Sakeliga attacking ‘next-level’ BEE, advises more State-proofing no matter who wins Election’24

- In this powerful interview, Sakeliga’s CEO Piet le Roux unpacks his organisation’s fightback against the ‘third wave’ of BEE typified in efforts to make it compulsory for SA’s 40 000 estate agencies. Despite Pretoria’s growing legislative encroachment, Le Roux is upbeat about South Africa’s future: ‘State-proofing’ is being rapidly adopted by businesses and is laying the foundation for growth in the collective power of businesses to counter a weakening and increasingly ineffective central government. He told BizNews editor Alec Hogg that the next decade will be turbulent, but is confident the nation will emerge a lot stronger.

When the NATS adopted apartheid, the world stood up. Now that the ANC is adopting apartheid, the world is quiet.
@@somerandom1888nah. You are just confused. Lots of confused people running around lately.
@@somerandom1888 So what would you call it when I as a white male cannot be employed...
@@barend63 look for work in the western cape, you'll find
@@somerandom1888 BEE has benefitted nobody but the elites. The majority is suffering because of the incompetence it created. I can generate my own income, but the majority not in that position. Democracy means equality for all, not suppression of certain groups. Affirmative action has proved to have a negative effect where implemented. Just look at the state of our country. Preferential treatment to gain votes instead of taking care of the economy which will benefit all. Good governance it is not.
@@somerandom1888 I thought about my word choice. Not apartheid. You are right about the definition. What we experience is blatant discrimination.
Wow and everyone thought B J Voster was racist !!
Damn lastly, "When Injustice Becomes Law then Resistance Becomes Duty". Thomas Jefferson..
Good people disobey bad laws.
Cyril spoke years ago about the "frog boiling" Eskom is a good example of BEE - they lost all the white skilled people. You should get a job on merit, not on your skin colour.
White lives matter!! We built the country after all!
Cyril forgot about evolution and the ability of people adapting to thier surroundings.
The problem is that race and political loyalty became the criteria for getting management jobs instead of competence and performance. One result is that the best candidates for the job don't want it because they do not want to work in an environment that does not have excellence as a standard. Unfortunately, the way you frame the problem is that it comes across as 'whites competent, blacks incompetent', and reinforces the white mentality that whites are superior.
Remove the racial way of framing the problem and think of it as the system not only reduces competence and excellence as a standard, but discourages the best, of all races, from wanting to work in such an environment.
Whites believing they are superior creates the same problem when a company is biased towards hiring whites because of 'cultural fit' when a black person may be the better candidate. During apartheid, we had job reservation, which excluded non-whites, even if they were the best person for the job.
I don't know if this new form of job reservation, done in a more complex way, being driven by Ramaphosa is because he hates whites or because he has not freed himself from the brainwashing of apartheid (one group of people can flourish at the expense of another, for a while at least).
I dream of the day when all South Africans transcend racial bias!
He will reap what he sows. Believes he won't, but already the wheel is turning. Being president requires greater accountability.
Some of us are glad that most people can see right through RamaSofa. We are patiently waiting for the 29 of May.
ANC led by RamaSofa will never win these upcoming elections. Him and his handlers have done enough damage in the last 6 years and 2 months.
Awesome work Sakeliga...
Great interview. Thanks to both of you for helping us business owners to get the perspective we need.
"Maximum achievable non-compliance!" Skerp Piet! And nice to see the interviewee being professional in his studio set-up (sound/ light/ background).
Such a brilliant interview, thank you Lord for giving us people like Mr Piet Le Roux, I feel quite hopeful for our future after listening to him.🤗🤗
I agree
I also say voetsek ANC and EFF and MKP
Reversed discrimination.
On the Road to Socialism.
Thanks Piet Le Roux. 🤙
You can't fix racism with more racism
We must fight this.
Goeie advies SAKELIGA!!
That was epic. Thanks Piet. All Conversation that promotes an awareness in the extreme danger of 1)centralising decision making. 2)The extreme danger of identity politics. Discussions that promote a functioning productive society that rewards creativity, meritocracy, and personal sovereignty. Altruism a seductive path to chaos. Exactly like a credit card
Now this is something I can get behind!
No
Enough is enough
No fucken way
This has hit home and I stand behind this 100%. More frustrating is how people can justify creating a new company with a trust to comply as say this is the way to do it!! They are part of the problem. You don’t right a crime by another crime.
Wait until EFF and ANC take away your property rights, completely 😢
There will be no Estate Agents industry at all.
Me thinks Piet know exactly what Cyril did in the 90's. Not many people know but if you know, you know
The thing that frightens me the most about these BEE laws is that multiple senior government officials MUST have reviewed them before trying to implement them. And nobody seems to have thought "Hey, this sounds really racist" or "This is really unjust and we shouldn't do it" or anything like that. Instead they thought "Yep, I'm good with this" and tried to implement blatantly racist and unjust laws. This speaks volumes about their mentality.
Big Corporates also function better when decentralised. I worked for 2 big Corporates that moved to centralisation - they lost their market share dominance & never recovered.
Sofa. Licensed.

