This is the first that I've heard of Norah Jones. She has a lovely voice but you can certainly hear Nancy Wilson's influence on her. It is a certainty that we all stand on the shoulders of those who have preceded us. Marian was the consummate professional. She accompanies Norah perfectly. She never out plays her and her voicings are both understated and beautiful. This is a nice rendition of this standard.
Marion McPartland is a terrific pianist it' is always good to hear her. Norah Jones on the other hand is rather nice to look at and I give her credit for finding a unique way of completely ruining a lovely old song. I hope it didn't hurt,, but by the sound of it, it probably did.
Kingsley Pedlar it was a complete show. I happen to have it in mp3! if you want i could share a link internally, it’s one of my favorite things to listen to
I don't like the voice. The phrasing is...predictable. You are perfectly within your rights if you like this. of course. Jazz doesn't tell you what to like. But don't call this vocal "jazz".
And then there is the question about beauty in the eyes of the beholder. Did I relax when listening, definitely. Maybe the three guys should try and relax, but then again everyone is DIFFERENT and thank goodness for that.
Nora Jones -- just the right mood...
Marian we miss you madly.
Beautiful. What a great match, Marian & Nora. Thanks...
M
Beautiful voice. Love this rendition!

toneroable a great song! I still remember the first time I heard it on the radio... it sounded just like classic jazz, totally fell in love!
Nice pairing.
Damned if I didn't just fall in love.

Makes me feel so gooood!!
Amazing
Aficionado of the American Songbook, Brill Building song smiths parlayed poetic prose, jazz maven with Carmen McRae and Nancy Wilson.
Beautiful, but Bille cut the definitive version in 1938.
It's a close call, but I have Bunny slated for that one.
I like the way Bunny retains the words “a house, a showplace”. Billie and Nora sing “a house and a showplace” - which isn’t as good, I think.
*Norah
You are welcome ! :) I think it is wonderful too.
What album can one find this on?
I got it from "Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz With Norah Jones"
Khatleen M so glad for this info! Thanks! 😊
Was this song recorded on Marian McPartland's NPR Jazz Radio show 2003? Or is there a complete CD album of these 2? Thanks
Kingsley Pedlar it was a complete show. I happen to have it in mp3! if you want i could share a link internally, it’s one of my favorite things to listen to
bunny berigan still did the best version imo
It's remarkable to me that she is the daughter of Ravi Shankar!
Norah Jones has inherited her musical talent from her father Pandit Ravi Shankar, the Sitar Maestro.
Wow I always thought this song was a ballad due to the reflective lyric, not medium swing as it first was 😊
Listen to Billie Holiday's uptempo 1930's recording. Delicious!
Naaah. Bunny Berigan's classic version puts this to shame. And he had a better singing voice.
I never thought anyone would equal FrankSinatra version but this is close
0:original words please ,your changes are cringe worthy
Ella Fitzgerald sang it so beautifully this was kind of sloppy and dragged out

Phillip Picciotti Agreed.
Yes, a weedy, inadequate voice, lacking in range and articulation. But she's cute so she makes big $.
What a sad Old Grumpy Men's Club. Your comments are...predictable, sexist and lacking in range and articulation. Poor three of you.
Great vocal jazz
