A UNIQUE FEATURE OF THE MAGEE SCIENTIFIC MODEL AE-33 AETHALOMETER® WITH “ND OPTICAL KIT”
Every Aethalometer® AE-33 is calibrated during manufacturing to give an analysis of aerosol black carbon traceable to NIST Standard Reference Material 8785. This documented calibration also defines the optical properties of a Master Set of photometric standards-which provide the reference for field Transfer Standard Kits of Neutral Density Optical Elements.
Our unique ND Transfer Standard Kit will validate the calibration of any AE-33 Aethalometer, to confirm that its performance is exactly as when it was manufactured and originally calibrated against the NIST Standards.
Each and every ND Transfer Standard Kit has been compared against the Master Set, and its optical parameters are stored on an accompanying USB memory stick. When inserted into an AE-33 Aethalometer® during the “ND Validate” process, these parameters provide the traceable link to the NIST standards. Consequently, any ND Transfer Standard Kit can be used to validate the performance of any AE-33 Aethalometer.
In monitoring network operations, one ND Transfer Standard Kit can be used periodically to validate the performance of any number of Aethalometers on-site, in-the-field, with minimal disruption of data continuity. The “ND Validate” process generates a quantitative report and log file for formal record-keeping.
