- On January 30, 1969, The Beatles famously staged their final live performance on the rooftop of their Apple Corps headquarters in London’s Savile Row. Norah performed two rooftop tribute performance videos of Beatles songs from the Let It Be album (“I’ve Got A Feeling” and “Let It Be”), recently filmed with her band on the rooftop of New York’s Empire State Building.

Lyrics:
When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree
There will be an answer, let it be
Though they may be parted, there is still a chance that they may see
There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
There will be an answer, let it be
And when the night is cloudy there is still a light that shines on me
Shine until tomorrow, let it be
I wake up to the sound of music, Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
And let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be

For those who don't know Norah is Ravi Shankar's daughter. He was an important part of the Beatles musical inner circle. He introduced the Sitar into their music.
Didn't ravi speak at a concert for George?
and she has a half-sister, Ravi Shankar's other daughter Anoushka Shankar, is a well know international sitar player, composer and classical (Indian) dancer...
@@willyrobertlegendre4662 yes, Anoushka and Norah also played together 💖 beautiful music 🎼🎵🎶
He was a famous Sitar player in India before meeting the Beatles.
He was their dealer when they went down the new age rabbit hole?
In my opinion she is one of the most amazing female artists of this generation!🤩🤩
Yes she sure is.......................................
Yes o but yes
See: Black Hole Sun medley by Soundgarden in homage, upon the passage of Chris Cornell.
not really this generation lol but she is great. Her first album came out in 2002
I agree entirely!!! You can recognise her Voice immediately, So smooth 👌 😎
Norah is not just a good singer. She is such a great arranger and pianist as well. She makes the iconic song sounds even more bluesy than it already is!
i hope to make love
“And when the night is cloudy, their is still a light that shines on me…”
The Beatles have fovever changed the music world and will continue to influence generations for many many years to come. Peace and love!!!✌️❤️🌎
My mom and dad loves this song ....it is the best ever
this woman has never turned in a mediocre performance in her life. She is exceptional.
Norah's vocals adding eternal magic to a heartwarming classic ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Captures the spirit of the rooftop concert from nearly 53 years ago. Great performance from these fine folks!
Yes indeed
no cops though
Quit being simps.. this is nothing compared to the OG rooftop concert, imo
@@TheLiveMontageGuy05 of course not
@@TheLiveMontageGuy05 did we say it was better
Wonderful rendition of a classic masterpiece. So crisp!
Norah's voice is so special and timeless!! Great and intimate version of this classic ❤
RIP John and George. You are sorely missed.
Everyday, indeed.
They certainly are
George ?
@@Sakafroukos George Harrison?…. What’re you new to the Beatles mate?
@@TheLiveMontageGuy05 just yesterday
Wow! Macca owned this song. Nobody could top his vocals on it. But I must admit you’ve done out a wonderful new rendition.
And your keyboard playing is fantastic! It’s like a slightly jazzier take on it.
Nora Jones you rock!
Well done! 👏🏻🎸😎
Macca?😂
@@EnricoDutch Paul McCartney
McCartney wrote an incredibly beautiful song in ‘Let It Be’. But he is far - very far - from being its best performer. Let it be is one of those songs where numerous covers far surpass the original performer’s rendition. Norah Jones’s version is gorgeous, and is just one of more than 20 covers I can think of that all surpass McCartney’s rendition. McCartney’s genius here was in its composition - not its performance.
@@user-mw9bd2ey6s
I respect your opinion but I don’t agree. Macca had the right vocals for this song which gives it such emotional resonance. You are free to prefer other versions. My preference is the original. Like when he starts singing the first line. It just hits me emotionally that I’m going on a journey and he’s taking me along! Incredible the impact it has on me instantly! Maybe it’s the close up that makes it powerful. It moves me!
@@dynjarren8355 Can’t argue with that! All the best to you, and take care.
Wow, what a polished performance. Not many can do this wearing thick coats, in freezing cold wind on the top the empire state.
Ringo did it in a snowy mountain
How come you stay so high up there know that there is everything how far can you go and see when it is blowing in your ear
@@GuruRaga Yes, but I daresay both Paul and Ringo would be very quick to sing this lady's praises. And Paul would probably readily admit that she's easily twice the vocalist/voice that he ever was. Both he and John Lennon were GREAT singers. But Norah's on a higher level to great, is she not?
