To me, they're both still terrified to take that next step into becoming "official". They're afraid that they'll burden the other, especially on Ichikawa's side when he sees Anna's career. They've got to learn to tear all those insecurities away first.

Oh man, the way he acted when they were eating takoyaki, Ichikawa definitely has the potential to be a really sweet boyfriend in the future. Also, I just realized, but he acted a LOT like her dad when she asked him what he thought about the photo shoot! >< i can't with these two
You can tell that when he stops worrying about his insecurities he's adorable and a little like his sister on the comforting and weird side

What I like about this episode is how Ichikawa growth up mentally, like he is more mature than back then. My boy not letting his ego win over Yamada's future. Man he is such a chad!
And if you notice he is also growing physically, he got a little taller!
He started in the first episode at 1.52, so he grew close to 1.60, but not exactly.
About the "merci", the translators wanted the first letter of the word to be the same as the last letter of the previous word. That's the point of the game. She said "arigatou" because the previous word ended in an a-sound but since it would be "thanks" in English, it wouldn't match so they just opted with "merci" because the previous translated word ended with the letter m.
It is very difficult to adapt word games from other cultures

When I was a teacher I used to make a point of remembering the name of at least one vice-principal from as many schools as possible so if I saw some students being a nuisance in McDonald’s or wherever, I could lean over and softly say something like “Oh, North Middle School, I wonder what Mr. Taro Suzuki would think about this, maybe I should ask him.”
I only actually did it 4 or 5 times in 10 years, but considering that nothing would come of it even if I =did= tell the school, it was surprisingly effective against 14 year olds!
His serial killer persona was a way of keeping people away so he didnt get hurt, but he's trying to open up now and let people in.
The bond between the Ichikawa siblings is definitely strong in this season, my favorite part of the ED is the first shot with lil Kanna holding baby Kyotaro
there's even an extra of the manga where we see kana holding Ichikawa but they are grown up, is funny

Actually last week WAS A MAJOR TURNING POINT, he knows he likes him and now everything is about what if they are a couple. He understand a movie ticket means going together, hang out means a date, the bathroom break means be with hm. Before last week he wouldn't think that way, that's huge for someone with inferiority complex.
That was the perfect "My Dress-up Darling" Train "you're beautiful"-scene. 😂 ... just double as cute ❤

35 years into the relationship, with 3 kids, Ichikawa thinking to himself: "Yamada's friendly with everyone, so it doesn't mean anything. Let's not get my hopes up or I'll just end up hurt."

The last episode was so good in the sense that it was so romantic, while this episode is good in a depressing way. I totally understand why Ichikawa is confused about what to feel about Yamada's job. I can't imagine what I would do if I were in a similar situation as him. I have so many thoughts, like what if she gets a role as a leading lady? Would I let her or not? What if there is a kissing scene? What if it is a more intimate scene? (I think that making someone in a relationship do these kinds of roles is just not right. You can't justify it by saying it is just "work" because you are still forcing someone to act like someone else's partner. They might just be acting, but they are still doing things a couple would do, no? For example, in kissing scenes, they are acting, but they would still kiss.) What if she gets abused, harassed, or taken advantage of by a producer or something? What if I ruin her career just being with her? I don't want to be the reason for her to quit what she loves, but I don't want to get hurt, either. Aside from the hundreds of what-ifs, I would also feel so out of place and distant. He bought her a cake from a convenience store while the people she knows at work can buy her high-end macarons. Not only is my status lower, but my ability to give her gifts is also lower. I really understand the turmoil he is going through, and it hurts. I hate the show business. It can lead to so much drama and potential abuse. That's why I wasn't sure if I liked that Yamada was on that type of job when I was first reading the manga. Damn, I just feel so much for Ichikawa. Despite all of this, he keeps trying to be better for himself and Yamada. This is why I really respect Ichikawa as a character. You can call him whatever you want, but you can't discredit the bravery and dedication he is showing just to be with Yamada.
Edit: Another reason why I hate show business when it comes to romance is the issue of Rushia/mikeneko and Mafumafu. I know the issue was not only because of the job they both have but more of the type of person Rushia is, but still.

