      @@TechnicalsMatt no doubt pb farmers last OC was more safe then the T swift
      the fact you can control and keep a eye on temps makes it more safe.
      specially when people want most out of the boxes
      there are a design of shrouts than only blown on the inside, those do provide better cooling.
      the outside cooling is often done with fans on both sides of the box anyway
      i can hook them up with 1 duct fan to 3-4 connected boxes, because i blow only through the inside of boxes.

    I think what should be considered is the price of the new power supply and fans and heatsink and paste. All of that adds up and if we are buying that PSU ROI is going to take longer., but yes in the long run it will pay off

    • @TechnicalsMatt
      @TechnicalsMatt  6 місяців тому

      per the table, even with the mods, it would roi quicker than a stock unit. still waiting for someone to show me how the math is wrong (honestly, not trying to be combative because I can't believe it myself)

      @caffeineandkaspa 6 місяців тому

      @@TechnicalsMatt No worries. I only see the cost prices in your table as $349 on both whereas the OC version should technically be $349 for the miner, $125 for the PSU, $16 for the shroud, but lets assume they are printing it so a few pennies, $23 for the fan, $8.99 for the paste, and heatsink $6.99. That should be close to $513. Technically there are cheaper PSUs, cheaper fans, and cheaper pastes, but I would think the OC Version should be on your chart around 475 at a mininum. Not trying to be combative and I don't think these were included when I watched it. Really nice video though and I do think ROI will happen quicker, but you'd have to buy the cheaper stuff for that in my opinion otherwise it's around the same time, but will end up getting more profits in the long run. I'm hoping we see increased profits next month once they try again with the KRC20.

    Onething I did notice and this was brought up in afew other streams as maybe a possibility. If you raise the miner slightly off the table to cool it down it loses hash and quite a bit. I noticed 63 was a decent avg temp getting 400 plus gh/s. Even dropping it to 62 dropped the hash about 30-40 gh/s.
    Incase you don't feel like doing the firmware idea. Which I am interested in doing myself.... But...... If its not broke dont make it worse is kinda my thought.

    Yes the purpose of this video is to show they can overclock KS0 ultra and that's it.
    The price of the new PSU is more than half of the price of the miner, and then you need to pay for the firmware.
    Voiding the warranty, losing feature of the machine(can't reset LOL) and lessen the efficiency?
    Just buy another KS0 ultra. Why spend more increasing the risk and losing everything?
    Maybe if they did was stable 400GH @ 60w or lesser without tearing it down, I might consider using their firmware.

    • @TechnicalsMatt
      @TechnicalsMatt  6 місяців тому

      I did the math in the end of the vid and a supplemental showing that it makes more sense to overclock than just buy another ultra. Kaspa isn't about efficiency due to it's emission schedule.

    • @dryst5996
      @dryst5996 6 місяців тому

      @@TechnicalsMatt @TechnicalsMatt But you did not include the price of the firmware and the PSU, and copper heatsink on your computation.
      So lets say that 239$(price of miner on iceriver) + 140$(new PSU) + firmware + 10$(copper heatsink) then check again how long you will get the ROI.
      On iceriver website the price of ultra is 239$ + stock PSU is 20$ = 259$ @ 400gh
      if you want to do the OC 239$ + 140$(330w PSU) + 10$(copper heatsink) + 36$ firmware(618,676,700) = 425$ @ 600-680gh
      Let's say I bought 3 running @ stock = 1200gh @ 777$ @ 300w
      Compare it at 2 miner + OC = 1200gh/1360gh @850$ @ 400w
      At this moment I'll use your computation on the video, stock will give you 37.2$/month and 54.4$/month @ OC and it will be lesser every month because of the reduction on the emission schedule.
      Now I have 3 stock running (37.2 * 3 = 111.6) @ 300w with an ROI target of 777$
      2 OC running (54.4 * 2 = 108.8) @ 400w with an ROI target of 850$
      from this stand point I can clearly see who will ROI first specially if after power.
      3 Miner running on stock > 2 OC Miner running

    • @TechnicalsMatt
      @TechnicalsMatt  6 місяців тому

      I did in my supplemental video. The only thing I can't account for is difficulty increases which will surely rise and rise hard. I maintain that kaspa is about a race to ever-lowering rewards versus a long term efficiency play. Further to that, I don't subscribe to ROI based thinking mainly because there are so many constantly changing variables. It's pointless but this is the only metric I have to go on for comparison

    • @dryst5996
      @dryst5996 6 місяців тому

      @@TechnicalsMatt yeah, lets not consider the ROI. I'll use hashrate as a basis which one is higher using the same budget. maybe this will be the last one for now.
      And by the way efficiency is important that's why we have these miners right now.
      Example:
      I didn't add the cooling shroud price for now because you will not going to consider to OC if I added more price hahaha.
      Budget: 22,100$
      Miner Price: 239$
      Stock PSU: 20$/each miner
      OC:
      330w PSU: 140$/each miner
      Copper heatsink: 10$/each miner
      Firmware: 200KAS = 36$ at this time/each miner
      Use all the budget to buy miner and OC stuff (without the price of cooling shroud)
      239$ + 140$ + 10$ + 36$ = 425$ per miner
      52 miners = 22,100$/425$
      10400w = 52miners * 200watts
      32,136gh = 52miners * 618gh
      On stock:
      239$ + 20$ = 259$ but lets make it 260$ to use all 22,100$ budget
      85 miners = 22,100$/260$
      8,500w = 85miners * 100watts
      34,000gh = 85miners * 400gh
      Summary:
      I don't see any advantage why would you risk it to OC instead of buying another miner.
      Ahh yes, by OCing your miner you can save space at your placecompared having a lot of stock miners.

    What does it cost to upgrade the single unit? Fans, ducting, firmware...

    • @TechnicalsMatt
      @TechnicalsMatt  6 місяців тому

      FW is free with 0.5%
      PSU can be found for $50 for all but the top hashrate, the cadillac model is 130
      heatsinks and paste are cheap, maybe $10
      fan if you look around maybe $10, new $20
      shroud you can print yourself or buy on ebay for maybe $10. i sell a 2pack for 16+ship
      So, 80-180

    Hi, did anyone update this OC and it also blocked your iceriver ultra, it happened to me and I can't restore it via the miner button or via the IP via the Ice Monitor panel... has anyone managed it or do you know someone who can help?

      DM Tswift, from what i've heard the device isn't bricked like the pro could've been, everything is repairable

    bad option
    OC 300w = 700g
    where's the logic?
    better option
    norm 100w = 400g x 2

      the ROI tables near the end of the video (assuming no changes to difficulty, price, etc) spell a different story. Kaspa mining isn't about efficiency IMO. Efficiency is for coins that have long reduction schedules. Again, IMO.