What else can be said about this young lady ... she's just fantastic. She brings that feeling of being young again even to those of us who are older and have written off the younger generations as without a good sense of music. Norah, I am 61 years old and you have corrected me - music is not dead! A very good job and THANK YOU
This is just beautiful Norah and Let It Be are a match made in heaven, one of my favorites doing one of the most epic songs ever, it just seems right
First time I've heard Norah singing this classic what a fantastic rendition just amazing.
A half century old song still has deep meaning. Excellent cover.
written by a guy in his 20's. The Beatles were maestros and unparalleled in talent or impact
That piano tone, with it's vintage distortion, gave me 5 minute goosebumps.
vocals, piano solo, and band totally kill it too.
wurlitzer electric piano (patch tone on probably a Nord Stage)
@@gazjaz2010 If you didn't peep the sliver of red in the side angle, good call
Thank God for allowing me to live in the same generation with Norah Jones and enjoy her music from my 20s. God bless Norah!
I can never get my head around how good this is every time I hear it. Everyone in the WORLD has to hear this whether your a fan of Norah Jones, or not. I'll put it very simply why, with 7 words.
This is what real talent sounds like!
Always did have the voice of an angel.
I'm trying to focus on strict musicality (how much I love the drumming of Brian Blade, the kick ass sound of that funky keyboard) but the VIBE of this is so soulful and strong, my eyes are watering. I didn't know this was part of the Xmas special. Just a perfect thing to hear right now. Thank you, everyone involved.
Keyboard tone is fantastic isn’t it? Princeton Reverb?
This is for the rooftop concert anniversary, nothing to do with JC.
Well said
@@guitsynthcw appears to be yes, and Nord keys
Norah delivers an outstanding rendition of a long time favorite. I used to wonder who this mysterious Mother Mary was until a recent article confirmed it was based on Paul's own mother.
Paul said that 40 years ago
Folks, I've lived a life of addictions for over 30 years. I knew God but always felt he couldn't love me. When I listen to Tasha's song, I realize how wrong I was. Almost 2 years clean next month Ill sing forever. He waited patiently for me. Help me to see everything you see in me. Hallelujah!!! Praise God for her ministry. God gets the glory
This lady brings a smile to the music lover in me every time.
This is a excellent rendition.... well done Norah, you are a gem.
Couldn’t have said it any better. This is great
Norah is the best, and the song fits her perfectly well.
Inspired by ray charles + john alicia keys live version
My mom and dad loves this song too....Norah sing this song on the tribute of the legendary band,The Beatles
Uma pérola musical para os dias atuais. Vem para o Brazil 😊
Wow what a rendition. You've really taken it to another level
Wow this rendition literally gave me chills. Awesome job Norah! 👍👏👏👏
Looking down from heaven above, John Lennon does sure agree, speaking words of wisdom LET IT BE.
Just wanted to add my little bit. But, I have no doubt he does. This performance captures the essence of the original. I wan't to say I'm surprised because it is ONE HELL of a song, but I have adored that musician for 22 years. I KNOW Norah has this sort of thing in her.
Shine that light forever, let it be!
The best voice ever!!!
What a beautiful rendition. ❤ 👏
The first minute or so of this has to be the greatest minute in all of music's history. Absolutely pitch perfect. Such incredible nuance and dedication to the subject. The whole performance is an absolute triumph, don't misunderstand me there, but that first minute....
WOAH!!!
I needed to hear her sing this. Thank you Nora Jones this is beautiful.
OMG! The fact that Norah covered this in itself is insane and I’m already overwhelmed, not to mention the variations she’s brought. I shall let it be too! ❤️😍
Listening to Norah Jones' singing voice is an experience which is similar to what is felt while exploring those breathtaking Hubble images of the cosmos. 🌺
Linda versão de Let It Be....parabéns Norah Jones!!!!
Let it be........... 2022 ❤️
Wonderful song ! 🙂 🎹 🎵 🎼🎶
Congratulations Norah ! 👏🌹
Just wonderful. Norah touched my soul. Greetings from the Domininican Republic.
Magica Norah! What a wonderful version! Thank you Norah for this performance!
I love how Norah puts her signature on this song, simply beautiful 💚
My 4 months old baby boy loves it!