He still likes his murder stuff a lot, but he doesn't carry his book that much outside of his bag because this was mostly as "a shield".
and the Merci thing is because Shiritori is a rly hard game to translate. The last silable of a word you say the other person needs to say a word that starts with the last silable but can't be a word taht ends in a N because no word in japanese starts with an N (not NA or NE, just N). So to translate this is quiiiite a challenge.

5:53 Too creamy inside means it wasn’t cooked all the way through properly. This usually happens when the heat is set too high and the outside cooks too quickly.
This usually is either because the person cooking them doesn’t have a lot of experience and the gas has been calibrated wrong, or the cook has deliberately turned up the heat to try to get through as many orders as possible when there’s a long line waiting.
The latter reason is why I usually avoid Takoyaki at festivals, and just order it in places where I can sit inside and eat it, like the fake Gindako here.

This episode is easily the "worst" of this season due to how mundane it is. Which is saying a lot 'cause this episode is fantastic. If you liked this one, then the rest of the season can no longer do any wrong. It's just gonna peak from here until the last episode of Season 2.

Feeling kinda bitter, but still happynn that your youngers sibling is living their life in school in ways you never did.
its not like he is interested in those stuff, cause in season 1 episode 12 he outright said that he used those things as a protective layer so that who even tries to be friends with him afterwards will like him for who he was, and he dropped those at the end of episode 12 saying that i dont need it anymore, it like yamada made him drop his shield/armor which he was holding very tight till that very point. If you read the manga the whole series is like Yamada bringing Ichikawa out to his original old self, and Ichikawa Being there for Anna. That's why the content (anime/manga) become soo huge and interesting.

It's an Eastern game (but I think it also exists here, but not as popular as in the East) where you say a word that starts with the last "syllable" of the one said by the other, In this case, the protagonist lost because he responded "thank you" instead of saying a word that started with the "to" in the word "arigato" 9:50
The way I see it Ichikawa was just one of those incel edgelord types because he was hiding the fact that he liked Yamada out of fear of getting his hopes up and eventually getting hurt. His insecurities about himself made him build all that up as a kind of security mechanism to rationalize "normies bad, I just want to kill her and make her all mine". But as their relationship has progressed, he's opened himself up more and doesn't really have a need for that mentality/outlook anymore. He's being more honest with himself....
But that's just how I see it, as a past incel/edgelord myself... I love this anime so much because Ichikawa is basically how I was in Middle/High School due to my autism and insecurities
usually in romance anime, i just cant wait for the main couple to get together, that i sometimes end up skipping unnecessary dialogs and/or filler episodes and stuff. But this romance anime made me want to watch almost every single second of it, just wanting to bask in their cute and relatable interactions. Especially when you are similar to Ichikawa personality wise, seeing him be more and more open and confident, feels like seeing the old me growing up.
I genuinely feel proud for him lol. Not to mention, i tend to make the same reactions as Ichikawa in various scenes just minus the anime sweat+blushing lol

Nah, Japan Takoyaki is the same. They just dough with a little bit of octopus inside. Sauce, little flakes, very tame flavor. A5 Wagyu beef, is what you need to save your cash on in Japan. Conbini (convenience store) food is also insanely good but cheap

@@ratzukezero5311 Yeah. He mentioned before that he's never seen anyone he knows at work before. He's never even had a job to my knowledge. But he goes to Yamada's workplace and the atmosphere is so "mature" and adult-like. He's already self-conscious about his looks (Particularly his height), especially compared to Yamada, so comments like "Is he someone's child" really doesn't help. There's also the fact that he gets flustered looking at a kiss scene while Yamada doesn't.
All of these things really pile up when you're someone with low self-esteem, even if you know deep down that she likes you.
I love this episode but i feel like they need one more boost before actual dating
This series is so much better than Horimiya. That series may have had amazing art but lost all interest after the MC cut his hair to look like every other generic anime MC.
Miyamura is still hot but he was hotter before
There is a kiss scene but I don’t think we getting it this season
