Mongoose are mammals (mammals) belonging to the weasel and ferocious tribes (Viverridae). Its scientific name is Paradoxurus hermaphroditus and in Malaysia it is known as weasel pulut. This animal is also called by various other names such as weasel (common name, Betawi), pandan weasel, lasun (Sunda), badger or mongoose (Java), and common palm civet, common weasel, house weasel or toddy cat in English.
The Mongoose civet is a type of wild mammal that is often found around settlements and even cities. These animals are very good at climbing and are arboreal, more often roam in the trees, although they do not hesitate to descend to the ground. Mongoose are also nocturnal, active at night in search of food and other activities.
In the wild, mongooses are often found on palm trees or kawung trees, bamboo groves, and coconut trees. In urban areas, civets usually nest on the roofs of people's houses, because their natural habitat has been replaced by human houses.
In the dark of night, it is not uncommon for mongoose to be seen walking on the roofs of houses, climbing electric cables to move from one building to another, or even descending to the ground near the kitchen of the house. Mongoose also like secondary forests.
The sound of this mongoose repellent has been tuned to use a frequency that is safe for humans and pets such as dogs and cats (38-40 Khz).