Norah's voice makes my baby calm and the song get him to sleep 💤🎉🎉🎉
Embrace every moment with him, the good times and the hard! What will seem like the blink of an eye, he will 18 and starting on his own journey!💖
I know, mine are 20 and 22, seems like yesterday I was looking into their young eyes while holding their bottle!!!!💕
A timeless voice with that classic. Thank you so much Norah. Sending you love from 🇵🇭❤️
It is impossible for me to communicate how much I love you and your talent! and the Beatles :-) class act!
Wow that was great, what a beautiful setting, just loved the song and the Backing, great stuff Thank you
More people need to see this. Music, it's not dead folks, far from it. Not with guiding light's such as Norah there to lead the way.
Classic Song with a Norah Jones sauce over it , is a prefect combination 😍 ! So soft and pure 🎼❤️
Amazing. As always, Norah.
Best cover of that song ! What feeling ! Excellent job, Norah .
Very nice cover but it doesn't match that of Ray Charles.
Check out a version of this song "Let It Be by JP Cooper." It'd be really cool to see Norah & JP collaborate together on a tune seeing they both share a very similar vibe they share in their music, IMO. +Peace, Funk & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Souls My Friends+
I truly love sincere covers of Beatles songs! 🎼🎵🎹🥰
What a welcome surprise this morning. Absolutely amazing. ❤️
Beautiful performance.. The Beatles will forever shine on ❤️
Great contemporary 'rooftop' concert tribute to that band that did a famous rooftop concert more than 52 years ago.
"let it be" is some of the best advice i ever got.
We used this song at my Mom’s funeral. This song gets me in the feels anyway but this version is amazing.
Don't cry... Your mom has watched you from above....I lost my grandfather in 2021,But i deeply cared about him....

How lovely to see 2 sisters collaborate together producing absolute beauty !
Sasha Dobson is NOT Norah's sister. Although they've been close friends for... 22 years, more, so maybe they see each other as sisters.
Jones real, half sister, Anoushka Shankar who's by all accounts a great sitar player [apparently takes after her dad] is clearly not involved here. [Not sure how they would have fit a sitar into this if she was] They have collaborated in the past and there's also a podcast featuring Anoushka from Jones playing along with podcast series.
one of the best rendition of this great Beatles song.Awsome !!!!
Got the chills from just from first note!🔥
Haha then you should put on a jacket!
Yeah, windy rendition ainnit.
That intro, right up to the vocal - damn near killed me. Cannot get better than that.
Try listening to it with surround sound headphones. OMG.
The chills isn't even apt here. Norah's vocal in this is like bottled teardrops falling from the eyes of angels in heaven, especially at the star before the rest of the band really kick in. I don't know how it would translate compared to anyone who was there, but for me the vocal in that first minute or so damn near kills me it's THAT sweet. I have most of her albums, been a fan of her's since late 2001, but this... can't get enough of it. I come back to this video almost every day...
This was beautiful.
Thanks to all involved. What an evocative performance.
I am glad I wasn't there getting all that gear up thru those lifts, but I'm glad it was done because it lifted me!
Argentina loves you Norah. ♥
Superbe interprétation de Let it be par cette Norah Jones qui brille d'une lumière divine ! 😊
Yess ..
It's amazing to be at the top empire state building, the view of the panorama is fantastic.....
Happy Birthday, Norah !
This is Nori, your first Japanese A&R, long time no see, do you remember me ?
Today my wife let me know this footage as it is her favorite one, and I was so moved by your impeccable and groovy performance featuring Brian Blade.
Also happy anniversary for 20 years of "Come Away with Me".
Still can't get over just how good this is.
And I've been a fan of Norah's since 2001... so, I should know better.
Beautiful, love it
i never know a song cover could be this life changing. thank you, norah
Such a mesmerizing voice. Kudos!
This is a beautiful rendition. It has moved me which is rare these days for me. Thank you for sharing your voice never stop making music please.
loving you in Joshua Tree, CA
I was lucky enough to see Norah when she performed here in Brisbane, Australia, exactly 19 years ago today in 2003. I would have loved to have been there to see Norah sing Let It Be at the Empire State Building. That was magical.
I've seen her live twice. Once in 2007, the other in 2009. 15 years... far too long. I wish to see her live again. Nothing is quite like it, no one is quite like her.
She's a special kind of talent that defies logic, almost.
So beautiful jazzy version 🙏💜☯️☮ Thanks so much
As someone who hails from India, it is absolutely mesmerising to see Norah look so much like her biological father (Indian classical Sitarist and Maestro Ravi Shankar) , but much more importantly - inherit that undeniable gene of musical genius from a biological parent, and interpret it and express it in the exquisite brand of music Norah is so well known for.
