I think tyr will end up dying. As he's dying he'll make Atreus kill him and Atreus will take his mantle as god of war and then call jormungand, Fenrir, hel and wage Ragnarok against Odin. So then Atreus fully enters godhood, and if they make him the main protagonist for a next game it'd still be god of war and since he's so good with languages when he goes to Egypt, Japan, Ireland/Scotland he can pick it up and talk to them

This could be an interesting twist seeing as Tyr might fulfill his title as the god of war in the Norse realm instead of keeping the peace, while Kratos tries to move far away from any war because of his past and tries to keep the peace if possible in the upcoming Ragnarok.

According to Mimir Fenrir was already captured by the Aesir using a chain. I really don't know how they will fit Tyr lost hand in the plot. It looks more like if he looses his hand it will be for a complete different reason that have little to nothing to do with his original Mythos.
I still forget that Mimir isn't just some old wise man who knows a lot of myth stories that are being passed from their ancestors. He is a wise man who actually there experienced the events unfolding and lives long enough to tell the stories as his own.
Tyr is one of three. Thor and Odin are the other two. Tyr represents the justice and sacrifice of war. Thor represents the duty and savagery of war. Odin represents the death and darkness of war. There was a point when Tyr may have been worshipped to a greater degree than the other two.
Tyr and mimir have whats called "giants eyes" they're enchanted so as to see as the giants do. Atreaus IS a giant. He doesn't need them he just needs time to grow in power.
I've never been more excited for a video game than I have when I first heard about thus game. My own theory is that since Kratos killed Baldur and "changed something" as Mimir said after the fight where Baldur died, as such, perhaps Tyr won't lose his hand as he did in the real Norse lore. I also believe that Tyr is still good and will not betray his new allies, though of course not without lack of trying and meddling from the raven king. I also believe that this is not the end for Kratos rather, I think this is only the beginning of a new and incredible journey.. A journey back to Greece.
The change is the end of the Aesir-gods. The Death of Baldur through Loki and mistletoes is one of the signs for the coming of Ragnarök. And timelines we're always a bit puzzling in norse myth. The Aesir know their world will end, how it ends and what comes after, with things happening after they need to happen from a purely chronological standpoint.
My personal thought is that Kratos will somehow be woven into the mythos as a stand-in for Fenrir. His anger might lead to him (accidentally) lobbing Tyrs hand off. Maybe in an effort to protect Atreus. And if he is cast in that role it would also benefit the game as it gives us a clear shot at Odin himself.
the duality of the god of war tyr: using his word and wisdom to prevent war kratos: "if both parties all dead, there won't be a war to begin with right?"
If you pay attention closely to the final frames of when tyr stands up you can almost see how broken he is through the final look we see when he's looking down on Kratos
I think Tyr knows about kratos' full past cause he could travel to other lands so he might a little wary of him and try to kill him secretly but then see he's changed or sm
I like the theory about how Tyr was so broken by Odin's tortures so he won't be peacful anymore. But on the other hand, another evil god? Maybe no, thanks
they never do.. people for some reason just assume he’s Odin son even though in the myths he’s not Odin son .. even the god of war lore and legends books never say Tyr is Odin son
In the real Norse mythology he's sometimes described as a son of Odin so that's probably why, and other times he's described as the son of the son of a giant. But I agree, the game never says either way.
The director's already said there will be no more sequels to the game after this one. So, yes. I believe this will be the end of Kratos and many other characters in the game. I just hope we can get a glimpse of what actually happen to the giants with this time traveling event's. And of course, have an amazing storyline like always.
In December 2008, Sony reported that God of War III would be the last game in the series. They always say it's the last one, then investors come along and tell the studio to make another one, it's not like they can say no XD
Tyr did not bind Fenrir in chains. Odin wanted Fenrir shackled to prevent Ragnarok. The promised Fenrir that the chains were not permanent, even though they were. Tyr offered to put his hand in Fenrirs mouth as collateral incase the chains would not come off. Tyr knew the chains were permanent, but offered his arm anyway to please Fenrir in that moment, sacrificing his own hand. Tyr was not the one who wanted to chain Fenrir, Odin was.
