Your comment about no one in the caring about different tones from the high dollar pedals was accurate. Been telling my friends that for years. Enjoyed the demo!
Nice video, Jon! Feeling much warmer after that. Keep the videos coming!! Was hovering over getting the Boss CE-2W waza craft recently to add a touch of chorus to things, then discovered my Oceans 11 reverb pedal has a chorus + reverb setting that's usable enough (and a good space saver). So along with your fantastic test - and no I couldn't tell the difference through loud monitor speakers - I don't feel tempted to get a specialist chorus pedal in as well, even if Joe Bonamassa decides to release one in a limited edition everose gold...
Thanks Ben! The CE-2W is pretty nice but if you're satisfied with the wobble you're getting from the Oceans 11 then happy days! However... the Bonamassa ltd gold will guarantee that anyone who hears your playing will be overcome with emotion, to the extent that they won't even wonder why you're wearing sunglasses indoors on a dark stage. So definitely buy that when it comes out.
Hey Jon, Is that the Ibanez you bought way back in the uni days? Love it if it's made it through the last 20 years of intense use! Chorus is a funny one I find. I want to love it and it's part of loads of my favourite players sound but I just can't make it work for me. Top tips for dialing it in? Really enjoying the videos Jon, thanks.
Hi Ross! Great spot - I’m amazed that you remember that! It did fall into disuse for quite a while but I brought it back this year and immediately wished I’d done it sooner. Yeah chorus is indeed an odd one - as for not getting it working for you, if moderate setting aren’t doing it, maybe the guitar tone itself? If there’s a specific sound let me know and I’ll try to approximate!
The bass Jon is the coolest! There's a Strat Jon on the Mobius segment trying to still his thunder with an arm roll dance but bass Jon is still coolest. Great video! Couldn't tell the difference either, they all sound awesome.
Ha! Bass Jon has fewer strings to worry about so maximum focus on being cool. I know how it works 😎 And yes the arm roll dance - there were difference dances for each take but in the edit I could only use one 😢
Thanks man. This video helped me decide to sell my CE-2W. My Kemper chorus never sounded as magical as the Boss. This video confirmed my hunch that I just need to spend a little time to dial it in properly
Very sensible vid. I agree with all opinions....so that makes him smart. Saved me lots of money while telling me what I strongly suspected all along. Cheers.
Strymon chorus seemed a teeny bit underwhelming? The other choruses were far clearer stated, but the möbius kinda made me really have to listen for the chorus character. Maybe that’s just me.
I kind of agree with you, but when I listened without looking, I wasn't reliably picking it out. Probably nothing a little level boost wouldn't make up for. Such an interesting area.

Could you tell a difference? Have you got a favourite chorus pedal that really is different?Am I completely deaf?

Ah that's very interesting! Sometimes I wondered if it's much about our expectation as it is the ACTUAL sound. Hope you find some wobbly contentment.
Impressive demo. I’ve always kinda been lack luster on the Kemper chorus. Gotta give it another look.
Thanks Mark. I was too. I think maybe it was mainly in my head…

It's not a perfect test, but of all the videos I've made this was the most interesting for me. Glad you enjoyed.