I didn’t just stumble upon one or the other later in life - I grew up with BOTH kinds of music, and knowing both artists separately for their work. Looking back I now realise how lucky I really was!
I remember Norah struggling to hold all her Grammy’s on stage back in the 90’s and thinking “Wow, sometimes incredible talent does get inherited, and find a whole new expression! Her dad may have never been part of her life, but good for her that she got his gift.”
I feel quite lucky to be able to see how the talent for musical artistry that feels undeniably genetic , can be expressed in two completely different but equally beautiful forms of music , as exemplified by Norah and Ravi. Breathtaking! And such a beautiful example of how genius will emerge when someone is born with it - both Ravi and Norah worked hard as young people to develop their talent.
Sometimes it feels good to be able to enjoy the arts from different parts of the world equally for the majority of one’s life, long may artists like these continue to share their genius with the rest of us in whatever form inspires them! 🙂
Farvorite song with my favorite artist, love your voices ❤
So sweet and inspiring, whoever reading this, I pray that God visit your home with healing, blessings and miracles. Amen.💕 Amen.💕
That was fantastic. Loved the groove and the great vocal harmonies. Well done!
Most female singers sound like they try to impress with screaming. Norah Jones has an angelic voice that will melt anyone's heart ❤️
Great as always!!
Magnificent interpretation!!
God thank You for This jazz Angel on our Planet 🙏🤩🦋🤗❤️
Miel para mio oídos... Una de mis letras favoritas en la mejor voz femenina de hace mucho tiempo!! Great job Norah.you still have an oustandong voice👌👌👌❤️❤️❤️
The Beatles, are point less than impossible to match, less to overcome. Thank you John, Paul, George & Ringo
This should become the National Anthem
Unfortunately we can't "adopt" Mr's Jones.
Beautiful 😍
Great Norah! Let it be
Lovely rendition of a pop masterpiece!
She honored the Beatles and her Dad with the upmost respect with this cover...no denying it, period
My mom and dad loves The Beatles's Let it be..this song is the best ever...I have both loving parents with love of Elvis Presley and The Beatles's songs....
This song brings back memories
I honestly don't think Norah would have even momentarily thought of her dad in that cover. She would obviously know that at some point he worked with the Beatles [in a way] but that's only a very small part of HIS journey as a musician, and she's honoured him before, already, by collaborating musically with her half sister.
This cover was about the song first, the Beatles and paying tribute to them, as a LEGENDARY band, second. And... nothing else.
Esse cover ficou simplesmente maravilhoso 🤩🤩🤩🇧🇷
Those keys sound amazing. Great cover. EDIT: OH MY GOSH her solo!
Perfeito, Norah!
Norah Jones' touch is wonderful.
Thanks For the tribute in the Empire
Well you crept that one in Norah. Never heard it sung so well if not better than the original version. If your Dad is listening he will be so pleased with you. Bless you. Love from your friend in the England U.K. 💕🌹🌷
UGH love her singing, so silky and calming.
i love this! thank you norah
My 7-year-old son is learning this song for his vocal class. I'll play it on guitar and he'll perform it for a competition. I've gotta say, this is probably my favorite version I've heard so far! Absolutely perfect.
I think if Macca had been there [Paul McCartney] he would have doffed his cap. I don't think words alone can quite express what Norah's vocal ability is truly like. Just consider the range of emotions in her voice as she sings the words. Sing, isn't a fitting descriptor, really, she appropriates them and convey's the meaning of them maybe even better than Macca could do. The bluesy soulful vibe of the song comes out in her amazing vocal with every high note. This song was WRITTEN for someone as vocally gifted as Jones to perform it. I would love to get Macca's thoughts on this. My theory is he would absolutely love this... Add to it all that tasteful and mazy piano solo in the middle or thereabouts, and you got yourself probably the cover of all cover songs.
I keep coming back to this and I should KNOW what Jones is like. I have most of her albums and been a fan for 22 years... but this floors me every time.
Great thanks 😂😊🤩🥰 Tony UK
No Auto Tune, pitch correction, or anything robotic!; this is why I love Norah Jones 💯
A masterpiece performed by an angel. Gives you chills.
Overhead drone camera shot was AMAZING. Oh, the vocal and keyboard work gave me chills. Fantastic.