I feel like we'll see a butting of heads between Kratos and Tyr, not in the form of 2 men trying to reform, but 1 who has lost hope, and another who has found it. Kratos being a General will more than likely give him perspective on Tyr's failure (not really a failure to lead, more like he was backstabbed). This is gonna be quite the game, not to mention the fact that we could have a scenario where Tyr is stuck thinking LIKE a General because of his mistakes, while Kratos as we know is, "Thinking like a father." I really want to see them work as a team, possibly fight Thor or maybe get a close up of the All Father himself.
And tyr sure he he feels that he’s responsible for this genocide but then again he might be an example for another reason maybe it’s the fear of being corrupted by power he’s trying to save everyone so he doesn’t have to end up like his father Oden sure he was peaceful and he saw knowledge but then again it could be a way to protect everyone hopefully Kratos my convince him he can still do right even if it seems hopeless
I feel like because tyr knows who kratos is he’ll act like they chill at first but then go to Odin and be like “Ayo this red tattooed guy? Yeah totally not a calm and reasonable person.”
After watching the latest new God of War: Ragnarok trailer, we get to see more of Tyr and he's gonna be a major side character for both Atreus & Kratos journey. So yep, had to get more details on Tyr so that's why I'm here
I think it'll be interesting to see how Santa Monica interprets Fenrir's chaining in order to stop Ragnarok. Loki is super young right now and Jormungandr is actually supposed to be one of three of Loki's children, the other two being Hella and Frenrir. Ragnarok is all about the end of Asgard and the Aesir in that formation, with a pair of Midgardians and (I believe) Magnus getting into Yggdrassil and surviving to start again afterwards. Is Kratos the living embodiment of Ragnarok?
The way I see it. Tyr and Kratos are not going to get along at first. But as the plot progress, the two well eventually grow to respect each other and learn to work together, and eventually become as one miss Miscellaneous Myths would put it, War God Bros! Or maybe it wont be tyr at all, what if it's Odin, in disguise. Well just have to wait and see.
Playing God Of War again..Mimir tales a tale of the World Serpent already fighting Thor in Ragnarok..where Thor hit him so hard he was knocked back in time!
I've been cooking up a lot of theories but none more in depth than Tyr. Here's the short summary. When we see the trailer in the game Kratos and Atreus are rescuing Tyr. When we walk in Tyr has his head DOWN. (as we see in the trailer) Atreus: Tyr we're here to save you! Tyr: I am of no use to you son of Faye. Atreus: Wait wha.... Kratos: BOY.......... (Tyr lifts his head and reveals empty eye sockets) Tyr: I AM OF NO USE TO YOU!!! I feel this is going to be a fetch quest. We find that when before Tyr was captured he hid his eyes from Odin. He knew that the Allfather would take them from him. I'm guessing that each eye will be hidden in a different realm. More than likely Niflheim and Mupelheim. Just the journey to be able to get these eyes is going to take up a large part of the game. Tyr is a VERY important character in this game and Santa Monica has taken GREAT care to see we knew the story of the Norse God of War. They're not going to make it just as easy as knocking down a door...that DIDN'T seem to be magically sealed mind you. Upon returning Tyr both of his eyes and a pep talk from Atreus he will then agree to accompany us. Kratos: Will you come with us?? Tyr: Yes Ghost of Sparta. It is time. ALEXA....play Alice In Chains-Man in the box. To add more to this theory we have to think....Atreus and Kratos DID kill Tyr's kin. His brother AND his nephews. Ragnorok or not. Tyr is a very intelligent and just God. These acts will not sit well with him and will take some convincing. Also lets not take away the fact that Tyr knows EXACTLY who Kratos is. Tyr has been to Greece. I'm willing to gather that Tyr also knew Faye...which means he knows of Loki and what is to come. This will make Tyr VERY apprehensive.
