. I use 80 grit paper for the pre sand and 120-150 grit foam backed (depending on brand) for the finish

    • @kidjetrecon7153
      @kidjetrecon7153 6 років тому

      Jerry D we use 120 or 150. Try not to sand first coat Cubs do. I usually strike off flow lines 120 second coat depending hand sponge and strike all edges and touch up. I've been in trade 35 yrs.

      What's the price difference? And if you take care of your tools and keep them clean and oiled any bazooka should last for years.
