Mike- great work and I’m glad you mentioned the bottom of the wedge doing the work. So often I fear opening the face too much but I’ve finally learned its key to consistently getting out of the bunker.

Scott Sibigtroth, yes, you really do have to get that club face open more than most people think!

You mention indirectly hand position when you talk about playing the ball forward but sometimes I forget to keep my hands even with the ball because I don't want forward shaft lean with a bunker shot. Do you agree?

I play at some pretty cheap public courses. The sand is not away in good shape. If the sand is hard or wet or poorly distributed does your advice change?

Glenn Watson, if the sand is really hard, or if there isn’t much sand in the bunker, you’ll probably have to hit a little closer to the ball. I found the most helpful way to deal with those types of bunkers is to practice those types of lies before you get on the course. Once you have an idea how the ball will react from those types of bunkers, it’s a lot easier to play the shots.