The coolest thing is that tyr would despise Kratos because if you look at it Kratos and Thor are exactly the same. They both have murdered a whole species who were classed as giants, have tortured their families (deserving or not) are dishonest and will do anything to win even if it means selling ones soul, everyone may say that Kratos has never changed but I do think Tyr will show Kratos that deep down he’s still the merchant of death and destruction that he’s always been and I’m super interested to see how they play that out in ragnarok either that or Tyr will be an honest man and will help Kratos for Atreus and nothing else.
Mimirs stories were always the best ppl didn’t pay attention to them cuz they thought he was just a talking head he gave real info on the past present and future of God of war
Okay, so, I'm new to God of War. I downloaded the most recent on because a friend showed me the trailer for Ragnarok. Mostly because Tyr is my deity. This makes me really happy.
Kratos is Tyr resurrected..shocked to see himself as a human in the afterlife, Tyr stares back into his own eyes.. knowing only he himself...could find him ..... jokes on you Odin.. I've created a Time paradox so far ahead of time even your puny Raven couldnt see it!
This game looks more like an expansion than a legit sequel. Not that I'm complaining, but hopefully it has some more tricks up its sleeve than I'm expecting.
But I do strongly believe a time travel will occur. The cave in Jötunheim and the pictures drawn on the walls are just too accurate for a prophecy. I think either Atreus or Kratos will rip through the time. Since Thor sent Jörmungandr back in time before his birth, Thor's fight with kratos will do something similar. That's what I think at least.
Oddly enough Tyr and Kratos are linked. The Romans DID study the mythology and religion of other cultures where they basically have Mars as Tyr's equivalent (it's more of a linguistics link than anything, but I thought that it was a neat little tie in). Latin texts do refer to Tyr as Mars. That said. Minerva or Athena was also considered a war-like god, intelligence over brute force. Athena in pop culture is generally and widely accepted as a "good" goddess morally superior than her counterpart Ares. She helped Perseus, Odysseus, Hercules... Digging deeper, she was a sore loser - the story of Arachne, she punished Medusa for being raped by Poseidon in HER temple -this is 9 kinds of WRONG, and turned her into the gorgon, there's the apple story with Aphrodite and Hera, she made Ajax go insane and humiliated him, then laughed about it to which he then commits suicide. Lastly, also took part in the genocide of the Giants - Gigantomachy. Which is why I'm getting Athena vibes from Tyr. Perhaps Tyr was more manipulative than "good" and his actions just LOOKED valorous. Perhaps Kratos and Atreus learn the "truth" about Tyr and causes Atreus to further become the Loki of myth.
i think the ending of this game will have Tyr betray kratos.. saying something like kratos is war personified and we cant have that in this land anymore, and create some ort of portal and thrown into it and land in egypt or japan with atreus
Crazy Theory: Kratos will die at about 3/4th of the game and lokis rage will be a major contribution he will then decide to go with Odin and tyr will be the protagonist the new god of war games won’t have kratos
Maybe Tyr is that dead body they see near the end of the game hidden behind that flap. When Kratos says "Yes, yes we are" Maybe that's Tyr predicted to die in the future.
I just can’t wait to the tense yet very interesting interaction between Tyr and Kratos. Especially considering all the shit Kratos did in Greece and Tyr more than likely herring about it. Then again I wonder what he may have thought of Ares?
My guess is that odin locked away tyr for a good reason as you guys know Odin did everything he could to prevent ragnarock. Cause that would mean the end of the gods(him included) from imprisoning the valkryes and killing the humans in midgard. So tyr may play a huge part in his downfall
Tyr didn’t trick the Fenrir wolf , Fenrir challenged the Aesir if he allowed them to bind him with gleipnir someone would have to put their hand in his mouth incase there was trickery involved . Tyr raised Fenrir as a cub and was the only god brave enough to put his hand in the wolfs mouth . When fenris couldn’t break free from gleipnir He snapped his mouth tearing off Tyrs sword hand preventing him from wielding Tyrfing at Ragnorok
Tyr is the son of Odin in some context but Tyr is a very old name that predates the text use to derive who they believe him to be. Tyr in different spellings is proto germanic and Aryan before that. A sky father god of justice.

