A constructive and effective opposition may very well be important for the country, but it would have been nice to have had a constructive and effective government over the last five years rather than the cabal of criminals we were forced to endure.

BBC needs to get rid of Laura Kunesberg as soon as possible. Her obbious bias for the Tories is embarrassing.

Australian here: Congratulations UK. We got rid of our long standing former conservative Federal government and voted in our Labor party. While Labor aren't perfect, they're so much better than the former government - it's a move in the right direction.

Anyone with more than half a functioning braincell could've seen this coming. But not Rishi Sunak- he couldn't see a train coming if he was standing on the track...

the big question is will the Tories be prepared to change and learn from a meteoric failure at the ballot box. They just don't seem to recognise just how out of step they are with public opinions and concerns and risk lurching even further to the right or electing another controversial leader that won't be popular with the public. So they need to move back to becoming more centrist and ditch the corrosive, divisive politics that has dogged this governments time in office

Boris was a right-wing leader, at least externally, won a massive majority. Sunak is a useless waste of space centrist ... worst defeat since 1906. You are so bloody wrong.

The Tories must make it clear to the ones that fell for farage rot what exactly the farage rot really is. Many would no longer fall for snake oil. Let them see what they would loose.

Going to be really difficult for Starmer; none of the fixes that lost tory's its support will happen and he's going to face the corbynisters of his party that will pop their head back up now they've won the party. I wish him luck, he's going to need it.

The Conservative Party should turn to their wisdom figures, people like Hague here, or Major, and several others for much needed advice on how to proceed from this catastrophic defeat. Certainly, they should say a resounding "No" to Farage the charlatan and his hooligans, to begin with. Rather, they should bring in people like Rory Stewart and the aforementioned people to get back on track.
