      @@stacies8800 The immigration enforcement approaches of Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump differed significantly, particularly regarding deportations and family separations. While Obama’s administration prioritized deporting individuals with criminal records and posed security threats, Trump’s administration implemented a “zero tolerance” policy that mandated prosecuting all individuals crossing the border illegally, leading to the widespread separation of thousands of families (Vox, 2018). Although some family separations occurred under Obama, they were relatively rare and typically involved specific circumstances, such as concerns about child welfare, rather than an intentional policy (NPR, 2019). In contrast, Trump’s approach systematically separated children from their parents, classifying them as unaccompanied minors as part of a deterrent strategy (Vox, 2018). While both administrations enforced immigration laws, Obama’s policies were generally considered more humane, focusing on keeping families together when possible, whereas Trump’s policies faced significant criticism for their harshness and humanitarian consequences (Vox, 2018).

      @@stacies8800 You are the one making a comparison between Trump and Obama. Ryan is merely calling injustice out as he sees it.
      You are projecting your blindness ( you can't see Trump's faults) onto Ryan there, claiming that he only sees Trump's faults but no one else' faults. Yet there's no evidence of that.
      Obama certainly wasn't a saint. But he's not in office at the moment. Trump is. And what Trump is doing, by far exceeds what Obama is doing when it comes to injustice.
      I know you can't see that, which is unfortunate because you will still suffer all the consequences from the harm Trump is causing and will cause. Being a sycophant won't protect you, just as it didn't protect the sycophants in ancient rome.

      @@xavierlopez5276 Not sure what you mean. How would deciding something sacrifice your integrity or beliefs? Indecision is a trauma response - as children, many people learn to freeze as things happen around them outside of their control. You take that into adulthood and call it "self preservation" or other things. If this is the case, then I'd say everyone's job is to work on themselves until they're capable of making choices.

      @Eshajori I mean in a much simpler sense, if there are two crappy presidents and we don't like either one, am I weak for refusing to vote cause I do not agree with either of them cause I believe both are a complete joke and I'm not willing to let up on what I believe in regardless of what party they are cause truthfully when it comes down to it, does it even matter?

    • @xavierlopez5276
      @xavierlopez5276 8 днів тому

      @@Eshajori Also, I mean, hell, if you went to a country, for example, that did not allow religious freedom or maybe annihilated anyone person of your kind of religious beliefs, but you coward in fear towards the idea of your execution, is it considered weak to give in to your assailants and executioners or is it considered to be strong to NOT decide to give into their threats or the very real consequences you may receive.... Or is it weak to give into death instead of clinging onto Life despite what you believe in? Does that make it clearer?

    This piece reminds me of "engaged Buddhism:" a reminder, in both cases, that our lives are not, in the end, about us, but about all of us. What is an individual, after all, without all of our relationships, from the critters in our guts that regulate our health and our moods to the people on the other side of the world who are benefiting or harming the world in which we all live? What we do or don't do matters to many others. (I could do without the many video cuts; the audio, fortunately, is flawless, and can be heard without the visual distraction. )

    Aristotle - Stupidity as a Moral Failing
    Schopenhauer famously stated:
    “Against stupidity, even the gods contend in vain.”
    Voltaire - “Those Who Can Make You Believe Absurdities Can Make You Commit Atrocities”
    Seriously USA current administration is the tragicomic laughing stock of the world these days.

    I often think that quality philosophy education is such an important piece missing from most people’s childhoods, and you see the consequences of that manifest with the anti-intellectualism, amorality, and idolatry of strength that fueled the rise of this neofascist Trumpian movement.