You know I don’t think Kratos might not die in this game Since the creators mentioned there might be an Egypt dark then again after being in tyrs temple It might inspire him to go on a world tour to reinvent himself so maybe you’ll finally find some peace and will bring his son along with him to teach him how to be a proper God
Technically Tyr and Zeus are the same God but just in different pantheons. Despite Tyr being the god of War and Zeus the god of Thunder, Both of them developed from the same ancient deity- Dweus-Phter (literally “sky-father”), who was worshiped as the chief deity of the Proto-Indo Europeans before they split across Europe and developed into unique cultures (including the Germanic peoples, Greeks, Celts, Romans, etc. they all come from the same original population during the neolithic age). Somewhere along the line during the Bronze Age, Tyr was surpassed by Odin within the Germanic pantheon as king of the Gods and Tyr became less and less relevant as time went on. In the surviving sagas we have today from the 12th century, Tyr only really does one significant thing in that he sacrifices his arm to Frenrir as a promise that they will not keep him bound for all of time, just until Ragnarok. Other than that he’s not very prevalent in Norse myth. Doubtlessly if we had more records from earlier times in Germanic myth we would see a greater prominence. Given this connection between Zeus and Tyr, wouldn’t it be ironic if Kratos and Tyr become good allies in this game? Lol
I cant wait for kratos for fenrir the giant wolf that would be amazing but the whole thing makes perfect sense why tyr has his hand i cant wait for this game the story seems very interesting
VGS, I have a counterpoint about your part about Tyr tricking Fenrir. In Red from Overly Sarcastic Productions' video on Loki, she recounts the very same myth, but states that Tyr only did it because he had been good friends with Fenrir and he was the only one the wolf would trust. So he didn't trick Fenrir. He was always benevolent in the mythology, it isn't just in this game.
I once made a comment on one of your videos about there being Co-Op between Kratos and Tyr. After the trailer I would NOT be surprised if they let it happen. Heh. They've had multiplayer and buddy AI lile Atreus. Why not explore another old-school classic? Here's hoping it makes it in. 👌
I feel it will follow the original story and Tyr will sacrifice his hand to stop Ragnarok. Also it has some tips that lead to Atres will kill Kratos eventually when they got to Yodenhim. I am not sure what will happen in Ragnarok but Kratos may not die that may be saved for the next God Of War.
Kratos was always a helpful god even in the first god of war series it may not looked like it but kratos gave freedom to Greece for all mortals to create their own destiny without selfish cruel gods controlling and mocking mortals because Zeus didn’t care for mortals at all even though they praised him he impregnated mortal woman and abandoned them, while kratos may have slept with many women he only did so when his wife died and cared about his family, even though he caused pain to many others but he was running from his own pain and hurt of killing his own family so even though kratos brought chaos he in reality also brought hope n freedom to Greece
I think they will team up to defeat Odin and stop ragnorok but then I feel like tyr will have a final stand with kratos and kratos will win but after the fight he will bleed out or something to give the series a amazing ending
@@smarty1268 Probably but what reason would Tyr die by Kratos and why would Kratos kill Tyr? Yes it's an interesting theory at best, but Kratos at least this older and wiser version of Kratos would need to have a reason to kill Tyr.

Well said I hope so
My personal thought is that Kratos will somehow be woven into the mythos as a stand-in for Fenrir. His anger might lead to him (accidentally) lobbing Tyrs hand off. Maybe in an effort to protect Atreus. And if he is cast in that role it would also benefit the game as it gives us a clear shot at Odin himself.
I hope not, Fenrir is one of Kratos' grandsons. I would love to see the wolf kill Odin while his brother fights Thor
@@michaelis2958 They are not going to stick to Norse lore... Kratos will kill Odin

Very interesting deduction of kratos filling that role for fenrir

tyr: using his word and wisdom to prevent war
kratos: "if both parties all dead, there won't be a war to begin with right?"
Tyr is like what Athena was in the Greek myth: a civilized god of war. Preferring alternatives to all out bloodshed.
Better version of Athena in this iteration, if you ask me.
Kratos is the game. Why would anyone play the game without him.
