  • Footage of the 'Gota Fria' storm that has devastated South Eastern Spain.
The storm has affected multiple areas in the region of Valencia, all the way down through Alicante and Murcia, but this footage was taken by me so was all filmed in my town, Almoradi, warmly nick named 'Corazon de la Vega Baja'.
We have been completely cut off from other neighbouring towns, even Algorfa which is only 3km away, for 2 days now, but there is light at the end of the tunnel as the rain has finally ceased and the flood water has dropped a couple of inches.
Now that the power is back on, what better to do with my Saturday night stuck in than put some footage together to share with people.

Hey Stephanie, How's it looking there now? My wife was evacuated from our place in Heredades when the Segura burst its wall for the second time yesterday. The water has receded but apparently we've now got more coming our way from the mountains. I dare say this time, you'd be right in the firing line being that side of the town...?

I hope it improves for you soon. I've just posted an update on Almoradi.

This is something I will never forget. I had recently moved from The Luz to The Mirador and we were affected badly! Completely trapped in the block for a few days with the army coming around pretty much every hour to check on us. My parents had a house in El Saladar and had a fair bit of water inside and a lot of damage. Was certainly a traumatic time for many of us

You can still see the damage on many of the houses in Saladar. I was so lucky being up high and I know people who were promised insurance money that to this day they are still waiting for.

@@StephanieSaintRemy yes, some friends of mine lost their entire house! It was completely washed away! To this day, they haven’t received a penny in insurance money and the council claimed the land their house was built on, so they’ve lost the land as well. It was absolutely heart breaking!

    Good morning Stephanie.
A pleasure. We are film students from the Documentary film school in Madrid. We are producing a documentary about DANA in different parts of Spain with images of many people and Rescue corps. Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante, La Vega Baja, Murcia and different parts of the country. And we liked your video, we would also like some image like yours taking off from Almoradí to appear.
We would add you to credits and we would notify you as soon as the film is finished to watch it.
    Kind regards.

Oh I might know them! We were very lucky in this block, nowhere near as much disruption as even the neighbours in the blocks over the road. Should be back on track by the time you come over. I've just posted an update on the town in general.
