Just picked up a 2024 Wrangler Sport S 2dr. Soft top with a stick. It's SO much fun! I know some of the points from the video are valid, but it's odd to talk about the 2025MY cons while showing an earlier model (pre-refresh). Mine has radar cruise, FCW, air bags on the roof rails, wireless CarPlay, power everything, heated seats/steering wheel, etc. I'll concede that it's not the most practical vehicle (the storage in the back is laughable) and I have to wear ear plugs on the interstate, but around town, where I do 95% of my driving, it's all smiles.
Biggest problem with Stellantis vehicles is sky-high prices. Prices that make Lexus, BMW, and Audi seem like screaming bargains. Stellantis is a lost cause.
Yeah, Jeep and Dodge pricing is completely ridiculous. Not every single auto maker can all of a sudden try to reform themselves into a luxury or upscale brand. Especially when their products don’t reflect that and still aren’t reliable haha.
I got 15 JKU with long arm 4 link, lot of off-road goodies to list drives good to me on 37in next will go to 40” tire 120k miles no major repairs I don’t drive it daily but it’s been good I can go 90-100 no issues. Last year I rear ended someone totaled their vehicle no damage to my jeep front steel bumper 👍🏻
I don't off road much and if I did it would be beginner stuff almost insulting to a Wrangler. However, I wanted one forever and nearly bought one in 2021 but when it came to engine choices, I discovered they don't have any. The 2.0 litre sewing machine that makes oil? No thanks. The now ruined 3.6 litre with all of it's issues? Nope. The 392, grossly overkill and barely fits in the engine compartment and requires premium for no reason and adds ridiculous cost (even back then, much higher now)? Eh, no. The 4XE which couples the lousy sewing machine with failed electronics and free bonus fires? Are you serious? Brind back the old 4.0 litre, bring the price back down to the already high 2020 level or just keep it and let it rot next to the absurb Grand Wagoneer.
Haha I get that. I also don’t off road but think the idea of it would be fun. But that doesn’t mean you just hop right into a Jeep before you actually need one, if you ever do. It’s definitely a shame they’ve had so many problems. And the 3.6 seemed to be decently reliable in other platforms, idk what happened here. But like you said, they’re not worth their current prices. And while the 392 was very entertaining it was even sketchier than this, and that was in full time 4WD. They just drive so incredibly bad on the road. I’ll share a driving video of this one soon. 😉
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I test drove a 392 back then and yes, it was fun and cool but overall just made me think ... why? Open the hood on one of those ... it's so tightly packed in there, I bet if you pour a glass of water on the top of the engine it would take a half an hour to reach the ground! Imagine what it costs in labor just to change a simple part like the starter!!
The Jeep name used signify a tough go-anywhere vehicle and if it did break, you didn't mind so much because parts were not all that expensive to replace. You got a lot of bang for your buck. Not anymore. Stelantis appears to know nothing about American culture. For example, they took the iconic name Renegade and stuck it on a ridiculous mousy little grocery getter. In my opinion, their top of the line jeep should be able to climb a mountain and shouldn't cost anymore than 30k out the door. Thanks for the video.
Agreed, it’s a shame. I really don’t want to dislike the Wrangler so bad, I’ve always thought they look really cool. But they have so many issues and are awful to drive. I’ll share a driving video of this one in the rain soon. I’m lucky I survived. 😅😬
You mentioned Jeep people are kind of like Hummer people; I think that CyberTruck people also have the same mentality about their vehicles. One has to ask, why does one have to own one? Is it the mystic, some unfulfilled dream, a midlife crisis, or some mental breakdown of judgement?
Haha maybe. As a car enthusiast I totally get just being into a certain style of vehicle and how you let it make you feel. And as much as I’ve always thought Wranglers looked like an iconic and fun enthusiast vehicle, they’re just so bad haha. Which is maybe part of the charm? Anyways, soon I’ll post a driving review of this one in the rain. It was legit scary. 🫣
I have a 21 wrangler Willys 4 door that my gf daily drives and it really does suck to drive lol. The ride quality is terrible and the wind noise is the worst in the industry and because the mud terrain tires wear unevenly and start cupping every panel in it rattles including the insanely expensive power soft top. But I will say the 2.0 turbo gets 21mpg and has good torque. Surprisingly the 22 gladiator I had with the v6 never got over 14mpg. I’d take the turbo any day over the v6 but personally I would NEVER want to daily drive a wrangler lol. It really is “a jeep thing” because she absolutely loves it.
Haha I hear you. Thanks for sharing your guys experience!s and thoughts The closest thing I’ve owned to one was my FJ, which while not perfect it did drive so much better. Each time I get in a modern Wrangler I feel like it’s such a bad driving experience I might just be making it up in my head, but then the next time tops even the last experience and I feel that way all over again. I didn’t mention this but the front axel being right at the front of the vehicle also must play a big roll in how it wonders on the road. Soon I’ll also share a driving review and 0-60 of this one. I’m basically just complaining the whole time and I feel bad for that because it is such a unique enthusiast vehicle and I’m glad they still are this raw and exist. 😅
I have a 2021 Willys 4 door in Ecodiesel with a 3 inch lift and I love how it drives. I have no issues driving on the interstate and on the highway and go anywhere in it. I get an average of 30 mpg on the interstate driving.
