Thanks very much to show all of this...thanks for pointing out Gamblin greys...helpful...Yes...I find too...getting the shapes first, the values second and then back and forth...till I get the overall "correctness" creates a successful initial step and impression prior to going into the colour step. Thankyou...this is really very good tutorial...And yes it is like a big puzzle...First rate presentation. Love the brush holder too...got to find this in the stores or online.

That part of measuring, I use a Proportional Divider and it don`t fail in portraits or
still life or even landscapes.

Whe you changed from one valuation to the next for instance the "darkest light" to the medium light....did you let it dry in between?
Valerie Medina it doesnt have to dry. just dont blend it. you need to see the values amd over blending can harm this.

just use an opaque projector and sketch it, then paint. proportions will be dead on, and its a thousand times faster.