If you pay attention closely to the final frames of when tyr stands up you can almost see how broken he is through the final look we see when he's looking down on Kratos
He will fight Kratos
Tyr is a version of Kratos as a calm and reasonable person
aka diplomatic
I think Tyr knows about kratos' full past cause he could travel to other lands so he might a little wary of him and try to kill him secretly but then see he's changed or sm
I like the theory about how Tyr was so broken by Odin's tortures so he won't be peacful anymore. But on the other hand, another evil god? Maybe no, thanks
Correction for early on, Tyr is NOT a son of Odin! If you can find where in the game they mention that, let me know
they never do.. people for some reason just assume he’s Odin son even though in the myths he’s not Odin son .. even the god of war lore and legends books never say Tyr is Odin son
@@hecantguardme15 That's why the has no problem torturing Tyr
Yea when he mentioned that in the video I was really surprised, I thought I mustve missed that in the game.
In the real Norse mythology he's sometimes described as a son of Odin so that's probably why, and other times he's described as the son of the son of a giant.
But I agree, the game never says either way.
I love the idea. It was most of the character development of Kratos so it would be cool to see Tyr take on the challenge of fighting emotional demons.
The director's already said there will be no more sequels to the game after this one. So, yes. I believe this will be the end of Kratos and many other characters in the game. I just hope we can get a glimpse of what actually happen to the giants with this time traveling event's. And of course, have an amazing storyline like always.
Correction this is the last game in the Norse Mythology, not overall.
@@narrickcuz exactly
In December 2008, Sony reported that God of War III would be the last game in the series. They always say it's the last one, then investors come along and tell the studio to make another one, it's not like they can say no XD
when they see the money they always make another this happens so many times
I think you are mistaken brother, its the last game in Norse/Scandanavia.
There's a rumor that its not Tyr but Odin who pretend to be TYR.. also the eyes of mimir
That picture of Tyr is depicted as if he knew he was going to lose his arm.. I mean, who poses holding there own wrist in such a way.. ??..
Imagine if tyr slaps kratos back to greek, and Tyr repeatedly hearing "Tyr!, I HAVE RETURNED!"
Damn, what a voice you have
Deep as a cave
I feel like because tyr knows who kratos is he’ll act like they chill at first but then go to Odin and be like “Ayo this red tattooed guy? Yeah totally not a calm and reasonable person.”
You were right, good job
Updated Theory: Yea...bout Tyr...
After watching the latest new God of War: Ragnarok trailer, we get to see more of Tyr and he's gonna be a major side character for both Atreus & Kratos journey. So yep, had to get more details on Tyr so that's why I'm here
I have a feeling Tyr won't like Kratos and might even be reluctant to help him at first.
Tyr seems to be a good guy.
Aged well
God Of Peace❤
I thought Tyr was dead and has lost his eyes in GoW. So my theory is that it's Odin as disguised as Tyr seen in Ragnarok trailer
no he has the eyes that were given to mimir by giants yo travel from realm to realm. he is not odin
He is seen on the murals as being a prisoner not dead.
The dwarf with the octopus could be, octopus = slepnir horse, and the eye of the dwarf has a glass
@@Morfe02 odin doesn't has one eye the dwarve has
Playing God Of War again..Mimir tales a tale of the World Serpent already fighting Thor in Ragnarok..where Thor hit him so hard he was knocked back in time!
If tyr ends up being an ally I really hope that means fenrir is going to be cool with us.
I've been cooking up a lot of theories but none more in depth than Tyr. Here's the short summary.
When we see the trailer in the game Kratos and Atreus are rescuing Tyr. When we walk in Tyr has his head DOWN. (as we see in the trailer)
Atreus: Tyr we're here to save you!
Tyr: I am of no use to you son of Faye.
Atreus: Wait wha....
Kratos: BOY..........
(Tyr lifts his head and reveals empty eye sockets)
Tyr: I AM OF NO USE TO YOU!!!
"As the magical rope tighten and tighten" remind me assassin creed Odyssey. 1:25
The fact the Greek God of War and Norse God of War will interact will make things INTERESTING
When Tyr begins to stand up, i got goosebumps.........HOLY F !!!! I CAN'T WAIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG, thank you for this !!