A quick search of Jeep reliability problems will make your head spin. I know somebody that had a failing fiat engine in their jeep, they reset the engine codes, and traded it in just in time.
It’s so sad that that’s the reality for quite a few people that we personally know. You’d think with how long these have been out and how unchanged they are that they’d be the most reliable vehicle on the road.
Do you know why there are so many Jeep reliability issues out there on the internet? Well, first of all, it's statistics. The more cars out there, the more issues are reflected in public discussions, thus increasing the perceived reliability issue statistically. Secondly, these cars are abused a lot, like a lot, a lot, even right out of the factory with no modifications. Most people who abuse their Jeep Wranglers are not even seasoned off-roaders. They think they can drive their newly purchased Jeep Wrangler anywhere just because it is a Jeep. Thirdly, and this ties into the second point, it's often the owner's fault. People simply don't look after their cars and don't know how to drive them properly. For example, many still leave their car in "P" when they park instead of using the parking brake, putting unnecessary weight on the transmission. Many also floor the gas pedal right after starting the car without giving enough time for the engine and transmission to warm up. I could go on, but the point is these cars are solid and robust. Yes, the craftsmanship isn't great when it comes to small details like panel gaps and interior plastics, but this is a Jeep. We all know that we're buying a Jeep, not a Lexus.
I think your over exaggerating a bit on the steering/drive-ability. I test drove multiple Gladiators and they are fine, steering is tight, and minimal difference from a bronco or 4runner. They do get a bit squirrely though when one wheel hits a big dig but thats just the nature of the beast. I suspect that most jeep complaints for steering/wandering come from spent bushings and incorrect suspension geometry after lifting them
I get that! All this video is one random person’s opinions and that’s all it’s worth. I will say I think 4Runners, while not driving fantastic compared to other modern SUVs do handle immensely better than a Wrangler, same with the Broncos. I’ve never cared to drive a Gladiator but I would imagine the Gladiator drives decently better than a Wrangler. It weighs maybe 500# more but also with the longer over hang on the rear I imagine they’re less likely to pivot or change directions on the road than one of these. I use to own a 23 Miata, which while I get that might seem like a silly little underpowered car, it’s the most fun driving vehicle I’ve ever driven. It’s also the least practical. Kind of like the Wrangler you’re trading a lot of practicality for the focus of a one purpose built machine. There’s a reason Jeeps are the king off road, and there’s a reason most car reviews at some point own a Miata or rate them a 9-10/10 driving experience car. 🤷♂️😅 Thanks for sharing your thought!!
Back row seats has plenty of leg room for someone who is 6'2. You talking about the horrible fuel mileage then saying you wish it had a v8, is ridiculous.
Thats good insight, thanks for sharing this! If a Wrangler with an underwhelming V6 is only going to average under normal driving maybe 13-17mpg, I think the fun factor of 200 extra hp for only a slightly further mpg loss is worth it. The 392 was fun and quite the experience, but also it felt even more unsettling and poorly balanced. Regardless a V8 Jeep is not worth anything close to 90k IMO haha 😅
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 Not sure about that. 4Runners are underpowered, have an archaic 5 speed gear box, get worse mileage than even some of the Wranglers, have outdated interiors and tech.
I really want to like driving one of these, but they’re so one purpose built they really don’t work well in our current year and the expectations many people would have for such an expensive vehicle.
@ I guess it depends who you are. When I can afford it I will have a 4 door wrangler rubicon x fully loaded, Subaru Outback Wilderness fully loaded, and a Ram Power Wagon fully loaded. That’s my first set of dream cars.
That would be a sweet garage! I’m sure you know the PW is also front axle (I think). Haven’t driven one yet, but they look cool and I’m sure with such a long wheelbase they’re way more stable on the road.
@ PW has front and rear solid axles and front and rear locking diffs and a sway bar disconnect. It’s a heavy duty version of the gladiator without removable top, doors, and folding windshield.
Not a good daily drive bs I have been in a Jeep Wrangler for 10 years, and there are no issues what so ever mine drives great and gives me all the confidence I need and I get 26 mpg on the highway with 35 and a 2in lift this guys is giving miss information
This video is just my honest opinion, based off of the experiences I’ve had driving these compared to other vehicles. What engine and gearing do you have to get 26mpg at highway speeds on 35’s??
It’s a great vehicle at one thing, climbing over crazy terrain. But to do that well it makes sense that its design has to compromise elsewhere. The fact that they’re over priced and under reliable is not new to Jeep, that’s pretty typical of this brand and the parent company, which is unfortunate.

In the coastal areas of Florida 1 in every 5 cars is a Wrangler, so obviously they drive just fine on road. Own a Sahara
