Anduin was dominated mentally in the Shadowlands under the grasp of the Jailer, Zovaal, and Sylvanas. He was tortured for a long time and forced against his will to commit terrible atrocities. The fact that he's even somewhat sane at this point is a miracle. Anduin likely received the worst of all the leaders imprisoned there, save from being killed (though death would have been a mercy). After escaping the Maw and the Shadowlands, not much is known. But it's clear that he dove into solitude, hiding out for about 3 years. And anyone who knew him closely, expected that he needed this time alone, as is confirmed by Thrall here. "You needed time. We stayed away."
To expand on this, the part that truly's screwed up Anduin is that not only was he basically a passenger in his own body while he was mind controlled and forced to attack his friends and allies, but he also experienced pleasure in doing so, and worries how much of that was his. I hope at some point, he's told that the fact that he does worry about this is proof he's still a good person, as an immoral one wouldn't care.