This game looks more like an expansion than a legit sequel. Not that I'm complaining, but hopefully it has some more tricks up its sleeve than I'm expecting.
Interesting, Two God of wars from different pantheon wanting a piece of Odin and Thor.
Perhaps Kratos and Atreus learn the "truth" about Tyr and causes Atreus to further become the Loki of myth.
whooo boy were you were off. XD
if they just showed tyr imagine how many other characters are there.
In mythology, Tyr was not Odin's son.
I knew this would all end in Tyrs...
i think the ending of this game will have Tyr betray kratos.. saying something like kratos is war personified and we cant have that in this land anymore, and create some ort of portal and thrown into it and land in egypt or japan with atreus
That would be so cool
Kratos is a calm and reasonable god.
He’s gonna be an awesome character.
My guess is that odin locked away tyr for a good reason as you guys know Odin did everything he could to prevent ragnarock. Cause that would mean the end of the gods(him included) from imprisoning the valkryes and killing the humans in midgard. So tyr may play a huge part in his downfall
Tyr didn’t trick the Fenrir wolf ,
Fenrir challenged the Aesir if he allowed them to bind him with gleipnir someone would have to put their hand in his mouth incase there was trickery involved .
Tyr raised Fenrir as a cub and was the only god brave enough to put his hand in the wolfs mouth .
When fenris couldn’t break free from gleipnir
He snapped his mouth tearing off Tyrs sword hand preventing him from wielding Tyrfing at Ragnorok
I think Tyr will have a rage mode like Kratos, but he'll behave more like Goku when he first went super saiyan. Full of rage, but still under control.
Lol Tyr design is much more scarier and intimidating than thor.

And why not when he finally passes on he could rejoin his wives and his daughter caliope
Has a son that still needs guidance I think he has to continue being with him so he knows the right way so he doesn’t follow dark path
But imagine, you can play as Tyr. Lowkey would be hype.
I'd kill for Kratos and Tyr to be bros going through the same redemption arc together.
This can't be the end of God of War, they could explore so many different mythologies. Maybe the end of Kratos, but the start for Atreus.
He was always benevolent in the mythology, it isn't just in this game.
this was a really well thought analysis
Good video
I am so excited to play this game. I don’t want anything else for Christmas but this game do you understand mum 😅😂🤣 I’m 19

Tyr looks like Kratos. So im wondering if it's going to parallel the Greek pantheon
When God of War meets the Good of War
I feel it will follow the original story and Tyr will sacrifice his hand to stop Ragnarok. Also it has some tips that lead to Atres will kill Kratos eventually when they got to Yodenhim. I am not sure what will happen in Ragnarok but Kratos may not die that may be saved for the next God Of War.
In norse tales, Tyr and Balder have a messianic role. Hope to see it on GOW.
It's that guy who has one hand and holds a long sword in "Smite"
This was soo beautifully scripted! WOW! Hat's off on this cool theory. 🙌🏻😊
I think they will team up to defeat Odin and stop ragnorok but then I feel like tyr will have a final stand with kratos and kratos will win but after the fight he will bleed out or something to give the series a amazing ending

It was suspicious that Tyr wasn’t really being held I mean he was sitting in a room from what it looked like and he had both his eyes???
I remember a theory from another video that explained that Tyr likely lost his will to carry on, or even attempt to escape. I suppose he felt that he would simply cause more harm than good after what happened with the giants, and simply chose to stay dormant and away.
@@completelyaverageviewer wow that makes so much sense, I am confused on why Odin didn’t take one of his eyes like he did to Mimir but what you said could totally be it
@@leonkennedy9912 Well, he could have very well taken his eyes and we just saw a glimpse of the aftermath of whatever story is there beforehand. But if he didn’t, then I’m not really sure, I doubt it’s because of Odin feeling sympathy for Tyr or anything like that, so it’ll be interesting to see what the story behind it all will be.
In Norse mythology pretty much every god is the god of war, they didn't really have designated gods like the greek
