We had similar weather on our 2019 Camino Portuguese. The Eiffel Bridge was, well, memorable and we were soaked to the bone when we arrived up on the hill at the Albergue.
@@harryjamesroth We surely are getting that “itch.” We had plans to “retire” from my full time work in June 2025 and have discussed the Camino Frances, another Portugues but from Lisbon, the Primativo or even the Camino Dos Faros. I’m really interested in a Via Francegina from the UK to Rome. Alas an obstacle recently presented itself and I have a year of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant to get through before any more travel. Planning for these trips will sustain me in the days ahead.
Hi Steve, yes the Francegina is definitely one that tickles my fancy too as I love Italy and the part through Tuscany is very appealing. I’m contemplating the Dos Faros (Lighthouse one) for this September actually. Sending you positive thoughts for your treatment and recovery ❤
Hi Harry, I'm the one who got you back on track before you completed the third stage. I'm glad to hear that everything went well, and that they reached the end!
Hi Joao! It is fantastic to hear from you :) I’m so pleased that you found this video. We remain so grateful for your help that day! Thank you again so much.
Well, Harry, I just watched all your Camino Portuguese (from Porto to Santiago 😆) films. Wow, now that pilgrimage was one of sheer tenacity and resilience!! Your filming and choice of music was excellent, but even more significantly was your clear, transparent communication. I watched and felt your discomfort and pain (at least a little from the comfort of my home!). Yet you always came back with a hopeful word and a smile. I must admit I'm hoping for a smoother pilgrimage in two months when I begin! You have the soul of a true pilgrim, Harry! Thank you for sharing your heart!
Thank you so much for the lovely feedback. It really does mean a lot to hear that my journey resonated with you :) I’m mentally preparing myself for another Camino later this year and your comment has really helped with my motivation so thank you for that. Sending you best wishes from London for your Camino in 2 months time :)
It really is cool that your experience that you posted about one year ago can reach through time to encourage a fellow pilgrim so far away! @@harryjamesroth I sure appreciate your effort. Also, what was that mic you were holding (the fuzzy little caterpillar 😆)? The sound was remarkably good for such TERRIBLE weather! I'll be making little videos for my friends and family back home and expect to be hit with coastal winds as you did!!
Live a great Story..... Indeed you are Sir and thank you for sharing your adventures along the way. I've loved all your video an enriching accompaniment to a coffee break. Looking forward to your next story. X
I’m planning this for next year & exorcise some demons of the past & present. Truly inspired by so many vlogs of all the Camino’s. May all who view be blessed & inspired .
There’s no better place for demon exorcising than the Camino. It’s like being in negative mindset rehab! To unplug from your regular routine and the same 4 walls and just walk… it really is transformative. I wish you all the best!
Hello Harry. I really enjoyed your video. It was from a different perspective. It certainly highlighted the bad weather you endured, but also highlighted the beautiful scenery along the way. Happy New Year to you. I look forward to seeing your next adventure.
Ah, I really appreciate and am grateful for all of your videos. It hurts my heart that this trek was as rough as it was and you also recorded the experience in a profound way. Thanks for that!! Please be well, take care, and many safe future travels. Honestly, your photos and vlog are a gift to many who are drawn to the Camino.
Hi Carol, thank you for watching :) I hope that you do make it to walk your own Camino Portuguese in the near future and wish you all the best for that :)
Hi Ben! Thank you very much for your kind words. October 22? Maybe we were on the path at the same time then? I’m now preparing to walk the Invierno in April this year which is very exciting for me :)
I do the condensed version because I think there’s a few people who don’t want to hear me speak hahah! Yes, next April but I’m not sure which Camino to do yet…
Hi Harry, Congratulations on finishing Portuguese Camino. Like you I did the Frances in spring, Portugal in fall. After Santiago I walked in the rain all the way to Finisterre. Def preferred spring how about you. I set off from Pamplona April 12😀the Camino bug bit me!
@@denisebernaldo6144 Hi Denise, happy New Year and thanks again for watching. Yes, I definitely preferred walking in Spring! So you’re walking another Camino next April 2023 then?
Why did you decide to do the Camino in 10 days? Why did you decide to cross the border on the bridge? Why not stop at Redondela? Did you take your foot medicine with you?
Hello and thank you for watching. I only had 10 days available to do the Camino because of my job back in London. If I had the luxury of more time available then I would have done lots of things differently on the Portuguese Camino. Maybe next time! And, no, I didn’t have any foot medicine with me because I had walked the Camino Frances for 33 days earlier and didn’t have any issues with my feet at all. Thanks Elena :)
Hi Erica! We left around 19th October 2022. I think we were pretty unlucky with that weather though as the week before it was 21 degrees Celsius and sunny ☀️

The whole camino portugues starts in lisbon
Yes, maybe I should have titled that differently. It was MY ‘whole’ Portuguese Camino though. I’ll change the title when I’m next at my computer!
I just changed the title and thumbnail based on your feedback :)