this is blatant discrimination

It’s time to interview some of the emerging parties like OHM, hope for South Africa and the like.
Communism. Central control.
Indeed.
The march to SA socialism is unstoppable.
With all these regulations, why open a business?
EXACTLY. I had an SME that employed around 15 people and won't do that again..... what a mire HR and unions are to work with. Nightmare stuff.
Vote for OHM. An idea whose time has come.
Forcing BEE in an environment where the SA Economy grows slower than its Population surely goes contra to The Universal Declaration of Human Rights which states in Art 23:1: 'Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favourable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment'?

Can businesses not write a charter together by which they make an oath to competency and excellence over other measures? If enough do this in the very least the ANC etc. would bump their heads against the same answer from multitudes of businesses - better if it all sounds like the same tune.
"Sorry, we don't allow racist hiring and procurement practices in our company - only merit based".
What big business doesn't realize is that the youth are going to do away with big business and start afresh with investors from Russia and China irrespective of how successful will the direction be.
I'm not just saying because I want to sound smart. If you dont believe me, look at what's happening in Columbia University today. Jewish students are wearing Palestinian flags and vouching for the end of war.
Invent your own sharp stick
United Nations has a sunset clause concerning BEE. Why cant this be enforced on the criminal ANC govt? Help from the USA ?
Next 10 years??? Easy when your a youngster 😅
The ppra wants bee on tirnover of R2.5million not R10 mill
This is the only way
It's what we in the trade call, "Bullshit Jobs"... Hurry up and waste time jobs. Or Shosalosa. Same thing...😊😅😂
How do we define "race"?

Amen.
It's FFW now ....
SOMETIMES BUSINESSES NEED TO THINK OUTSIDE OF THE PROTECTION BOX. BLACK PEOPLE ARE IN THE MAJORITY AND WILL IN FUTURE BE THE MAJORITY BUYERS OF HOMES. YOU EITHER NEED BLACK ESTATE AGENTS IN YOUR BUSINESS OR IT WILL BE A BIG MARKET FOR BLACK ESTATE AGENTS TO SET UP AGENCIES THEMSELVES..
Which is good. Let the Black People start their own Real Estate Businesses. Let them be responsible for their Progress through the Real Estate business, NOT Forced by BBEEE. Asking existing Companies to hand over or Give Away their businesses, that is THEFT !!!!
Houses are so expensive these days. It's hard for any race to buy.

Plenty of dodgy agents around already and this policy can only make it WORSE. Selling privately with the documentation handled by a lawyer will become the NEW METHOD of property transactions.
Why are you shouting?
If it is logical why would you have to legislate for it?
Do you know why there was a BEE formation in the first place?
Because they couldn’t create industry on their own brain cells
Yes, and it was not to discriminate. Like currently happening.
to empower ANC cadres :( not to help the millions of people who needed to be uplifted..

This didn't address the question of the bind estate agents will be in with this new law. They can't operate in a legal twilight zone. I certainly wouldn't want to use one who did to buy my home.
Are you fucking kidding Mr??
